2. Have you heard about the canoe theory in
management?! Here is the story…
3. A company X and a Japanese firm
decided to organize a canoe competition every year to
compare their performance. Each team would be
composed of eight people.
4. Both teams were seriously trained for this special
competition. But the japanese team won!
6. the team of company X was really disappointed after being
defeated. The management board decided to elaborate a new
strategy to stimulate the team in order to win the
competition the next year.
7.
8. After a deep investigation, the company X found out that
the japanese team had 7 rowers and one captain!
11. The Company X president had a bright idea and proposed to hire
immediately a society of professional consultants in order to
analyse the structure of the X team.
12.
13. After 2 months of hard labour, the experts
concluded that the company X team had many
captains and very few rowers and that they
have to change the structure. With regular
performance and good training, Company X
team must win the competition!
14. Here is the plan: the team would be composed of 4
captains, two supervisors, one leader and one rower. New
measures would be adopted in order to prompt the “lonely”
rower and give him more responsibilities.
