Taxi Booking System UML - Sequence DiagramTyler Mooney
The document describes two interactions between a customer, taxi booking system, car, driver, and booking. The first interaction shows a customer calling the taxi booking system to request a ride when there are less than 6 cars available. The system then checks a car, creates a booking, gets the first free driver, and assigns the driver to the car before storing and confirming the booking. The second interaction checks for a car with at least 4 seats if the time is 1:00pm and less than 10 bookings have been made, and then performs similar steps of checking, booking, storing, and confirming.

The document discusses characteristics of successful tech startups in Vietnam. It finds that on average, founders of successful startups were older at 28.8 years when starting their first successful company. They tended to gain experience through multiple jobs and startups before striking out on their own. Many had international exposure through work or study overseas. Successful founders also customized proven business models from other countries and were relentless, treating their startups like a marathon rather than a sprint by spending over 5 years on average building their companies. The document advises emulating these factors or being exceptional in other ways, but emphasizes taking action to actually start and build a company.

It proposes recommendations to improve the ecosystem such as increasing academic entrepreneurship, incentivizing industry R&D spending, and adjusting policies to encourage job and business creation through entrepreneurship rather than solely focusing on third-party employment. The overall message is that Cyprus needs to shift its mindset from an "egosystem" to one that truly supports startups and fosters an entrepreneurial culture and mindset to help startups succeed.

Orchestrating Your Global CMS; a planning frameworkBarbara Holmes
When it comes to a content management system (CMS) it’s tempting to jump into execution; to get that website or sites set up quickly. That’s how a CMS is sold, right? There’s a promise that the gnarly inter-departmental problems will melt away, that content will create itself, that with a flip of a switch your enterprise will be a global market leader.
The truth is that the magic of a CMS doesn’t happen without a lot of thinking and planning beforehand. Like a symphony orchestra, there are a lot of parts to coordinate and all must work in harmony to produce the desired results. This publication shares some of the things ISITE has learned through helping clients with CMS implementations, migrations, global rollouts, website redesigns, and content strategy.
This is an ebook that I wrote as my last thought leadership piece and content contribution to ISITE Design, December 2014.
A presentation I gave during the 20th Anniversary of Internet in the Philippines. Thanks to Jurist, Manny and Achie for some of the materials you contributed.

This document discusses emerging digital media markets in developing countries. It notes that over 80% of people live on less than $10 per day and mobile phones are the most affordable technology option. The document advocates designing products that can pay for themselves within a year to generate income for those living in poverty. It provides examples like a $25 treadle pump and M-Pesa money transfers that have helped families increase their income. The document argues for a revolutionary approach that views developing nations as business opportunities rather than just recipients of aid. Designers are encouraged to learn user behaviors and community needs to create appropriate solutions.

Webinar: Designing a schema for a Data WarehouseFederico Razzoli
Are you new to data warehouses (DWH)? Do you need to check whether your data warehouse follows the best practices for a good design? In both cases, this webinar is for you.
A data warehouse is a central relational database that contains all measurements about a business or an organisation. This data comes from a variety of heterogeneous data sources, which includes databases of any type that back the applications used by the company, data files exported by some applications, or APIs provided by internal or external services.
But designing a data warehouse correctly is a hard task, which requires gathering information about the business processes that need to be analysed in the first place. These processes must be translated into so-called star schemas, which means, denormalised databases where each table represents a dimension or facts.
We will discuss these topics:
- How to gather information about a business;
- Understanding dictionaries and how to identify business entities;
- Dimensions and facts;
- Setting a table granularity;
- Types of facts;
- Types of dimensions;
- Snowflakes and how to avoid them;
- Expanding existing dimensions and facts.

32. advice for
ENTREPRENEURS
Get to know the local culture, environment and players first. The
Philippines has a lot of Western elements and South East Asian
influences, though as an archipelago - it is quite diverse within
itself & carries distinct culture.
Anticipate that to get things done the way you want them, it will
take a little longer here.
Very few funding options, especially post seed stage - plan
accordingly!
Find a local you trust to help you, or ask the local community.
Everyone here is very ready to help!
33. Find local partners who can work closely with founders.
Late stage funding and liquidity are scarce. Focus on
investments that can generate cash early.
Not enough quality deals for setting local presence.
If you indicate any form of interest in the local market, the good
deals will find a way to come to you.
advice for
INVESTORS
34. CONCLUSION
The Philippine Startup ecosystem is still
in its infancy – funding is scarce, experienced
talent is hard to find, payment, delivery and
internet infrastructure is poor.
But for all those challenges, opportunities are
abound – the local market is big and competition
is still very low.
Widely spoken English and a super-friendly culture
makes the Philippines a great first base for
startups aspiring to tackle Southeast Asia.
