Sir Elton John Research Paper
Sir Elton Hercules John or just Elton John was born on march 25th 1943. He is an English singer,
pianist, and composer. Also making cameos in movies. Also he one of pop music's great survivors.
He started playing the age of four. At the shocking age of eleven he got a scholarship to the Royal
Academy of Music. His first band was Bluesology. He grew up in the Pinner area of London, John
learned to play piano at an early in life and by 1962 had formed Bluesology. He has worked with
many performers like ED Sheeran. On the advice of music publisher Steve Brown, John and Taupin
started writing more complex songs for Elton John to record for DJM. The first was the single "I've
Been Loving You" in 1968. Taupin and John wrote the songs for "Mad Man

A Series of Unfortunate Events On a chilly Wednesday on January 14 of the year 1998, I, an eight
pounds, six ounces baby, was born. My mom and dad were in bed at ten the night before, and it was
decided that the time was now, for her water broke and they were on their way to the hospital. I was
dark haired and brown eyed, and my mom wanted to name me after her, but dad decided on the
name Jolene, with a pronunciation twist and his own spelling. At the time they were living in, what
my dad says was, a pretty crappy apartment in Sioux Falls that when every time you turned around,
cockroaches were scurrying for cover. Shortly after my birth, we moved into a trailer house that I
remember clearly being right across the street from Falls Park. ... Show more content on

Hopefully we can get it back down to the percent in January 1998; it is 5.5% right now (United
States Department of Labor). Thankfully minimum wage did go up, even though a youth's minimum
wage is a dollar lower, today it is $8.50 for adults("Minimum Wage"), compared to $5.15 (DMarie
Time Capsule). Along with other things, the value of a dollar has also gone up. If I had bought
something worth $10 back then today it would be $14.49. Sadly on the list of prices that have gone
up, we also have our national debt. In 1998 it was around five trillion dollars, and now it's about a
whopping 18 trillion ("US Debt

Elton John On the 25th of March, 1947, Reginald Dwight was born. While no one knew at the time ,
this date would be remembered as the birth of a rockstar, the birth of Elton John. Although he came
from a small town, his great commitment and musical talent allowed him to rise from a simple job
playing at a bar, to the top of the music charts. A man who has published over 25 albums and has
been a name in music for more than 40 years was once just a boy with a dream. An ambitious and
passionate man rose from a small town in England to become one of the greatest names in rock and
roll history. His name was Elton John. In 1947, Elton John was born in Pinner, England under the
name of Reginald Dwight. Ever since Elton was born, he was very ambitious ... Show more content

In 1970, Elton was given a chance to play at the Troubadour. This was Elton's chance to make it big.
The audience was known for being very tough to please. During Elton's first two songs, the crowd
loudly talked away, but Elton played through it. Halfway through his third song, Elton became so
frustrated that he stood up and shouted at the crowd. "Right! If you won't listen, perhaps you'll
bloody listen to this." He rose from the piano bench and began playing his song "Burn Down the
Mission." Shocked, the crowd was unsure what to do, they suddenly stood up and began cheering
and shouting along with the song. Elton's passion for music had just awoken one of the most
difficult crowds in America. As Elton continued with his music , he became more passionate about
it. But in the early 90's, Elton discovered a passion for another cause. In the mid 1980's Elton had
become aware of the AIDS virus. This was because of a boy who was an AIDS patient. Elton
became very close to this boy, and had been splitting the cost of his medical bills with Michael
Jackson. When he died, Elton was consumed by grief, but he wanted to help others who were
suffering from the AIDS virus. Since then, Elton has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and money
for AIDS. He also founded the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which raises awareness and funds for
the disease. Elton had found a new passion, a passion to help people. Elton pursued many of

