2. The genre i chose for my film is supernatural
horror. Since horror films are getting
widespread popularity in this modren era
therfore i chose horror as my film genre.
Hollywood being the largest industry
produces the most number of horror films,
Warner Bros part of the big six is the largest
media conglomerate in terms of film
production and distribution have produced
some top hit horror movies. Some of the
horror movies by Warner include: Texas
Chainsaw, The Conjuring, Final
Destination,The Apparition, The Exorcist etc.
The Exorcist and The conjuring are counted
in the top ten list of highest grossed horror
films of all time doing a buisnesss of $233
million and $318 million simentanously.
3. Horror is a deep fear that strongly influences the dislike of something.
Horror films are made to provoke emotions of fear, terror and the
unknown. These horror films can have an effect of mental of
paralysis. This is when the audience will feel shocked and unable to
move from what they have seen. When people think of horror in a
film, they might think of blood, gore and violence. Horror can also
be used to describe a film containing supernatural themes, or
frightening or disturbing content. For my film I choose super natural
horror; Supernatural-Horror film is a sub-genre that includes ghosts,
demons, or other depictions of supernatural occurrences. Often,
Supernatural-Horror films combine elements of religion into the plot.
Common themes in Supernatural-Horror films include the afterlife,
the devil, and demonic possession. Unlike Religious Thrillers,
Supernatural-Horror films are not limited to specific religious elements
and can contain more vivid and gruesome violence.
4. Mise en scene
To portray a horror sequence most of the film makers go for haunted
houses. The mise en scene of horror genre is quite typical. for a
horror films usually isolated, abandoned or locations with a hidden
past are used this can create a sense of tension and how they are
alone, these are usually set at night time. However the setting for a
horror genre is varied and can be set in almost any location at any
time of day. I choose to shoot my movie in an office where a guy
named Lucas encounter the supernatural activities. The office is
empty which in turns creates suspense.
5. REFRENCE FILM
For my film I have taken a lot of inspiration from my reference film ‘The
Conjuring”. The conjuring one of the most highest grossed horror film of
all time has used particular horror genre codes and conventions. In my
film I used messages from the super natural force to create an horrifying
environment as done in the film Conjuring.

6. Characters
The main protagonist in my film is a middle aged man Lucas. He
is formally dressed and works at an office to earn is living. Lucas is
dedicated to his work and belong to a middle class family. He is
the victim of paranormal activities going around in his office. Lucas
is shown afraid and scared through out the film.
7. Characters
Lucas’s sister has a passive role in my film. She is a stereotypical
women doing household work. She only appears in the first scene of
the movie.
8. Editing Techniques
Editing techniques paly a key role in horror films. For my final film
I used Adobe premiere pro for editing. I used many different
editing techniques such as color balance to create a dark
environment which is a key aspect for horror films. I used Light
tunnel to create a point of view shot for the ghost.
The use of synchronous sound in my film created a terrifying
environment , the slow and steady horror music kept the audience
interest at all times.
9. Title
For the title of my film I used Adobe Photoshop. The title named
‘Obscuration’ is written with black thus giving a horror look with a
drop shadow.
10. Challenges
I challenged a major code of horror genre. Usually in horror films
females are shown as a victim of supernatural forces but in my film a
male character encounter these forces. The plot solely revolves
around Lucas who is afraid of the ghost.
