"Ticking" is one of Elton John's most powerful and under–rated songs. Bernie Taupin, Elton's song

strong statement. It is a story about a fictional young man who is seemingly normal, but in the end,
he snaps and unleashes his carnage. For a song released in 1974, years before mass shootings like
Columbine, Aroura, and Orlando, it is eerie that it can relate to so many mass shooting that have

eighth grade year relates to this song because I endured many ups and downs, and "Bohemian

He believed that these employees were easily replaceable for less pay. These kinds of procedures
and ideas created an environment that was ripe for alienation. In an attempt to satisfy workers, "In
return for a workers lost dignity, freedom, power and skill, Taylor promised higher pay" (Hoopes
48). Taylor also created the "differential piece rate" (Hoopes 38) which would further alienate
workers from each other, claiming it improved production. Overall, Taylor's theory of scientific
management created a good environment for business owners but it only fueled alienation between

Understandable sure, but Lloyd has five other ninja–skilled friends, which is not really a common
trait for kids who are mocked and bullied everyday at school. But I digress. Buoyed by nine