Studying the various aspects of this class, has awakened my senses to the beautiful sounds of each
instrument; therefore, it was difficult to choose one. Nevertheless, I chose the piano for the simple
reason that it is an instrument that my son and I both enjoy playing.
History and Manufactures
To begin with, the first piano was created in the early 1700's, by a man named Bartolomeo di
Francesco Cristofori. However, the sounds of the strings being plucked, bowed or struck, originated
as early as the prehistoric times. The Piano was initially named gravicembalo col piano e forte, and
eventually called the fortepiano or pianoforte. Today, one can visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art
in New York City to see one of Cristofori's enduring pianos from the early 1720's.
Over the course of four centuries, the piano has evolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have been a fan of Elton John since the 1970's and have had the privilege to see him in concert; in
addition, I love his passion for music and humanity. To begin with, Elton was born in Middlesex,
England in 1947. He began playing the piano at the age of three and at eleven years old, he was
awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. In 1950, he began writing music, singing
and playing the piano. Therefore, in 1963 he formed the band Bluesology and began touring all
North America and Europe. Elton teamed up with Writer Bernie Taupin, together they became a
productive team. Bernie would write the lyrics and Elton would compose the music. Elton had
performed over 3,500 concerts throughout the world, and has composed music for both Broadway
musicals and film music. He has also won countless awards for his compositions, as well as,
receiving knighthood in 1998 by Queen Elizabeth ll. The most memorable performance I have of
Elton, is when he honored Princess Diana, with his biggest selling single of all time, "Candle in the

The Genius In Elton John's Noisey
Elton John is no stranger to off–beat collaborations. Working previously with artists like Eminem
and Queens of the Stone Age, he has seen his fair share of unexpected pairing. This time around he
plans to bring a classic song into the top 40 radio sphere once again.
According to reports from The FADER, Lyor Cohen, the co–founder of Young Thug's label, 300
Entertainment, set up a FaceTime chat between Thug and John. After the virtual conversation, John
sent over the instrumental track of his 1972 hit "Rocket Man". "It's all the instrumental, the guitar,

Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the rock band Queen, was a man who desired to live life to its
fullest, as he once proclaimed, "The most important thing, darling, is to live a fabulous life. As long
as it's fabulous, I don't care how long it is" (Freddie). However, while Mercury reveled in
showmanship, often surrounded by rumors of extravagance, he was also a fiercely private person.
The singer and songwriter, whose real name was Farrokh Bulsara, struggled with a secret that
tortured his soul. Having grown up in a devout Zoroastrian home, Mercury knew what admitting he
was a homosexual would mean for him. He felt he would lose the love and admiration of his family,
friends, and fans. Freddie Mercury used the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" to reveal ... Show more

He explained that he was no longer able to hold back these unwelcome desires declaring, "Too late,
my time has come/ Sends shivers down my spine/ Body's aching all the time" (Queen). Mercury
used these lyrics to demonstrate that the aching sexual desire his body felt for men was beyond his
control. He then said his goodbyes to the loved ones he left behind because he knew he had to move
on regardless of the consequences: "Goodbye everybody – I've got to go/ Gotta leave you all behind
and face the truth" (Queen). Within the last two verses of the song, the listener hears a distinct
change in the attitude of Freddie Mercury. Queen no longer uses soft, low tones to convey sadness
and regret. Mercury now sounds powerful and angry and the corresponding lyrics match this new
attitude. In a powerful and almost explosive tone, Mercury declares, "So you think you can stone me
and spit in my eye" (Queen). Within this passage, Mercury speaks directly to those who would judge
and condemn him for his homosexuality. Stoning was a common form of punishment in ancient
times and sometimes used to "punish those who would participate in sexual relations with members
of the same gender" (Denton, 46). Mercury directed his anger at the friends and family that claimed
to love him stating, "So

enjoyed listening to this song over and over again. The beat of the song was very flowing and had
such a great motion in the music. It gave off great energy, and the quality of sound was my favorite.
Luke Bryan's voice in Strip it down flows very smooth and has the right tone/sound for the music
that goes along with the song. The meaning of the song is very interesting and the lyrics are very

Elton Mayo Case Study
It is important that managers, administrators and students of management study organisations,
because they have a very powerful influence on our daily lives (Lewis B Dzimbiri, 2015),further
according to Etzion (1964) in (Lewis B Dzimbiri, 2015) mentioned that "we are born in
organisations, we play in organisations, we grow in organisations and we shall die in organisations".
Therefore human beings should have a hunger to study organization, to know how they are
structured, operate and what impact do they have on our lives. This essay will discuss positive and
negative impacts of the organization on human life. Furthermore, it will assess the relevance of
management theories such as classical, behavior and open systems in understanding of formal ...

