Essay on Family Portrayal in the Film The Castle
The Castle is a movie primarily about a family sticking together and their fight for the right to live
in their own home. The Castle's portrayal of family is both positive and negative.
The Castle depicts many positive images of the family throughout the movie. From the very start of
the film, it is easy to see that the Kerrigans are a very close knit family. They always eat their dinner
together, with the TV turned 'down', and talk about their day. Around the dinner table the family
shows support for each other, and recognizes anything a family member may have achieved, like
when Darryl beams with pride telling the family about how Dale dug a hole. The family also sets
aside time after dinner for the family to watch TV together. ... Show more content on

When Tracey and Con returned from their honeymoon, Darryl, Sal, Steve and Dale met them at the
airport and walked them home. They then sat and talked for hours about the trip. This shows that the
family enjoy spending time with each other, and are quite contempt to just sit and talk.
Although there are many positive aspects of family depicted in The Castle, some portions of the film
display negative images of family.
One instance is where Steve's car window is smashed. Instead of reporting this to the police, Darryl
and Steve go to the house of the man who was responsible, abuse him through the intercom, then
proceed to tear down and steal the iron gates from the house. When the police question Darryl about
the disappearance of the gates, he lies and says he had nothing to do with it, despite the gates sitting
on the front lawn. This is definitely not a positive portrayal of family.
Darryl and Steve also display a negative image of their family when a thug appears at their home to
pass on a message. Steve sees what is happening and threatens the man with a gun. When he leaves,
Darryl yells at Steve for having the gun, but then proceeds to ask where he bought it from and how
much he paid. Although Darryl is not directly condoning the illegal use of a more than likely
unregistered gun, he seemed more interested in the savings Steve made purchasing it than the fact he
just threatened someone with it.

Personal Narrative: My First Terrorist Attack
I never thought that in my life I would be involved in a terrorist attack, until I was stuck in the mall
while it happened. The night of September 17, 2016 my mom and I were heading to the St. Cloud
Mall after my volleyball tournament in Park Rapids earlier that morning. We parked in the Macy's
parking lot opposed to parking in the Scheels' parking lot, as we usually do. When we walked in we
went to the dress section as I was searching for a homecoming dress. After finding nothing, we
looked at the shoes. We ended up finding a pair of shoes, but didn't know if I could find a dress to
match, so we didn't buy them. I looked in several different stores looking for my dress before
running into JcPenney's where I found khaki shorts that we perfect for tourist day, ... Show more

She didn't know much more but saw an angry man running out of Scheels. When one last couple
joined us in the store, they closed the gate completely and told us to go in the back room. In the back
room, I updated my Snapchat story about what was going on at the mall. The couple also told us that
they also saw the man in Scheels bleeding from his back. The small group of us had casual small
talk while I received messages and questions from my contacts on Snapchat. During this time, the
employees came to tell us what was going on and verified that there were stabbings in Macy's and
that when we were allowed to go, we would be heading to the food court. We sat in the food court
for nearly three hours waiting to be released with little information of what was happening. I
updated my Snapchat with the little information and with the information I was reading online. My
mom and I ended up seeing the Hollister employees again and thanked them for telling us to go get
the tagged removed, since we were heading to the Macy's. We also thanked the Finish Line
employee before we

Essay On The Castle
I had never been in the third tier before. It was a place that I did not belong with my coarse shirts
and riding pants, even when they were not dirt covered. It was not just the clothes, there was no
illusion I could put on myself that would make me fit in. There was something about the way they
walked that spoke of wealth and sophistication. The gate to the fourth tier was even more guarded,
two guards on each side in full battle gear. The sound of footsteps drew up eyes upward to see four
more guards walking along the top of the wall, bows in hand. The increased security closer to the
castle made sense, but the fact that the lower tiers that had a higher population had less protection
seemed rather callous. I knew Terrans cared nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The front of the castle past the moot was a lot of green space and cobble stones, but that was all I
could make out in the weak light. I was too panicked to take in details anyway. Instead of being
taken toward the large gate in front of me, I was directed along the wall. There was a small wooden
door set into the base of a drum tower in the wall. A guard saluted and unlocked the heavy wooden
door. Kane let go of me and disappeared through it. I turned to look for an exit, but Captain Saban
was crowding me to go down. I could not move. I took a few deep breaths, but they all got caught in
my throat. Captain Saban nudged me. I took a step forward. It was pitch black inside. I put my hand
out to feel the wall or anything and brushed against Kane. "You'll get used to it in a moment." Kane
took my hand and placed it on his shoulder before he started downward. I blinked a few times to try
and see my surroundings, but it was useless. Finally, I unfocused my eyes and gathered the stray
light beams from a torch shining somewhere in the distance. There was not much to see, just stone
walls streaked with grime and water. After what seemed like ages of the downward spiral, in which I
thought we might walk into the center of the Earth where Terran held court, the ground leveled out.
We entered a long corridor, torches blazing at different intervals that made me wince at the sudden
brightness and hay littering the floor. Another guard, this

England 's Mistress : The Infamous Life Of Emma Hamilton

Williams, Kate. England 's Mistress: The Infamous Life of Emma Hamilton. New York: Ballantine,
2006. Print.
It is a rare occurrence when an author can make a book stating real historical events and facts both
readable and captivating. Although when it does occur, it gives the book a vibe that is usually
evident in novels and fictions. In England's Mistress: The Infamous Life of Emma Hamilton the
author, Kate Williams, is able to fully achieve this. The purpose of this book is to make evident to
the reader just how famous Emma Hamilton was around the world and how she was able to rise to
such a great magnitude of fame. Williams exemplifies the fact that Emma Hamilton was able to
become the most famous female of her time through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thesis that Kate Williams tries to prove throughout the story is that Emma Hamilton was able to
gain her immense notoriety through her love affairs and her marriage. Emma Hamilton was born in
April of 1765 with the name Amy Lyon. She was born into a family that was very poor, and was
living in a "ramshackle huddle of thirty or so miners' hovels set in scrubby, stony, infertile land"
(Williams, 3). This shows that right from the start, Amy Lyon (Emma Hamilton), had absolutely no
privilege. Soon after her birth, Amy's father, Henry Lyon, died. According to the Kate Williams, the
cause of his death was unknown. She does try to put forward many ideas as to how Henry died, such
as Henry's wife and Amy's mom, Mary Foulkes, having something to do with his death, or Henry
killing himself due to being drunk. What happened to Amy's father will never be known though, as
there is no proof of one specific cause of death. Soon after, she begins working as servant for
families but she is fired because she just is not good at it. She finally decides that at the very young
age of twelve she would like to move to London in order to start over fresh and new, leaving behind
her past. In London, after being fired as a maid for staying out way too late, Amy applied to work at
Drury Lane Theatre. Drury Lane Theatre was described as "the most sensational spectacle in
London" (39). She was fired from this job, as she had been from all of her other jobs, and at

