2. I used many different media technology's in the construction of my media
products, I initially used a Fujifilm Camera to take the photos for my
ancillary tasks, to keep everything the same I then used the same camera
to produce my trailer. The same camera is used throughout the
construction of the trailer to keep things neat and tidy.
When I was in the construction stages of creating my media product I also
used windows movie maker to edit and produce the trailer. This allowed
me to edit, add the soundtrack and add captions all on the same
programme. Although the programme was useful in these respects,
however the programme froze on many occasions and was often slow so
therefore production took longer overall, if I was to do this again an
investment in new technology would be useful so I was more efficient in
the production stage of making my trailer.
For the construction of my ancillary tasks I used the programme
Photoshop, this was useful because it allowed me to edit the photos to
make them fit in with the classical film noir conventions. I also used this to
add text to the magazine front cover and the poster, this allowed me to link
this with the classical magazine and poster conventions. This was one of
the most efficient sections of my construction as I was able to construct all
of my ancillary tasks on one programme
3. I used Flickr to analyse and evaluate different media products
and to make it easier to see the different conventions in the
poster or magazine front cover. This was a useful tool as it
allowed me to analyse and add notes to the shots easily and it
allowed me to present them well on my blog. However I found
that Flickr was quite time consuming and you cant view it on my
blog, you have to click on the picture so notes don’t appear up
straight away.
Also I used Slide Share to present my findings into the film noir
genre itself. I have found this useful because I was able to imbed
the presentation into my blog, this was helpful because it makes
it easy to present. Slide share is a useful tool because you can
just make a presentation and just embed it onto your blog to
make it easier to view.
4. In the evaluation stage I used different presentation techniques to
show my range of presentation resources I have used, for my
evaluation question 2 I have used Prezi, which is a presentation tool
which allows my to create a presentation that is neat and takes you
round the subject, it made it easier to evaluate and analyse my work.
However although a useful tool it is also very time consuming.
For my evaluation question 3 I have used a camera to create a video
of what I have done about my audience research. This has allowed
me to use tool such as YouTube which has helped me to analyse my
work, the beauty of this is that I can expand on points and maybe
add things I didn’t think of before when speaking, however this is
more time consuming than a normal and it is also easy to go off the
point when you are talking so strong note taking is advised.
5. THE TECHNOLOGY I USED…
I used a range of technology in my media productions,
when I was creating the soundtrack I used a software that
allowed me to add sounds on top of each other and layer
sounds to make the soundtrack more dramatic sound and
to add tension and bold sharp sounds to the trailer. I
enjoyed using the software, however it was quite time
consuming and was sometimes harder to time it all to the
editing of the trailer, however I found that in the end it was
successful, giving the product a strong professional sound.
This will help promote my film as it will look less cheap and
look like a big budget film. I was quite controversial with
using this technology because I wanted to re create the
film noir feel by using traditional recording techniques and
actual instruments, this programme made it very efficient
and less time consuming, although I may have drifted
away from classical film noir genre in the sense of the
soundtrack but overall I have found that this has been
successful.
If I was to do it again I would first of all familiarise myself
with the software before I started creating because I fell
that I may have missed out on some additional software
that the programme offered. I feel that knowing how all
aspects of the programme worked I would be able to make
a stronger soundtrack.
6. WHEN IN PRODUCTION
STAGES When I was producing the film trailer we included some
dialogue, the easiest way to do this was in my opinion just
using the microphone on the camera. This could have
mass improvement as the wind makes the vocals less
clear and it picks up lots of interruptions, in my opinion a
better microphone would allow me to have a clearer
sound where dialogue is concerned, overall although a
better mic would be expensive I think it would make the
trailer much stronger. This will reinforce the highly
professional feel to the trailer. For example a film
microphone would muffle the sound of the wind and make
it less apparent it would also improve the quality of the
sound and only pick up the voices of the characters
speaking.
7. I used a range of materials to help aid the production process,
I used some older technology such as the camera and
windows movie maker which were quite basic, and then I used
programmes such as FL studio and Prezi which had wider
ranges of settings etc. and this allowed me to create a more
professional feel to the trailer.
One thing I have enjoyed with the technology side of the
production is using the new technology in the production
stages and then reverting it to represent an old style of film.
If I was to do this again I would use improved technology and
newer technology in the editing stage of my production
because I feel that this is the most time consuming stage and
could be made quicker and easier with improved technology.
