plan (PDP) is a structured and
supported process undertaken by
an individual to reflect upon their
own learning, performance, and/or
achievement and to plan for their
Personal, Educational, and Career
development.”

They allow professional and

ideas and facts about their industry.

Bulletin Board
They allow topics to be posted on
to the board to which subscription
members can add comments. E.g.

Range of qualifications to be used
to enhance existing skills. They are
delivered through awarding bodies
and training associations.

These are by far the most efficient
and economical method of
providing development for all
employees.

These are not necessarily
qualifications but courses that are
run with content aimed at
improvements to employees or their
management. E.g. courses related to

and Sustainable energy.

TIPS to carry out PDP activities
• You need to produce an evaluation of the effectiveness of the
planned development activities that you have under taken.
• An evaluation should contain a critical analysis of WHAT went
WELL and NOT so Well.
• Evaluation should contain Positive and Negative aspects.
Besides evaluations can contain advantages and disadvantages.
Above may allow you to complete following information's:
 A cross referencing of the development plan number
 A description of the development work undertaken
 An outcome in the form of YES or NO to its achievement
 The date that this was achieved
 An evaluation of the activity that was undertaken
TIPS to carry out PDP activities
There are number of areas that you could cover within the
evaluative descriptions that you will add to your development
plan:
• What abilities have been improved and how?
• Evidence of what skill levels have been achieved and how?
• Feedback from colleagues and line managers
• Feedback from event attendees as part of the development
activities
• Grading within a qualification achievement
This would highlight any activities that need carrying forward
into next year development plan that were not achieved.
TIPS to carry out PDP activities
Evidence that confirms you have achieved your development needs could include:
• Photographic digital images demonstrating additional skills
• Video recording of the demonstrations of additional skills
• Written reports detailing evidence of development
• Work based records with signed off achievements
• Certificates awarded for achievement /tasks/activities
• Witness statements recording what development work has been undertaken
• Observations records of a task that involves practical outcome
• Presentations done in the form of PowerPoint or Videos
• Online logs
• Essays
• Written reports
• Recordings of conversations detailing skills utilized
• Recording of telephone calls
• Customer feed back
• KPIs – Key Performance Indicators
• Letters
• Emailing detailing development

You need to take an overall holistic evaluation of
whether you have met those aims and objectives.
You need to be HONEST when you evaluate each
objective CRITICALLY
LASTLY
Evaluate if you have been Successful in
terms of meeting them

Any development outcomes that have not been
completed will need to be action planned. They are very
important because:
• Salary increments that may be associated with the
completion of all or parts of the development task.
• The promotional aspects of the development for
employment opportunities
• The benefits associated with self confidence & self
esteem
• Increased respect in your interactions with colleagues
