This document outlines a diversity modelling project being undertaken by a group of students in the northeast of England. The project aims to challenge stereotypes and judgements about models based on their appearance or background. It will involve photoshoots, interviews with former models, and using social media to gauge public opinions. The group hopes to boost their skills in areas like camerawork, editing, teamwork and confidence through completing the project.

1. Diversity modelling project
Development
I am goingto do a documentaryonhowdiversityisseeninthe north east;thisdocumentarywill
include photoshootsandmodelling.Ouraimisto changes people’s opinionsaboutdifferentmodel
stereotype’s,andthe waypeople judgepeople accordingtoperhapsthere style orskincolourwhich
I don’tthinkisfairas thisiswhyI want to puta stopto it, I will be workingina groupfor thisproject
and our modelsatthe end will feel more comftable onthe camera,as some of ourmodelsare
beginnersinfrontof the cameraas modellingisnotjustaboutposingdifferentwaysinfrontof a
camera.

The target audience will be teenagersfrom16 upwards.Thisisa goodage as thisiswhenthey
decide whattheywantto doas a career.Thisprojectwill have lotstodo withsocial mediaasall of
people’s opinionsare basedall aroundsocial mediasothisprojectwill give the teensanideahow
harsh the mediacan reallybe careerwise.
I will be doingsome one toone interviewswithformermodelssoIwill have anideawhatthe career
islike inthe real world,thiswill alsoperhapsgive ussome motivationandsome interestingideaswe
couldpropose and interpretintoourproject.A good ideawhichIwill be doingisgoingonsocial
mediaandfindingtweetsorpostsaboutfamouspeople thatpeople commenthate onandwe can
reflectonthese asto whytheygot hate and whypeople judge people onwhattheylooklike and
whotheyare.
In doingthisproductionIfeel like Iwillgainmore confidence workingwithacameraalsoediting,
beinginfrontof the cameraand teamworkskillsaswe will be workinghardasa group.So this
projectwill reallybenefitme toboostmyskillsandconfidenceup.
My original ideawasaboutderelict/abandonedbuildingsinthe northeast.Buta lot of the media
classhad the same ideaandI wantedtothinkof somethingmore interestingIcouldwrite aboutand
workas part of a team withotherpeople inthe class.Ialsodidsome research andnot many
abandonedplacesare situatedinthe northeastall of the biggermore excitingonesare located
outside of the UK inbiggercountries.Alsomostderelict/ abandonedplaces are private landsowe
wouldhave nofilmingpermissiontofilmandshootinthese locations.WhenthenIrealisedthatI
will nothave muchto write aboutand itwouldjustgetboring.So I decidedtodothisdocumentary

There isa lothappeninginthe modellingindustryrightatthispresenttime aswe have huge
magazine companiessuchasvogue, cosmopolitan andElle.There isalotof fashionshowshappen
regularlyinthe USA and biggercitieslike New YorkandParisisreallypopularforthe fashionand
modellingindustry.Howeversayingthisthere isfashionmodelseverywhere aswellasinthe north
east.If you love the latesttrendsandkeepingupwithfashiontrendsanyone thatisconfident in
frontof the camera couldbe a model.
I will researchintogettingthe fashionnorthgirlsinvolvedfromthe Sunderland University asthey
have a lot of experience inthe modellingindustryastheyhave metformermodelsandtheyalso
model themselvesaspartof theirmodules.Ialsoknow thatTeresaisnew to modellingbutwiththe
helpof formermodelsandfashionstudentsshe will be justagreat.
We will be advertisingthe modellingideasonsocial mediasowe canget lotsof honestreviewsand
people’sopinionswhichwill helpme loadsbecause diversityisall aboutpeoplesopinionsandwhat

3. The problemswe wouldface are filmingissues,aswe wouldhave tobookoutequipmentfor
example atripodanda camera for shootingthe modellingscenes. Alsoif we gointopublicaswe
have a college timetable we will have togetintouchwithour tutor whoisin charge of us forthe
registersowe can get educational leave forworkingonthisprojectoutof college if needed.We also
mightneedpermissionif we are filmingperhapsinthe bridgesinthe towncentre asitis private
propertyandis ownedandthere will alsobe publicaroundandwe wouldhave toask some of them
for permissionif we hadtofilma scene where there ispeopleperhapswalkingabout. We alsoneed
to make sure we are lookingafterthe borrowedequipmentasitisn’t our ownpropertyandis the
colleges,sowe needtobe extracautiouswhenfilming.

include voiceovers andinterviewswithformermodels,explaining theirthoughtsandanytipsand
trick theyhave forus to interpretintoourowndocumentary.We will be alsogoingtodoa modelling
stuntin publictosee what reaction’s we getso we can reflectonwhatsocietythinksof different
typesof modellinginthe northeast.
In our groupwe will have Matthew filmingthe modellingshootsandthe photography,Lailawillbe
doingthe musicand modellingalso alongside Teresa,Iwill be alsofocusingonthe musicbutmore
importantly focusingonthe makeupandthe backstage role of gettingthe modelsall glammedup
readyto shoot.
The firstshoot will be fire andice themed.The secondone willbe somethingmore differentlike
boho/hippie themed.We willbe printinglotsof photographsouttomake a portfolioof ourwork.