Persuasive Speech Essay
The crowd cheered, pumped by his inspiring speech, ready to build that wall. However, they could
not leave, they had to see the moment which would surely go down in history books for tens of
thousands of years. Grand Judge Arnold Schwarzenegger approached Donald Trump, Scepter of
Destruction in hand. The Scepter of Destruction was the ultimate weapon of America Land. The
Scepter of Destruction was about five feet long, and studded in gold, jewels and other valuables. The
rod was made of solid gold, and weighed nearly one hundred pounds. The real action happened at
the end of the Scepter. A purple orb, the Orb of Destruction, was located at the tip of the Scepter,
and contained the power of all the world. It had never been used, for fear that it could destroy life as
we knew it in one fatal swoop. Grand Judge Arnold Schwarzenegger knelt before the Mighty
Donald Trump, presenting the Scepter up to him. Donald Trump grasped the handle, first with his
right hand, and then with his left. As Donald Trump presented the Scepter to the onlookers, the Orb
glowed a deep hue of purple, indicating that the person that held the Scepter was powerful enough to
wield it . The majority of the crowd erupted into cheers, shoving to get the best view of the Scepter
in all of its glory. "I will lead this country to the best of my ability," said Donald Trump, Scepter of
Destruction in hand. "And with this Scepter of Destruction, I will bring reign on all of the World!"
The events after that happened quickly. Grand Judge Schwarzenegger swore in Donald Trump and
Mike Pence. "As Grand Judge, I decree that you, Donald Trump, are now the rightful leader of
America Land!" The crowd roared their approval as police forces struggled against the crowd of
Hippies. Thunderous applause erupted within the crowd when Donald Trump returned to his
podium.
"We will make America, prosperous again," Donald Trump roared. "We will make America well
again. We will make America great again!"

The Green Creature Dialectical Journal
At sunrise, the two sisters walked out of Fairy Field's gates, towards The Lost City.
Their only goal was to rescue their parents from Professor Cain and the mug monsters.
The journey wasn't an easy one. Without parental guidance, they had to learn to find food for
themselves and take care of themselves.
Along the way, they encountered a three headed dragon that wanted what little food they had!
"Food, I want food!" the dragon bellowed, spitting fire, smoke and ice at them.
The girls ran without stopping until they crossed the gates of a city.
They thought they would be safe inside, but as they walked to the nearest train station, still
following the Lost City map, they were stopped by a lanky greenish creature that got in their way.

That is how, on the third day of their journey, they arrived at the crumbling, yet imposing gates of

"Ready?" kishwana asked Akeelah who nodded. T
They high fived, hugged and with heads up high and shoulders back, walked towards the gates.
Soon it dawned on them, they had to blend in if they wanted to cross and find their parents.
They had to look like mug monsters!
Dashing to a nearby smelly swamp, they colored their skins with mug and mud, stuck twigs and
seaweed all over their bodies and faces and used some purple moss to make it look as if they had

Once they looked like mug monsters, more or less, they made their way to the gates, acting like a
pair of regular mug monsters.
The rest of the children trickled in after them and the guards were none the wiser!
Once inside the city, they noticed how dark and gloomy everything was.
There were many humans walking by, but no one paid them any

Csi Miami vs Csi Real Life
For this assignment I chose Double Jeopardy from CSI Miami, season four episode eighteen. In this
episode a husband is found innocent of his wife's murder just as her missing body is being pulled
from the ocean by a fisherman. March 26 Mr. Rowe discovered his wife's racial status and she
disappeared on October 5th but the husband waited 3 days to report her death. During this time he
practiced killing Terisa Matherdy. Losing four twenty lb weight set in the process. The CSI team
must try to find new evidence linking the husband to the deed since he can't be tried again with the
same evidence...as it is considered "Double Jeopardy." A little evidence and timely confessions
shows that the husband and his girlfriend did, indeed, kill the ... Show more content on

Only in Hollywood would anyone not want or need to protect themselves from an obvious possible
source of disease. She did this twice in this episode, once on the scene of the found body and again
in her lab. Next we see Ryan Wolfe using soft ware that doesn't exist, have you seen the latest
version of windows? Well for those of you who didn't know the government have to buy from the
lowest bidder. So in order to use any high–tech software like this you would need a whole lot of
money. So their group would have to be privately owned by some fat cat or sponsored. The US
Government always uses a soft ware that is one cycle out of production when it comes to soft ware
because you don't have to worry about those oh so annoying updates. So Ryan Wolfe decrypted a
deleted file, yes this is more than possible and they even show him using Command–line Keywords
used for Archive, Delete, Report, and Restore Requests. As a cyber security major I can tell you this
is spot on accurate, so to speak. But a CSI member would not be doing this it would probably be a
computer specialist and not your local CSI member. Also why would a CSI member even be looking
up credit card receipts? They wouldn't, it would be a detective not Ryan Wolfe. Getting the credit
card receipts of a set time period in less than twenty four hours is also farfetched. From what I was
told and read, CSI rarely interrogate witnesses. Yet in this episode we see at least eight
interrogations

A Short Story Of Dovian's Argue: A Narrative Fiction
The Giants that may still roam Dovian stood at the edge of steep, brittle cliff surveying the desolate
landscape of which he used to call home. From a distance, Dovian looked like a stark silhouette
against the everlasting warped earth behind him. Dovian was tall among the destroyed objects
around him, his hair a warm shade of red. His eyes were the colors of a frozen blue, the color of
delicate icicles that were reflecting the sky above them in a clear winter's day. Dovian had a
eccentric, misshaped scar along the side of his body. No one knows where this mysterious scar came
from, only that it was not a natural thing. Dovian was in a deep thought, searching for an answer he
may never find. Time began to elapse, and before he knew it, the ... Show more content on

the bland, naked body of Dovian, strapped to a large pole. Dovian turned, unaware of his
surroundings, and was looking straight into the eyes of Zubious. "AHH... YOU HAVE FINNALY

looked down at the mix of rocks and blood, blood spilled from his body.
"No," Dovian replied, "No I do not know. Would you care to enlighten me, foul beast?" There was a
swift swing of Zubious's fist to Dovian's shattered rib cage. Blood began to flow from the newly
opened wound like a crimson river. Dovian shrieked as the large, scaled hand was removed, taking
flesh and bone with it. Without hesitation, Zubious took a white–hot plate and stuck it right in the
exterior of Dovian's wound, cauterizing it instantaneously. "FUNNY FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL

"Why won't those gates break down? I'm losing too many soldiers." Whined General Zhousbek,

the palace, he began encountering soldiers stationed upon the roofs and decided to return to the
streets where he could blend in with the frantic crowds more than a lone individual traveling by

barrel of the building directly across from the gates. He observed two armor–clad guards armed with
spears standing just inside and miraculously, had not discovered him since they were all too busy
assisting the patrol that had just come through the gate, its wagons filled with hot steaming

