2. INTRODUCTION
Erythropoietin is a Hormone.
Also called Epo.
Produced by kidney.
By which stimulation of red-bone marrow to
produce erythrocytes ( RBCs ).
RBCs transport oxygen throughout the body.
Finally , prevents from the anemia, hypoxia etc.

4. DRUGS
Epo drugs are used for treatment of
chemotherapy-induced anemia,
Anemia is common side effect occuring due to
chemotheraphy of ESRD, cancer and HIV.
Forms of Epo such as epoetin alfa, epoetin beta,
epoetin omega, epoetin delta, derbepoetin alfa.

5. DOSES
 ANEMIA ASSOCIATED WITH CKD:
----Adult: Initial dose: 50 to 100 units/kg IV or subcutaneously 3
times a week
----Pediatric (1 Month to 16 Years): Initial dose: 50 units/kg IV or
subcutaneously 3 times a week
 Conditions:
----If hemoglobin increases by more than 1 g/dL in 2 weeks, reduce dose
by 25%
----If hemoglobin has not increased by more than 1 g/dL after 4 weeks
of therapy, increase dose by 25%.

6. Storage conditions: -Protect from light.
-Store at 2 to 8C. - Do not freeze.
Other conditions:
-Do not dilute.
-Do not shake.
-Allow this drug to reach room temperature before
injecting.
- Do not use preservative-free vials.
