THEMES AND NARRATIVE.
• FOR THIS IDEA, AS A GROUP WE HAVE DECIDED TO BASE OUR NARRATIVE ON A
RELATED TOPIC, WITH LESS FOCUS ON INITIALLY CREATING A STORY LINKING TO
THE LYRICS OF THE SONG.
• THE TOPIC WE HAVE CHOSEN TO PORTRAY IN THIS VIDEO IS ABUSE.
• WE HAVE CHOSEN ABUSE AS WE FEEL THAT THE TEMPO AND PITCH OF THE MUSIC
WOULD SUIT A THEME WHICH WILL CAUSE A MOVING EMOTIONAL RESPONSE FROM
THE AUDIENCE.
• FAMILY ABUSE IS THE MAIN THEME AND TOPIC FOR OUR VIDEO WHICH WILL BE
PORTRAYED IN DIFFERENT WAYS WITHOUT ACTUALLY SEEING THE ABUSE HAPPEN,
WE WILL DO THIS USING SUGGESTED IMAGERY.
IMAGERY.
• WITHIN THE SONG THE MAIN IMAGE SEEN IS EMOTIONAL DAMAGE. THE LYRICS INCLUDE
'BUT IT FEELS LIKE THERE'S OCEANS BETWEEN YOU AND ME' THIS IMPLIES TO THE
LISTENER THERE IS SOMETHING COMING BETWEEN THEIR LOVE. WE WILL USE THIS THEME
TO SHOW THE DESTRUCTION ABUSE HAS ON A FAMILY AND THEIR RELATIONSHIPS.
• WE WILL LINK OUR MUSIC VIDEO TO OTHER LYRICS SUCH AS 'WE HIDE OUR EMOTIONS
UNDER THE SURFACE AND TRYIN' TO PRETEND' WE WILL USE THIS TO OUR ADVANTAGE
AND SHOW THE CONSEQUENCES OF ABUSE WHEN THE YOUNGER MEMBERS OF THE
FAMILY ARE IN OPEN SURROUNDINGS BEING QUESTIONED ABOUT THEIR FAMILY
PROBLEMS AND VISIBLE LACERATIONS.
NARRATIVE IDEAS.
• SLOW MOTION AND PANNING SHOTS WILL BE LARGELY INCLUDED THROUGHOUT
THE MUSIC VIDEO. OPENING THE VIDEO WITH A DULL SETTING AT THE FAMILY HOME
SHOWING THE EMPTY SURROUNDINGS EMPHASIZING THE EIREE SETTING WHERE THE
FAMILY PROBLEMS OCCUR, THIS IS ALSO WHERE THE MAIN THEME OF ABUSE IS SEEN
FROM OLDER FAMILY MEMBERS.
• CONTRASTING IMAGES WILL BE SHOWN OUTSIDE OF THE FAMILY HOME; A BRIGHTER
WORLD. WITHIN THE MIDDLE SECTION OF THE VIDEO THE AUDIENCE WILL SEE THE
ALTERNATE RELATIONSHIPS THAT ARE MUCH MORE NATURAL.
• FROM THIS, THE PAST OF THE FAMILY WILL BE SHOWN THROUGH A MONTAGE OF
FAST PACED CLIPS, THE TIME IN THE PAST WILL BE BE