Las Vegas Movie Analysis
Before watching this movie, I thought Las Vegas is a place that shapes many people's life and
decides their destinies. And the only determine factor of winning money is luck. For example, when
two people bring the same amount of money to Las Vegas, one of them may become a millionaire
and another person may lose everything during one night. However, after watching this movie, my
impression to statistics has totally changed. It seems that people can use statistics to help gain the
greatest advantages in many circumstances. Also, I saw the dark side in human nature. Teacher
Mickey is a main character in the movie. He is a greedy, ambitious person who uses his students to
earn money. Obviously, he is not a qualified teacher. Therefore, I think society should pay more
attention to select teacher, because teacher can directly influence the next generation.
In this movie, the main character Ben is a college student who is good at math. He receives Harford
Medical School's offer, however, he doesn't have enough money to pay the tuition. At this time, his
calculus professor notices his talent on calculating. Then the professor invites him to become a
member of a math group and uses his talent to earn money in Las Vegas. The professor finds that

into a life of comfort. Franks Uncle Mr. Whitley, who Dick looks up to because he represents Dick's

completely changed Dick's socioeconomic rank. From the moment Dick get the grey suit from Mr.
Whitley and gets cleaned up not only does he receive better treatment, but in a scene where he and
Frank are accused of stealing something on a train, they are acquitted because they did not look like

ultimately inner virtues like honesty, generosity, and courage that defines one's self and its potential.
Looks can be deceiving. When Dick has his suit on he is not known as Ragged Dick anymore. The

What Does Manley's Anima Exhibit Itself?
1) What does Manley's anima exhibit itself? A– Manley's anima is not as obvious in the story as
Hulga's animus because Manley is the static character in the story. Manley displays his anima
characteristics such as "assertiveness" and "control". He is assertive in his efforts to fool Hulga and
maintains control of the situation by stealing her leg (Anima and Animus). 2) How does Hulga's

Benedict Arnold in the Revolutionary War Essay
Battle of Ticonderoga Prior to the war Arnold became a captain in the Governor's Second Company
of Guards. Eager for action, Arnold and his men marched off to Cambridge and asked for the
commission of the Massachusetts committee of safety to capture Fort Ticonderoga. Along the way
Arnold's group met up with Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys. Despite their differences the
groups successfully captured the fort on May 10th by surprising the British Garrison. As the Green
Mountain Boys raided the rum stores Arnold was in an argument about credit in capture of the fort.
Arnold lost the argument and he received very little credit in the report to Congress. Arnold was
about to proceed with his own plans until the Massachusetts Committee ... Show more content on

The conditions were hard and some of of Arnold's men deserted and took much–needed supplies
with them. Arnold was left with 600 men and they were reduced to eating candles, dogs, and shoe

respect of his men and the nickname as America's Hannibal. The Battle of Quebec (1775) Arnold
had planned to take Quebec but a rainstorm had prevented any movement for up to three days. In the
three days the intercepted letter allowed British to bring more reinforcements for more protection.
Arnold then waited for reinforcements from Colonel Montgomery who had lost men due to the
expiration of their subscription. Arnold was soon to lose a number of his own for the same reason
and to smallpox which broke out among the American forces. As snow began to fall and the battle
began on December 31, 1775 but things went badly for the Americans as Colonel Montgomery fell
and Arnold was severely wounded in the leg. Daniel Morgan was forced to takeover but they were
trapped and without knowledge of the area they were forced to surrender. Arnold refused to
surrender by saying that they would not leave unless they were successful then he started bellowing
orders from his sickbed. Arnold also requested for reinforcements that he received in small amounts.
In the end the battle was a bust but Arnold was praised by Washington

How Did Horatio Gates Have On American Society
Individual Leaders and their effect on American Society By analyzing the leadership styles and
character traits of Horatio Gates, a suitable general in the Continental Army, and George
Washington, a virtuous man, an understanding of the necessary victory for America is perceived as
the leaders are contrasted. Horatio Gates and George Washington had a bitter rivalry in the midst of
the American Revolution. Gates' jealousy of Washington's power caused him to plot to overthrow
him and become general of the Continental Army. He also had a following of people who wanted
Washington out of power. Gates' followers proved their loyalty to him when they discussed him in
congress: "Gates is the general we want–the general the revolution needs!" (Beck 62). Gates'
supporters were tired of Washington's battles ending in defeat. They rallied behind Gates, who was
believed to be the hero of the battle of Saratoga. Gates' conspiracy fell apart when Daniel Morgan
proved that the true hero of Saratoga was Benedict Arnold. Glenn Beck narrates this in his book, "It
was Benedict Arnold who led the charge and saved the day! Horatio Gates is not half the general
George Washington..." (Beck 63). Morgan's speech to the troops in York raised morale and support
for Washington, which destroyed Gates' ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

cancelled by congress. When he wrote to congress stating that the expedition would benefit
individuals, but not the public, they sent his letter to Washington. Washington too, decided that
Gates' endeavours in Canada were unnecessary, and Gates never recovered. (Mintz) Gates'
cowardice was seen by the army, and their support for Washington rose. By 1778, Gates was no
longer a viable threat to Washington. Gates' mediocre attempts at Washington did not phase him, and

Essay The Music of Charles Ives
In 1894, a young, quietly colorful Charles Ives enters Yale University. He enters with a strong
musical foundation provided by his father and community and a vision of what he thinks music can
be. Horatio Parker, Ives's composition professor unashamedly informs Ives that his vision of music
seems blurry, perhaps even nauseating, to the astute, cultured musician. Ives quickly develops anger
towards Parker's traditional tutelage and rarely recognizes the positive effects Parker has on his
compositions. Here begins the battle between new and old that Ives and Parker embarked upon
during Ives's college years, however the story starts and ends far from their four short years together.

American composers, like William Billings, were able to write, for the most part, free from existing
patterns.
It wasn't until the mid 1800s that word came from Europe about these high–art composers, perhaps
scaring these once–free New World composers. From then on, the trend of aspiring American
composers was to make the pilgrimage to Europe for training. Composers such as George Chadwick
were some of the first to make the trip. Chadwick describes his studies abroad as having to
harmonize Bach chorales for four years . Correct voice leading and harmony was probably most
accurate when confused with that of Bach. This type of analysis and composition was brought back
as a trend, just as one might bring back the latest European fashion from Milan.
Even with composers writing one hundred years prior to the Second New England School,
American music was still in its infancy, often turning to the far more advanced European model for
guidance. I would imagine this to be similar to wanting to be taught how to hold chopsticks from
someone directly from Japan as opposed to someone from Uruguay, even though the person from
Uruguay may have better form that the person from Japan. Along with American composers
traveling to Europe for training, the New England School often sought guidance from Europeans
who had emigrated to the United States, namely those from Germany. I imagine that the Second
School had full intentions of creating

