What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
There are multiple uses of software that I have used and with that many types of skills that I
never thought I would’ve learnt in everyday life.
The skills I have learnt are down to using software programmes like:
Photoshop CS6
QuarkXPress
Microsoft Word
There 3 programmes have taught me more than I could of realised because I used each
individual one for different things in the process of my production.
Photoshop I have used to create my Front cover for my magazine, using this has shown me
how to use layers to get through each part without making mistakes in the rest of the
product.
I have also learned how to use new and different tools in Photoshop CS6 for example: the
lasso tool, which if used in the right way can help you get a clean cropped image at the end.
When using it be sure once your image is uploaded to the Photoshop window and you’re
trying to cut things out of your original image hold the ‘CTRL’ key and then either tap the
plus or minus key which is located usually to the left of the backspace key, that then enables
you to zoom in or zoom out as much as you need to with your editing.
Then use the mouse to click a point round the parts/edges that you don’t in the image but in
the process of using the lasso tool if you want to get rid of excess parts of your image be
sure to not to click around something you want to keep because when it comes to deleting
the specific part you’ve clicked around it will be erased so in future when using the lasso
tool be aware to cut around the image you have chosen.
After doing so you will want to erase the chosen section you have gone carefully around you
will either hold the ‘CTRL’ key and press the delete key while still keeping the ‘CTRL’ key held
down.
Other things I have learnt on Photoshop are the likes of identifying different colours by
using the dropper tool and moving your mouse over the colour you like the look of that has
either been used on a section of the image you have or something you have imported on
2. Photoshop and clicking on top of the colour so that has then selected the colour and put it
in chosen colour box located on the left hand side more so towards the bottom.
To then get that colour to either fill or colour in whatever section or shape you want next
you can use the paint bucket tool or the pencil/pen tool (to fill or colour in).
To conclude what I have learnt I would say I have been taught how to use software and
different industry skills that would get me to a professional standard of production to sell in
the market to the public.
My camera technique has improved vastly in the time I have been creating my production
with different angles and how I have constructed my imagery on all 3 productions (Front
cover, contents page and DPS) all of which came out pretty well and I am happy with.
