Define: Know Your Requirements  It is best to understand these requirements during initial conversations, so make sure you ask  If not met, some of these requirements will become showstoppers, better to learn this early in the sales cycle, than realize too late that the deal was never possible  Assess: Need to assess the current state of your company compared to the requirements  What are the gaps between where you are and where you need to be?  What will it take to get there?  Will the company work with you to achieve these requirements over time?  Build: Building towards security and compliance doesn't require re-inventing the wheel, but it does require commitment by the entire company to achieve  Cloud Service Providers and other vendors have numerous solutions available that can help streamline these efforts  Knowing your requirements will help to restrict the scope of your efforts and shorten your timeline  Validate; While some companies are comfortable accepting Security Questionnaires as validation  Many will ask for independent validation from a third party that the requirements are in place  Build this relationship early and seek guidance along the way   Obtain certifications and assessments as needed based upon time, need, and maturity of your company