Benedict Arnold: Marked as a Traitor
Benedict Arnold was an American hero. He might have even been the best general the United States
had. But during a bleak moment of envy, hurt and distrust, an admirable leader turned into a monster
that could not be turned back. When he was at his lowest, he decided to surrender West Point, a fort
that was essential to the Americans during the Revolution, over to the British. He did not succeed,
but he still managed to get away before he was caught. Arnold's name was now to be forever
associated with treachery and dishonesty (Creighton). But has anyone stopped to think why
Benedict Arnold strayed onto the path of betrayal? What led him to be disloyal to a country he had
fought with since the French and Indian War? No one retaliates to an ... Show more content on

At Saratoga, General Horatio Gates did not want to send the troops in for battle, but Arnold realized
that the time for battle was now. He took command and led them in fearlessly while General Gates
stayed back at camp (Dell 63–64). Even with his quick thinking and military smarts, Arnold did not
receive the praise he deserved after winning the Battle of Saratoga, a turning point in the American
Revolution. Arnold was denied appreciation and credit time after time. He was always passed over
for promotion, even when he clearly earned it. After he basically gave a leg for the cause (Who
Served Here?), Congress promoted five of his juniors instead of promoting him. They did advance
his rank later, but he was still below the rank of the other five. They kept declining his requests to
restore his seniority, and did not do so until after the Battle of Saratoga, a whole year later (Kirby). It
was later found out that the only reason he was not promoted much earlier was that many people
were jealous of him (Creighton). Arnold also rarely got credit for his work. For example, at Fort
Ticonderoga, he aided the Green Mountain Boys in their capture, but because Arnold got into an
argument with Colonel Easton, the announcer of the Ticonderoga victory, the Green Mountain Boys
received all the credit (Benedict Arnold). This was not just a onetime mistake, however. At Saratoga,
Arnold was obviously the person who saved America

It was already dark outside after an overtime shift at work, I couldn't find any ride
home so I started walking. The street I'd usually take was blocked because of construction
workers. The weird thing is it was already dark outside and it was almost midnight. I don't
understand why there are still construction workers out. The route that I usually go to is a
shortcut to my house and the other route to my house is to go through a cemetery. Well,
since I had no other way, I went through the dark and silent cemetery. There was no one

Benedict Arnold: The Dark Eagle, Brian Richard Boylan, analyzes the historical figure not critically,

The events of the two years previous to Saratoga were very influential to Benedict Arnold. During
that time Benedict Arnold and George Washington were planning a double–pronged attack and
invasion of Canada, this would be accomplished by taking out Montreal and Quebec. The idea was
that the British commander in Canada, Sir Guy Carleton, could only defend one of the cities during
a simultaneous attack, which would leave an unprotected city to fall to the Americans. Montreal
would have to be sieged by moving northward through Lake Champlain, then into the waters of the
St. Lawrence River opposite Montreal. The route toward Quebec was far more complex. A force
would have to be guided along the raging Kennebec River, into the highland mountains of Maine,
over three lakes to the Dead River, then onto the Chaudière River, and on into the St. Lawrence
River opposite Quebec. During Washington’s meetings with Arnold, he was examined
Benedict very carefully, and he liked what he saw. In Washington’s mind there
wasn’t a better man for the job than Arnold, to lead the charge into Quebec. Arnold was
given independent command from Washington to lead troops through Maine and
attack Quebec. The other man that would complete the two–punch attack on Canada was General
Richard Montgomery, who would lead his troops to capture Montreal

The Locomotive Firefighters 's Magazine By William Graham...
In the 1893 edition of the Locomotive Firemen's Magazine, William Graham Sumner published a
piece on social Darwinism called the "Fruits of Evolution". In this article William Sumner applies
Darwin's law of evolution to labor. He believes that because of the "processes of evolution" human
intellect has become more robust and should be cultivated within the classroom. He argues "that
those who command the largest educational advantages control those of inferior opportunities". By
examining the works of other authors Sumner's law of evolution has proven to be false.

regularly reminded her that "soap and water are cheap. Anyone can be clean". Unfortunately, she
could not enjoy the same luxury. She worked eight hours a day doing other people's laundry so that
they could be clean and well dressed. She then had to rush to school with no time to wash unlike her

Why Did Omarina Grow So Much Better Than Her Brother...
1)The major reason Omarina was so much more successful than her brother would be because she
had the help and support from her peers and teachers while she was going through hard times. While
her brother didn't have any sort of help, and therefore he became a troubled kid.Evidence towards
this is shown in the film multiple times. The first time is when the film shows how an intervention
was done for her as she was not meeting the academic and attendance standards. The second major
reason she performed much better than her brother would be because how her teacher, Catherine
Miller would provide Omarina lots of academic and emotional support and was a mentor to her. An
example of this would be when Cathline said this " I felt as though it was really imperative to keep
very constant contact just to make sure that the adjustment was going well, but also knowing that
you know, many people were rooting for her to be successful here in the Bronx"This just proves

The Battle of Saratoga: The Turning Point of the American Revolution
The Revolutionary War is enshrined in American memory as the beginning of a new nation born in
freedom. (The Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, 1999) On 17 October 1777, the surrender of the
British during the Battle of Saratoga proved to the world that the American Army was an effective
fighting force. The American victory at Saratoga was a major turning point in the America's fight for
Independence. This victory also resulted in needed military support from European powers,
particularly France, against the British Empire. (Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 2006) The major

General John Burgoyne commanded 4,000 English regulars and 3,000 German Mercenaries. The
British force possessed 52 cannon to ensure they could defeat American fortified positions. The
American forces led by General Horatio Gates were comprised of 6,500 Continentals and 1,500
Militia. This number grew as time went on. By the end of the Campaign, the local Militia grew to
14,000 troops. The American forces rifleman utilized the Kentucky rifle that had a slower rate of fire
then the commonly used smoothbore musket, however it was capable of very accurate, aimed shots
at great range. (Furneaux, 1971)
In June of 1777, Burgoyne began movement south toward Albany. Initially the expedition met with
great success, however American forces slowed the British by blocking their path with fallen trees
and ambushes. (Gragg, 2011) Burgoyne's attempts to resupply were hampered by long and poorly
resourced supply lines. This allowed American forces strength to grow and establish defensive
positions South of Saratoga, at the farm of Colonial Loyalist John Freeman. (Furneaux, 1971)
Both Burgoyne and Gates utilized scouts to collect intelligence on enemy movements. Many Indians
deserted which resulted in Burgoyne's forces being essentially blind to American movements, while
American scouts reported on all of Burgoyne's forces movements. This advantage would lead to
Burgoyne splitting his forces into three columns. This was done