Elton Mayo and other contributors to behavior studies identified an element that the classical
approach missed; people, who fill the organization structures and their behavior. The approach is
more concerned with the psychological and social aspects of a worker as individuals and groups,
level of supervision and responsibility. Individuals belong to groups and workers are strongly
motivated by social needs. This concept was started by Elton Mayo with his Hawthorne studies
where he and his team were trying to find optimum level of lighting in the plant in order to
maximize productivity, what was realized is that productivity increased more because of the
experiments. People became more excited with the experiments because they made them feel
important and valued. Main contributors to this approach are Elton mayo; human relations school,
Chris Argyris the immature and mature theory, Douglas McGregor; theory X and Y. Motivation
theories also fall under the category of human behavior science, theories proposed by Abraham
Maslow; hierarchy of needs, Fredrick Herzberg; the two factor theory. Main elements are Emphasis
on differences among individuals and as a result people require different ways of managing and
motivating people and emphasis on the importance of informal organizations that exist within the
formal organization

Power Of Music Essay
Music has been around for a very long time. Music has a way of influencing each and every one of
us to do things we don't even realize we are doing. There is a big difference between the power of
music and the influence it has on today's society. The world today is not anywhere near perfect, but
music is there to take away the pain. On the other hand, the power of music is endless. It has the
power to make a grown man break down crying or a heartbroken widow smile. It has a way of
letting someone who is hurting inside let out their feelings for the world to hear and be there for
them. There is no end to the power of music, but music cannot fix everything. Bob Marley once
said, "One good thing about music. When it hits you. You feel no pain." The world today is filled
with so much hate and sorrow, and music has a way of reaching those who are down in life. Music
has endless ways to inspire and cheer up anyone. The lyrics of a song are a poem that tells a story
whether it be a love song or a rap song. If everyone would take the time of day to listen to the lyrics
they would understand and feel the music on a whole other level. Although if someone is feeling
blue, a rap song probably isn't the one for them. The melody or the instrumental part of the song is
mind–blowing. Take out the words and there is just pure music. It can put someone in a trance of
just pure imagination. As Elton John once said, "Music has healing power. It has the ability to take
people out of

Elton John Stereotypes
A big fruity pie that just simply doesn't bake. Is this how we describe one of the greatest albums of
all time, from one of the greatest musicians of all time? Has this only been said because he's gay, or
because he doesn't conform to his gender stereotype? Nevertheless before we come to our own
conclusions we must first get to know the man.
Born 25–3–1947 Reginald Kenneth Dwight, or more commonly known as Sir Elton John, became
somewhat of a child prodigy after he began playing the piano at the young age of four, he could play
any melody he heard by ear. After winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy Of Music at age 11,
Elton studied for six years but dropped out just shy of graduation to try his luck with a rock career.
At age 14 Elton formed his first band known as the Corvettes, which later reformed into Bluesology.
Taking the stage at the Northwood Hills Hotel Friday's to Sunday's playing Jim Reeves and Ray
Charles covers Elton earned enough to purchase his first electric piano. Late in the 60's at an
audition for Liberty Records Elton John meet with unarguably the most significant person to play

Strangely it has been said that they have never composed together in the same room, Bernie would
simply write the lyrics and hand them onto Elton who would then leave in private and write the
music, Elton said himself that if the song didn't work within the first two minutes he would simply

Elton John Bennie And The Jets
Unlike most other songs of its era, "Bennie and The Jets" is a rare track that is driven by the
instrumental as opposed to the lyrics. When focusing on the instrumental more closely, it becomes
apparent that Elton John didn't just section his lyrics like traditional music, but instead sectioned the
orchestrative components into subcategories. Among all these groupings, the most significant
grouping is found in the opening measures. When analyzing the introduction to "Bennie and The
Jets", the first few seconds of the instrumental unfolds into what is the most important melody
throughout all of "Bennie and The Jets". The opening melody is not just a cog in an oiled machine,
but it is the entire belt that pulls every section in "Bennie and ... Show more content on

