Evaluation question 2
1. How effective is the combination of your
main product and ancillary text?
2. The brief required my group and I to produce
a film trailer (main product) with a film poster
and film magazine front cover (ancillary
tasks). My group and I were influenced by
“The Purge” and “Black Mirror: White Bear”
3. My group and I quickly decided to feature the
protagonist in all three media texts. From an
institution perspective, we wanted the protagonist
“the Warden” to act as a unique selling point (USP).
We also decided to include similar fonts and
colours across all media texts.
4. My group and I analysed the front covers of “Total
Film” and “Empire”. We also decided to analyse film
posters: mise-en-scene, iconography and
typography. We quickly discussed that thrillers
(genres) often used upper case lettering and
colours which connoted death and danger: red and
black. In addition, lower case italicised lettering is
often used for romance- comedy and animation
films(genre). Upper case letting across media texts
was used.
5. The group decided to make the Working Title:
The Hunted (anchorage) text, the most
important feature of the film magazine (USP).
This is a convention of film magazines and
typically magazines in general.
6. It may have been beneficial to feature all the
characters featured in Working Title: The
Hunted.