`` When They Aren 't Eating Us, They Bring Us Together :...
When it comes to survival Leah A. Murray in her article, "When They Aren't Eating Us, They Bring
Us Together: Zombies and the American Social Contract" suggests that individuals that have a
community built on a common goal gives these people the best odds of surviving a Posthuman
event. The episode "Killer Within" of The Walking Dead shows Rick, Carol, Maggie, Glenn, and
Daryl acting individualistic towards members not in their pre–established community in an effort to
protect themselves from potential dangers. However, T–Dog demonstrates a communitarian
approach by wanting to allow new people to join their community. According to Murray
Individualism is when individuals are self–reliant and put their needs in front of anyone else, and
communitarianism is when individuals put the needs of society above their own. These citizens
work together and have a sense of community and self–sacrifice. In The Walking Dead season three
episode, "Killer Within," Rick and his group demonstrate Murray 's concept of individualism as they
oppose the idea of adding new people to their group because they fear them. However, T–Dog
represents a communitarian approach as he strives to convince Rick and the others that the new
people should be initiated into Rick's group. In a previous episode, Rick and his group found
prisoners still alive and living inside the prison where they are also residing, but a few of them had
since died. Only two were known to still be alive. This episode begins by

Persuasive Essay On Recycling
With the rapidly increasing use of plastic, aluminum, and paper materials, it only makes sense that
the problem we chose to focus on is recycling. In the world of engineering, recycling has been a hot
topic for many years, so for one to say that deriving an idea that hasn't been done before is difficult,
that would be an understatement. As any group of well–educated engineers would, we started our
journey at the drawing board. The brainstorming process was potentially the most time consuming
section of our task, given we easily spent over fifteen hours spouting off ideas and concepts for
anything that we thought we could do that we could patent. We then realized it wasn't just about us
getting a patented idea, it was about making a difference. So, we then realized something that could
make a difference is one of the things that we have been taught the importance of since we were in
elementary school. That was recycling.
Now that the first step of the brainstorming process was over, which was finding a general problem
area, we then needed to figure out what in the world it was that we were going to do that no one else
had done before. After a couple of days of brainstorming, we quickly realized that instead of coming
up with a fresh idea, innovating what is imperfect was the perfect way to approach this. In order to
find where the problems laid, we had to go to the consumer. We began asking our friends, family,
and even a few random people what they thought the biggest issue was that was hindering them
from recycling. After a few conversations, accessibility and attraction seemed to be the greatest
factors.
With this in mind, we of course went back to the brainstorming process to figure out what exactly it
was that we were going to to do and how we would do it. After a few off the wall ideas, followed by
some mediocre ones, we decided we were going to innovate the recycling bin itself. We figured up a
plan to make the bin something that people could interact with and that could shred whatever
recyclable material that you put in it without requiring electric power. We then went with a slow,
torque based, hand crank that would be attached to some sort of shredding mechanism, one strong
enough to shred even

Analysis Of The Ocean At The End Of The Lane
The Ocean at the End of the Lane, written by Neil Gaiman, was awarded a National Book Award in
2014. This novel delves deep into a childhood story recalled from memory. It explains and discovers
the life of a boy as he undergoes significant changes and realizations throughout his life. Throughout
much of the novel, the narrator finds his safety in the Hempstocks home as they shield him from
Ursula and the portals to the supernatural world. The novel explores the idea of liminal spaces and
how the narrator is constantly trapped between the familiar and the complete unknown. Ursula
begins to bring the supernatural world into the narrator's life. Throughout The Ocean at the End of
the Lane, Gaiman explores the life of a young boy who is constantly battling the supernatural world.
The narrator discovers gates and portals that either shield him from danger or expose him to the
supernatural world and all it holds. The narrator grew up lonely, he never had any friends, he was
not outgoing, and he found solemn and comfort in reading books. In the beginning of the novel, the
narrator begins to identify himself with his childhood and how he grew up. The Hempstock women
become a shield for the narrator as he tries to defend himself from the ever changing supernatural
world. The narrator no longer feels safe and secure within his own house and his own family and he
turns to the Hempstocks for safety, "I wished my parents would send Ursula Monkton away, and
then I would go down to the

Essay about Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Artists
Christo had once said "The work of art is a scream of freedom." Christo is a sculptor who had
worked with his wife until her death in 2009. Christo had financed all of his projects himself. He
had raised money by selling small paintings he had created. But his main works of art were giant
wrappings of different things. His favorite wrappings were buildings or places seen everday by
people. By wrapping these places he was giving them a new identity. Christo has undertaken many
projects. One of the most well known was of the wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin. They used
thick woven polypropylene fabric with an aluminum surface which was 1,076,390 sq feet.
Also used 9.7 miles of rope. They only used recyclable materials as is the same for ... Show more

In 2007 and 2008, Christo and Jeanne–Claude contracted professors of engineering from Many
different Universities feasibility studies about The Mastaba.
The artists then hired the German engineering firm, to analyze these reports. They found a concept
that was the most technically sound and innovative. The entire substructure as well as the layer of
barrels will be assembled flat on the ground. Ten elevation towers will make it possible to raise the
entire structure on rails to its final position. Another project that christo is still working on is the
Running Fence. The Fence is 18 feet in height 24.5 miles long it extends east to west near freeway
101, north of San Francisco on the private properties of 59 ranches following the rolling hills and
dropping down to the Pacific Ocean at Bodega Bay. The Running Fence was completed on
September 10, 1976.
The art project consisted of 42 months and because it was a project that was not just in one are like
most of Christo's the collaborative efforts the ranchers' participation, 18 public hearings, three
sessions at the Superior Courts of California, the drafting of a 450–page Environmental Impact
Report and the temporary use of the hills, the sky and the ocean. All expenses for the temporary
work of art were paid by Christo and Jeanne–Claude through the sale of studies, preparatory
drawings and collages, scale models and original lithographs. The artists do not accept sponsorship

What 's A Name?
What's in a name?
As you stroll around the streets of Nelson, do we ever look up at the blue signs, wondering the
stories behind these names that roll off your tongue so everyday? Do you stop to picture Nelson, 170
years ago, imagining the people that walk the same path to work as you everyday, down Trafalgar
Street? These steps that the first settlers of Nelson made, have shaped our city, creating the perfect
base for following generations to make change upon. As generations have occupied Nelson, the
names of these streets have developed with our culture, creating change for the future; however, as
our society has changed, do the street names lose value? Do you walk down the street, forgetting
who walked before you and the stories in their footprints? Does this leave the importance of our
street names left behind, as our advances in society take over?
The New Zealand Company landed on Fifeshire, on February 1, 1841; led by Captain Arthur
Wakefield, who was followed by many English settlers, escaping the economic conditions of their
European nation, looking for a fresh start. The new emigrants began to settle into their new country,
with the continual stream of immigrants growing Nelson's population steadily, and with that came a
new town to build. The settlement was based around Church Hill, where the Nelson Cathedral
stands today, with Wakefield losing no time in getting his surveyors and labourers to work; marking
out the sections and streets of the newly formed town.

