Life in the North East

Initial Idea
– A montage style film that boosts the morale of concert life in the North East
– Concert life in the North East for young (16-20 year olds) based in the North-East
– Music is very popular among young people
– A montage of concert clips which highlight how good concert life is
– An array of different artists with different genres entertaining an audience

Why is this suited?
– The target audience are the most likely to attend concerts, especially for
currently charting artists who are touring
– In 2015, %35 of Spotify users were aged 16-24
– Multiple hundreds of thousands of concert tickets are sold for the North East
– Concert attendees are passionate and will most likely tune in
– There is a high demand for more concerts in the North East

Relevance To The North East
Music is a very strong love of people in the North East, everywhere you go the
public will either be talking about or listening to music. Therefore, I know that this
video will be a success as it will be something that will spark peoples interest.

- Perrie and Jade of Little Mix
- Arctic Monkeys
- Zayn Malik
The North East is seen as not having a lot of representation as a lot of the artists
from the areas don’t tour as much or are not known very well anymore. As a result,
we have a reputation that no one tours here or releases current, popular music.
As a result, my video would raise awareness and raise the reputation for music and
opportunities in the area.

– The different people who come here
– The atmosphere of North East crowds
Codes and Conventions
This video is a single camera, documentary influenced, promotional videos created
to showcase concerts in the North East. This means it will follow most of the
documentary style codes and conventions but will differ in some areas as it isn’t
technically a documentary but more of a persuasion influential video. This means it
will only show the positive sides of North East concerts and will make them look
irresistible. Although, it will stick to some of the more conventional documentary
features like the real event footage being displayed through the concert clips, all
including diegetic sounds, even while mixed in with the use of titles and text, which
is another convention of a documentary video. The kind of documentary this will
pay homage to is the observational pieces of work.

Shooting script
– 14 weeks
– 1. gather information on audience, what do they want? Need?
– 2. look at past examples or issues
– 3. develop pitch and research
– 4. gather clips from concerts in the past, contact others- do they have any?
– 5. edit clips together and add in the title screens
Shooting Script
Weeks Stage
1-3 Brainstorm ideas and target audience and further develop ideas to see how and if they would work
Look at past examples of work produced in the North East
Finalise idea and develop background research
4-6 Develop pitch by doing in depth research of past videos and opinions of those who will be watching the
product
Look at what has been popular and what hasn’t
7-9 Collect clips from my own library and ask others if they have any (remember to credit them)
10-12 Start piecing together the clips
Still do research, is there anything new or current people want to see?
13-14 Edit and finalise end product

Initial Idea – A montage style film that boosts the morale of concert life in the North East – Concert life in the North East for young (16-20 year olds) based in the North-East – Music is very popular among young people – A montage of concert clips which highlight how good concert life is – An array of different artists with different genres entertaining an audience

Why is this suited? – The target audience are the most likely to attend concerts, especially for currently charting artists who are touring – In 2015, %35 of Spotify users were aged 16-24 – Multiple hundreds of thousands of concert tickets are sold for the North East – Concert attendees are passionate and will most likely tune in – There is a high demand for more concerts in the North East

  • 9. Why produce this? – There is a high demand for North East concert promotion and representation – Easily targets a specific demographic – Will engage a large, passionate audience – Shows positive aspects to life in the North East
  • 10. Relevance To The North East Music is a very strong love of people in the North East, everywhere you go the public will either be talking about or listening to music. Therefore, I know that this video will be a success as it will be something that will spark peoples interest. Some artists from the North East: - Cheryl Cole - Perrie and Jade of Little Mix - Arctic Monkeys - Zayn Malik The North East is seen as not having a lot of representation as a lot of the artists from the areas don’t tour as much or are not known very well anymore. As a result, we have a reputation that no one tours here or releases current, popular music. As a result, my video would raise awareness and raise the reputation for music and opportunities in the area.

  • 12. Codes and Conventions This video is a single camera, documentary influenced, promotional videos created to showcase concerts in the North East. This means it will follow most of the documentary style codes and conventions but will differ in some areas as it isn’t technically a documentary but more of a persuasion influential video. This means it will only show the positive sides of North East concerts and will make them look irresistible. Although, it will stick to some of the more conventional documentary features like the real event footage being displayed through the concert clips, all including diegetic sounds, even while mixed in with the use of titles and text, which is another convention of a documentary video. The kind of documentary this will pay homage to is the observational pieces of work.

Shooting Script Weeks Stage 1-3 Brainstorm ideas and target audience and further develop ideas to see how and if they would work Look at past examples of work produced in the North East Finalise idea and develop background research 4-6 Develop pitch by doing in depth research of past videos and opinions of those who will be watching the product Look at what has been popular and what hasn’t 7-9 Collect clips from my own library and ask others if they have any (remember to credit them) 10-12 Start piecing together the clips Still do research, is there anything new or current people want to see? 13-14 Edit and finalise end product
