1. HAVE TO / DON’T HAVE TO (TENGO QUE / NO TENGO QUE)
Have + to infinitive -> expresses necessity can be used with different tenses.
Have + to infinitive -> expresa necesidad puede ser usado en diferentes conjugaciones.
Examples
I have to wear glasses, I’m short-sighted. Tengo que usar anteojos, soy corto de vista.
She had to go to the library for the book. Ella tuvo que ir a la biblioteca por el libro.

2. MUST / MUST NOT (DEBO / NO DEBO)
Must -> is used to express necessity, abstention, deduction.
Must -> se usa para expresar necesidad, abstención, deducción.
A) Necessity: present, future, and all-time. (Necesidad: presente, futuro, y en todo tiempo.)
Mr. Delgado must leave at 5:00.
(El señor Delgado debe salir a las 5:00.)
B) Abstention: is expressed by the negative. (Abstención se expresa con el negativo.)
We must not break the law. (No debemos quebrar la ley.)
Must + simple verb
C) Deduction: about a present situation. (Deducción sobre una situación presente.)
He gets terrible headaches. He must need glasses.
(Él tiene dolores de cabeza terribles. Él debe necesitar anteojos.)

USED OF MAY AND MIGHT
1. May and might are used to talk about possibility. (“May” y “Might” son usados para hablar de
posibilidades)
You may go for London for
vacation, if we can still afford it.
Puede que tú vayas a London por
vacaciones, si es que podrías pagarlo.
2. May: To ask permission in formal speech, and both may and might are used to make polite
suggestions. (Para pedir permiso formalmente y ambos “may” y “might”. Usados para dar
sugerencias)

● To talk about possible situation.
Eg. Those reports may prove to be
false.
● To politely ask for permission to do
something.
Eg. May we come in?
● To politely give someone permission to
do something.
Eg. That’s all for now, you may go.
● To admit that something is the case
before stating a contrasting fact.
Eg. The chorus may look silly, but they
sound great.
● To express a wish or hope.
Eg. They may be very happy in the
future.
● To refer to a possibility in the past but you
know it didn’t actually happen.
● To talk about hypothetical or conditional
scenario.
Eg. If I were Argentinian, I might see
immigration differently.
● To report past direct speech.
Eg. She said she might go out of working.
● To show annoyance or criticism because
someone could or should have done
something they didn’t do.