Essay on Battle of Saratoga
Battle of Saratoga
During the time of the American Revolution, there were many battles that took place and affected
the Revolution. One battle though, made a huge impact on the American Revolution. The Battle of
Saratoga proved that the disadvantaged and weaker American forces were strong enough to
overpower the British forces. It all started when General John Burgoyne needed to get his forces to
Albany. He and his army headed across the Hudson River, where they would then take a road south–
ward to Albany. Burgoyne knew the enemy (American forces) were in the area, but he did not know
of their exact location. Leading to the Battles of Bemis Heights and Freeman's Farm, the Battle of
Saratoga became known as a highly significant battle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freeman was a Loyalist who had earlier left for Canada. After about three hours of battle, the
Americans ran out of ammunition, making them have to retreat. The British then claimed victory at
Freeman's Farm.
Freeman's Farm was located on the west side bank of the Hudson River. It was right near Bemis
Heights, making it easy for people to build fortifications in the woods and high outcroppings. It was
located a few miles away from Burgoyne's destination of Albany. It was a perfect location for an
army to fight and keep themselves in somewhat of an alright sanctuary. During the Battle, both sides
used different tactics and strategies. Burgoyne decided to go with a risky strategy of dividing his
army into three columns, two towards Bemis Heights and one to follow the road that paralleled the
Hudson. The American forces (led by Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold) placed expert riflemen
(led by Daniel Morgan) in charge of taking out the left flank of the British (led by Simon Frasier).
This strategy worked well for the Americans, of course until they ran out of ammunition. The battle
(of Freeman's Farm) was officially ended when Burgoyne heard word from Sir Henry Clinton.
Clinton was getting ready to leave New York City and come assist Burgoyne with the continuous
battles. So, he told Burgoyne to hold back and wait for him to get there before he attacked the
Americans again. Burgoyne gave up his plan for attack