Although the lyrics to "Bennie and The Jets" provide the listener with a compelling and otherwise
catchy beat, "Bennie and The Jets" has an underlying deep meaning that boils down into one line.
This line is found at the end of the chorus when Elton John states, "She's got electric boots, a mohair
suit, you know I read it in a magazine, Bennie and The Jets." To understand this line, it has to be
interpreted in reverse. The first part of this line when reading in reverse states, "Bennie and The
Jets." Here, Elton John isn't just talking about a girl named Bennie, but more specifically, a
performer named Bennie who is apart of the band "Bennie and The Jets." The next part of this line
states, "She's got electric boots, a mohair suit, you know I read it in a magazine..."Here, Elton is
explaining how people adopt trends from notable and influential people; like Bennie from the
hypothetical band "Bennie and The Jets." Focusing in on the section of the lyrics that says, "... you
know I read it in a magazine..." describes how current generations don't actually listen to music.
Overall Elton John is saying that future generations aren't capable of understanding art, but Instead
or overwhelmed and too focused on the materialistic aspects of such accredited

Anyone who has ever experienced emotional anguish, that has had the potential to ruin their life,
may find peace by the end of "Bohemian Rhapsody." This song was written by an artist who felt a
great deal of pain. He expresses his emotions throughout the song, and at the end realizes that all the
pain he was dealt shouldn't matter to him. "Bohemian Rhapsody" was written by Freddie Mercury
and performed by a British rock band named "Queen" in 1975. It is a six minute suite divided into
multiple sections without a refrain. There is an intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard

He continues by apologizing to her saying, "Didn't mean to make you cry./ If I 'm not back again this

he killed off the heterosexual man he once was and apologizes to his mother about his sexuality. If
he is still homosexual in later times, he tells his mother to continue on with life as if he was never
gay. The depressing tone and choice of lyrics helped me connect with these stanzas in a more literal
sense. Whenever I listen to or read the lyrics, the imagery I see is me killing a man for the first time
in combat. I see a twenty year–old version of me becoming an alcoholic to drown out the pain and
misery. And lastly, I see my mother crying because she feels as if she failed me; when in reality it
was me who was failing. I tried to explain to my mother that PTSD doesn't affect me and that she
should just continue viewing me as I was before the Marine Corps. The operatic passage of this song
made me feel excitement and anxiety due to the singers singing in a frantic tone. I didn 't feel those
feelings in the lyrics without the accompany of the music. By focusing specifically on the lyrics and
analyzing them word by word, I was able to feel the excitement and anxiety of my first firefight.

Metaphor Criticism Of Princess Diana By Elton John
Countries have been known for what they might particularly stand for. Some might also be known
for those that stand for the nation itself. For the country of England, Lady Diana Frances Spencer
was vastly known for her constant engagement in the kingdom's social issues. She was a child
activist and was quite popular in media due to societies' fascination with English royalty. Princess
Diana used this to her advantage and, "she devoted herself to her sons [Prince William and Prince
Harry] and to such charitable efforts as the battle against the use of land mines" (Diana, 2014). Her
life in mainstream media helped to have her be heard beyond the boarders of England and she

I will discuss through Metaphor criticism that the rhetor, Elton John, conceptualizes Princess Diana
to the audience through his lyrics in what she symbolically stood as, who she was as a person and
how she impacted numerous lives. In particular, I explore the question of how the close relationship
between the media and the princess created a realistic friendship between those of the common
media audience and the royal Diana. John successfully strengthens the diverse audience's express of
grief personally for the princess even though they might not have known her directly, such as Elton
John. Now that I have provided background regarding the reasoning and origin of the song, I turn
my attention towards the explanation regarding a description and the procedures of Metaphor
criticism.
Metaphoric criticism is a comparison of two items that suggest a resemblance. Through this use of
language it can help to enliven ordinary language. Through this is can also help an audience
visualize certain ideas. (Blair, 2014). Yet, through a rhetorical perspective, metaphors are now seen
as a large means for the creation of reality. "Metaphor is a basic way by which the process of using
symbols to construct reality occurs" (Foss, 2009, p. 268). There are two major parts of a metaphor,
the tenor and the vehicle. The tenor is known as the topic or the subject, and the vehicle is the
mechanism or rather the lens viewing for the target.