Essay On Family Portrayal In The Film The Castle

  • 1. Essay on Family Portrayal in the Film The Castle The Castle is a movie primarily about a family sticking together and their fight for the right to live in their own home. The Castle's portrayal of family is both positive and negative. The Castle depicts many positive images of the family throughout the movie. From the very start of the film, it is easy to see that the Kerrigans are a very close knit family. They always eat their dinner together, with the TV turned 'down', and talk about their day. Around the dinner table the family shows support for each other, and recognizes anything a family member may have achieved, like when Darryl beams with pride telling the family about how Dale dug a hole. The family also sets aside time after dinner for the family to watch TV together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Tracey and Con returned from their honeymoon, Darryl, Sal, Steve and Dale met them at the airport and walked them home. They then sat and talked for hours about the trip. This shows that the family enjoy spending time with each other, and are quite contempt to just sit and talk. Although there are many positive aspects of family depicted in The Castle, some portions of the film display negative images of family. One instance is where Steve's car window is smashed. Instead of reporting this to the police, Darryl and Steve go to the house of the man who was responsible, abuse him through the intercom, then proceed to tear down and steal the iron gates from the house. When the police question Darryl about the disappearance of the gates, he lies and says he had nothing to do with it, despite the gates sitting on the front lawn. This is definitely not a positive portrayal of family. Darryl and Steve also display a negative image of their family when a thug appears at their home to pass on a message. Steve sees what is happening and threatens the man with a gun. When he leaves, Darryl yells at Steve for having the gun, but then proceeds to ask where he bought it from and how much he paid. Although Darryl is not directly condoning the illegal use of a more than likely unregistered gun, he seemed more interested in the savings Steve made purchasing it than the fact he just threatened someone with it. • 3. Personal Narrative: My First Terrorist Attack I never thought that in my life I would be involved in a terrorist attack, until I was stuck in the mall while it happened. The night of September 17, 2016 my mom and I were heading to the St. Cloud Mall after my volleyball tournament in Park Rapids earlier that morning. We parked in the Macy's parking lot opposed to parking in the Scheels' parking lot, as we usually do. When we walked in we went to the dress section as I was searching for a homecoming dress. After finding nothing, we looked at the shoes. We ended up finding a pair of shoes, but didn't know if I could find a dress to match, so we didn't buy them. I looked in several different stores looking for my dress before running into JcPenney's where I found khaki shorts that we perfect for tourist day, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She didn't know much more but saw an angry man running out of Scheels. When one last couple joined us in the store, they closed the gate completely and told us to go in the back room. In the back room, I updated my Snapchat story about what was going on at the mall. The couple also told us that they also saw the man in Scheels bleeding from his back. The small group of us had casual small talk while I received messages and questions from my contacts on Snapchat. During this time, the employees came to tell us what was going on and verified that there were stabbings in Macy's and that when we were allowed to go, we would be heading to the food court. We sat in the food court for nearly three hours waiting to be released with little information of what was happening. I updated my Snapchat with the little information and with the information I was reading online. My mom and I ended up seeing the Hollister employees again and thanked them for telling us to go get the tagged removed, since we were heading to the Macy's. • 5. Essay On The Castle I had never been in the third tier before. It was a place that I did not belong with my coarse shirts and riding pants, even when they were not dirt covered. It was not just the clothes, there was no illusion I could put on myself that would make me fit in. There was something about the way they walked that spoke of wealth and sophistication. The gate to the fourth tier was even more guarded, two guards on each side in full battle gear. The sound of footsteps drew up eyes upward to see four more guards walking along the top of the wall, bows in hand. The increased security closer to the castle made sense, but the fact that the lower tiers that had a higher population had less protection seemed rather callous. I knew Terrans cared nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The front of the castle past the moot was a lot of green space and cobble stones, but that was all I could make out in the weak light. I was too panicked to take in details anyway. Instead of being taken toward the large gate in front of me, I was directed along the wall. There was a small wooden door set into the base of a drum tower in the wall. A guard saluted and unlocked the heavy wooden door. Kane let go of me and disappeared through it. I turned to look for an exit, but Captain Saban was crowding me to go down. I could not move. I took a few deep breaths, but they all got caught in my throat. Captain Saban nudged me. I took a step forward. It was pitch black inside. I put my hand out to feel the wall or anything and brushed against Kane. "You'll get used to it in a moment." Kane took my hand and placed it on his shoulder before he started downward. I blinked a few times to try and see my surroundings, but it was useless. Finally, I unfocused my eyes and gathered the stray light beams from a torch shining somewhere in the distance. There was not much to see, just stone walls streaked with grime and water. After what seemed like ages of the downward spiral, in which I thought we might walk into the center of the Earth where Terran held court, the ground leveled out. We entered a long corridor, torches blazing at different intervals that made me wince at the sudden brightness and hay littering the floor. Another guard, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a rare occurrence when an author can make a book stating real historical events and facts both readable and captivating. Although when it does occur, it gives the book a vibe that is usually evident in novels and fictions. In England's Mistress: The Infamous Life of Emma Hamilton the author, Kate Williams, is able to fully achieve this. The purpose of this book is to make evident to the reader just how famous Emma Hamilton was around the world and how she was able to rise to such a great magnitude of fame. Williams exemplifies the fact that Emma Hamilton was able to become the most famous female of her time through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The thesis that Kate Williams tries to prove throughout the story is that Emma Hamilton was able to gain her immense notoriety through her love affairs and her marriage. Emma Hamilton was born in April of 1765 with the name Amy Lyon. She was born into a family that was very poor, and was living in a "ramshackle huddle of thirty or so miners' hovels set in scrubby, stony, infertile land" (Williams, 3). This shows that right from the start, Amy Lyon (Emma Hamilton), had absolutely no privilege. Soon after her birth, Amy's father, Henry Lyon, died. According to the Kate Williams, the cause of his death was unknown. She does try to put forward many ideas as to how Henry died, such as Henry's wife and Amy's mom, Mary Foulkes, having something to do with his death, or Henry killing himself due to being drunk. What happened to Amy's father will never be known though, as there is no proof of one specific cause of death. Soon after, she begins working as servant for families but she is fired because she just is not good at it. She finally decides that at the very young age of twelve she would like to move to London in order to start over fresh and new, leaving behind her past. In London, after being fired as a maid for staying out way too late, Amy applied to work at Drury Lane Theatre. Drury Lane Theatre was described as "the most sensational spectacle in London" (39). • 9. Persuasive Speech Essay The crowd cheered, pumped by his inspiring speech, ready to build that wall. However, they could not leave, they had to see the moment which would surely go down in history books for tens of thousands of years. Grand Judge Arnold Schwarzenegger approached Donald Trump, Scepter of Destruction in hand. The Scepter of Destruction was the ultimate weapon of America Land. The Scepter of Destruction was about five feet long, and studded in gold, jewels and other valuables. The rod was made of solid gold, and weighed nearly one hundred pounds. The real action happened at the end of the Scepter. A purple orb, the Orb of Destruction, was located at the tip of the Scepter, and contained the power of all the world. It had never been used, for fear that it could destroy life as we knew it in one fatal swoop. Grand Judge Arnold Schwarzenegger knelt before the Mighty Donald Trump, presenting the Scepter up to him. Donald Trump grasped the handle, first with his right hand, and then with his left. As Donald Trump presented the Scepter to the onlookers, the Orb glowed a deep hue of purple, indicating that the person that held the Scepter was powerful enough to wield it . The majority of the crowd erupted into cheers, shoving to get the best view of the Scepter in all of its glory. "I will lead this country to the best of my ability," said Donald Trump, Scepter of Destruction in hand. "And with this Scepter of Destruction, I will bring reign on all of the World!" The events after that happened quickly. Grand Judge Schwarzenegger swore in Donald Trump and Mike Pence. "As Grand Judge, I decree that you, Donald Trump, are now the rightful leader of America Land!" The crowd roared their approval as police forces struggled against the crowd of Hippies. Thunderous applause erupted within the crowd when Donald Trump returned to his podium. "We will make America, prosperous again," Donald Trump roared. "We will make America well again. We will make America great again!" Chapter 2 I awoke with a start as my alarm clock screamed in my ear. I sat up, still dazed from last nights parties and drinks. The alarm clock didn't help. Their only goal was to rescue their parents from Professor Cain and the mug monsters. The journey wasn't an easy one. Without parental guidance, they had to learn to find food for themselves and take care of themselves. Along the way, they encountered a three headed dragon that wanted what little food they had! "Food, I want food!" the dragon bellowed, spitting fire, smoke and ice at them. The girls ran without stopping until they crossed the gates of a city. Well for those of you who didn't know the government have to buy from the lowest bidder. So in order to use any high–tech software like this you would need a whole lot of money. So their group would have to be privately owned by some fat cat or sponsored. The US Government always uses a soft ware that is one cycle out of production when it comes to soft ware because you don't have to worry about those oh so annoying updates. So Ryan Wolfe decrypted a deleted file, yes this is more than possible and they even show him using Command–line Keywords used for Archive, Delete, Report, and Restore Requests. Also why would a CSI member even be looking up credit card receipts? They wouldn't, it would be a detective not Ryan Wolfe. A Short Story Of Dovian's Argue: A Narrative Fiction The Giants that may still roam Dovian stood at the edge of steep, brittle cliff surveying the desolate landscape of which he used to call home. Horatio Gates and George Washington had a bitter rivalry in the midst of the American Revolution. Gates' jealousy of Washington's power caused him to plot to overthrow him and become general of the Continental Army. He also had a following of people who wanted Washington out of power. Gates' followers proved their loyalty to him when they discussed him in congress: "Gates is the general we want–the general the revolution needs!" (Beck 62). Gates' supporters were tired of Washington's battles ending in defeat. They rallied behind Gates, who was believed to be the hero of the battle of Saratoga. He enters with a strong musical foundation provided by his father and community and a vision of what he thinks music can be. Horatio Parker, Ives's composition professor unashamedly informs Ives that his vision of music seems blurry, perhaps even nauseating, to the astute, cultured musician. Ives quickly develops anger towards Parker's traditional tutelage and rarely recognizes the positive effects Parker has on his compositions. American composers, like William Billings, were able to write, for the most part, free from existing patterns. It wasn't until the mid 1800s that word came from Europe about these high–art composers, perhaps scaring these once–free New World composers. From then on, the trend of aspiring American composers was to make the pilgrimage to Europe for training. Composers such as George Chadwick were some of the first to make the trip. Chadwick describes his studies abroad as having to harmonize Bach chorales for four years . Correct voice leading and harmony was probably most accurate when confused with that of Bach. This type of analysis and composition was brought back as a trend, just as one might bring back the latest European fashion from Milan. Even with composers writing one hundred years prior to the Second New England School, American music was still in its infancy, often turning to the far more advanced European model for guidance. I would imagine this to be similar to wanting to be taught how to hold chopsticks from someone directly from Japan as opposed to someone from Uruguay, even though the person from Uruguay may have better form that the person from Japan. Along with American composers traveling to Europe for training, the New England School often sought guidance from Europeans who had emigrated to the United States, namely those from Germany. • 43. Benedict Arnold: Marked as a Traitor Benedict Arnold was an American hero. He might have even been the best general the United States had. But during a bleak moment of envy, hurt and distrust, an admirable leader turned into a monster that could not be turned back. When he was at his lowest, he decided to surrender West Point, a fort that was essential to the Americans during the Revolution, over to the British. He did not succeed, but he still managed to get away before he was caught. Arnold's name was now to be forever associated with treachery and dishonesty (Creighton). But has anyone stopped to think why Benedict Arnold strayed onto the path of betrayal? What led him to be disloyal to a country he had fought with since the French and Indian War? No one retaliates to an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At Saratoga, General Horatio Gates did not want to send the troops in for battle, but Arnold realized that the time for battle was now. He took command and led them in fearlessly while General Gates stayed back at camp (Dell 63–64). Even with his quick thinking and military smarts, Arnold did not receive the praise he deserved after winning the Battle of Saratoga, a turning point in the American Revolution. Arnold was denied appreciation and credit time after time. He was always passed over for promotion, even when he clearly earned it. After he basically gave a leg for the cause (Who Served Here?), Congress promoted five of his juniors instead of promoting him. They did advance his rank later, but he was still below the rank of the other five. They kept declining his requests to restore his seniority, and did not do so until after the Battle of Saratoga, a whole year later (Kirby). It was later found out that the only reason he was not promoted much earlier was that many people were jealous of him (Creighton). Arnold also rarely got credit for his work. For example, at Fort Ticonderoga, he aided the Green Mountain Boys in their capture, but because Arnold got into an argument with Colonel Easton, the announcer of the Ticonderoga victory, the Green Mountain Boys received all the credit (Benedict Arnold). This was not just a onetime mistake, however. At Saratoga, Arnold was obviously the person who saved America ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The street I'd usually take was blocked because of construction workers. The weird thing is it was already dark outside and it was almost midnight. I don't understand why there are still construction workers out. The route that I usually go to is a shortcut to my house and the other route to my house is to go through a cemetery. Well, since I had no other way, I went through the dark and silent cemetery. There was no one else but the dead and I in that cemetery. In the book: Benedict Arnold: The Dark Eagle, Brian Richard Boylan, analyzes the historical figure not critically, but objectively. He examines the forces that possibly could have driven Benedict Arnold to turn his back on the country that he fought for so dearly. Boylan also points out that the man who Arnold did most of his negotiations with, Major General John André, was strikingly similar to Arnold, and that the two men were brought together under one woman, Miss Peggy Shippen. The events of the two years previous to Saratoga were very influential to Benedict Arnold. During that time Benedict Arnold and George Washington were planning a double–pronged attack and invasion of Canada, this would be accomplished by taking out Montreal and Quebec. The idea was that the British commander in Canada, Sir Guy Carleton, could only defend one of the cities during a simultaneous attack, which would leave an unprotected city to fall to the Americans. Montreal would have to be sieged by moving northward through Lake Champlain, then into the waters of the St. Lawrence River opposite Montreal. The route toward Quebec was far more complex. A force would have to be guided along the raging Kennebec River, into the highland mountains of Maine, over three lakes to the Dead River, then onto the Chaudière River, and on into the St. Lawrence River opposite Quebec. During Washington’s meetings with Arnold, he was examined Benedict very carefully, and he liked what he saw. In Washington’s mind there wasn’t a better man for the job than Arnold, to lead the charge into Quebec. Arnold was given independent command from Washington to lead troops through Maine and attack Quebec. In the 1893 edition of the Locomotive Firemen's Magazine, William Graham Sumner published a piece on social Darwinism called the "Fruits of Evolution". In this article William Sumner applies Darwin's law of evolution to labor. He believes that because of the "processes of evolution" human intellect has become more robust and should be cultivated within the classroom. He argues "that those who command the largest educational advantages control those of inferior opportunities". By examining the works of other authors Sumner's law of evolution has proven to be false. Horatio Alger Jr. tells the story about a young boy named Ragged Dick. The dean of her college even refused to give her the diploma and recommend her as a teacher because she was not clean and properly dressed. Many people talk about her appearance and regularly reminded her that "soap and water are cheap. Anyone can be clean". Unfortunately, she could not enjoy the same luxury. Why Did Omarina Grow So Much Better Than Her Brother... 1)The major reason Omarina was so much more successful than her brother would be because she had the help and support from her peers and teachers while she was going through hard times. While her brother didn't have any sort of help, and therefore he became a troubled kid.Evidence towards this is shown in the film multiple times. The first time is when the film shows how an intervention was done for her as she was not meeting the academic and attendance standards. The second major reason she performed much better than her brother would be because how her teacher, Catherine Miller would provide Omarina lots of academic and emotional support and was a mentor to her. An example of this would be when Cathline said this " I felt as though it was really imperative to keep very constant contact just to make sure that the adjustment was going well, but also knowing that you know, many people were rooting for her to be successful here in the Bronx"This just proves how close the two were. ... By the end of the Campaign, the local Militia grew to 14,000 troops. The American forces rifleman utilized the Kentucky rifle that had a slower rate of fire then the commonly used smoothbore musket, however it was capable of very accurate, aimed shots at great range. This allowed American forces strength to grow and establish defensive positions South of Saratoga, at the farm of Colonial Loyalist John Freeman. Murray in her article, "When They Aren't Eating Us, They Bring Us Together: Zombies and the American Social Contract" suggests that individuals that have a community built on a common goal gives these people the best odds of surviving a Posthuman event. The episode "Killer Within" of The Walking Dead shows Rick, Carol, Maggie, Glenn, and Daryl acting individualistic towards members not in their pre–established community in an effort to protect themselves from potential dangers. However, T–Dog demonstrates a communitarian approach by wanting to allow new people to join their community. According to Murray Individualism is when individuals are self–reliant and put their needs in front of anyone else, and communitarianism is when individuals put the needs of society above their own. These citizens work together and have a sense of community and self–sacrifice. In The Walking Dead season three episode, "Killer Within," Rick and his group demonstrate Murray 's concept of individualism as they oppose the idea of adding new people to their group because they fear them. However, T–Dog represents a communitarian approach as he strives to convince Rick and the others that the new people should be initiated into Rick's group. In the world of engineering, recycling has been a hot topic for many years, so for one to say that deriving an idea that hasn't been done before is difficult, that would be an understatement. As any group of well–educated engineers would, we started our journey at the drawing board. The brainstorming process was potentially the most time consuming section of our task, given we easily spent over fifteen hours spouting off ideas and concepts for anything that we thought we could do that we could patent. We then realized it wasn't just about us getting a patented idea, it was about making a difference. So, we then realized something that could make a difference is one of the things that we have been taught the importance of since we were in elementary school. That was recycling. Now that the first step of the brainstorming process was over, which was finding a general problem area, we then needed to figure out what in the world it was that we were going to do that no one else had done before. After a couple of days of brainstorming, we quickly realized that instead of coming up with a fresh idea, innovating what is imperfect was the perfect way to approach this. In order to find where the problems laid, we had to go to the consumer. We began asking our friends, family, and even a few random people what they thought the biggest issue was that was hindering them from recycling. After a few conversations, accessibility and attraction seemed to be the greatest factors. With this in mind, we of course went back to the brainstorming process to figure out what exactly it was that we were going to to do and how we would do it. After a few off the wall ideas, followed by some mediocre ones, we decided we were going to innovate the recycling bin itself. We figured up a plan to make the bin something that people could interact with and that could shred whatever recyclable material that you put in it without requiring electric power. We then went with a slow, torque based, hand crank that would be attached to some sort of shredding mechanism, one strong enough to shred even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These steps that the first settlers of Nelson made, have shaped our city, creating the perfect base for following generations to make change upon. As generations have occupied Nelson, the names of these streets have developed with our culture, creating change for the future; however, as our society has changed, do the street names lose value? Do you walk down the street, forgetting who walked before you and the stories in their footprints?