Elton John's Influence In Development
In my opinion, Elton John has had a massive influence in development. Not only is the
singer/songwriter searching for a cure for HIV/AIDS with world–renowned scientists, but he is also
working tirelessly to eliminate the stigma associated with the illness being known as a "gay

Elton John is also striving to improve the quality of life for patients suffering from HIV/AIDS,
focusing heavily on the LGBTQ community (Frequently Asked Questions, Newyork.ejaf.org). In

In The Scarlet Letter a young woman named Hester is criticized and mocked for having a young girl
from an adulterous act with a sneaky pastor. The young girl will be named Pearl (named Pearl for
having cost a great price). Throughout the novel as the characters develop and change the plot of the
story develops into a riveting climax and an end no one could have imagined. Within the novel there
are five major scenes that build up to the dramatic ending of The Scarlet Letter. The scenes in order
are the first time Heaster showed her face and stood on the scafell after she was released from

While standing on the scaffold she sees her husband sho has been gone for years, no one recognizes

most important of the book because of the introduction of characters and the setting of the story. It
also shows the way Heaster feels towards the whole idea and gives small hints for what is to come
in the future of the book. In the second major scene of the book Heaster and now 7 year old Pearl go
to visit a couple of the top men in the village such as the governor, Wilson, Dimmesdale, and
Chillingworth. " The first half of the story has covered a space of seven years; the second half of
will cover no more than fifteen days" claims Malcolm Cowley (15). Heaster brought Pearl to them
so they could ask her a couple of questions about where she is from. They wanted to make sure she
was getting a proper education. Now Pearl was extremely smart and witty so she knew all of the
answers to their questions but decided to answer them incorrectly. Wilson was convinced and
wanted to take the child from Hester, dimmesdale protects her and says about how no one else but
Heaster could take care of such a smart and interesting child, Pearl then holds his hand and
Dimmsdale kissed her forehead. Heaster also states how Pearl is her everything and would rather die
before giving her up. This scene is important because it shows the love Heaster has for Pearl and

Elton John's Song 'Ticking'
"Ticking" is one of Elton John's most powerful and under–rated songs. Bernie Taupin, Elton's song
writer, wrote the words why Elton wrote the music, and together they created a song that presents a
strong statement. It is a story about a fictional young man who is seemingly normal, but in the end,
he snaps and unleashes his carnage. For a song released in 1974, years before mass shootings like
Columbine, Aroura, and Orlando, it is eerie that it can relate to so many mass shooting that have
happened in the past few years. Elton and Bernie are giving a warning in this song that, as a society,

Looking at the title, "Ticking" may not immediately mean anything, but once you dig into the lyrics
of the song it becomes clear. It refers to a young man who is seemingly normal and very quiet,
however in the end he snaps. "Ticking" is being used as a metaphor to represent the young man who
appears normal but is slowly getting closer to the breaking point.
The first stanza begins in a calm tone like the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tone here is a combination between the authoritative tone of his mother and the more care free
nature of the onomatopoeia. "'Now you'll never get to Heaven' Mama said," is the voice of his
mother in his head that he remembers and in it is followed by "Ticking, ticking" in the next line
shows that his mother's comments are driving him closer to the breaking point (Lines 9–11). His
mother's voice in his head then says, "Grow up straight and true blue/run along to bed," this
introduces the possibility that the young man may be homosexual and that his mother, and possibly
his father, showed her disapproval (12–13). The idiom "true blue" means to be loyal to someone's
ideas or cause which could reference to religious ideology (Lines 12–13). Perhaps this is the reason

Bohemian Rhapsody Mood
Bohemian Rhapsody Queen's iconic song, "Bohemian Rhapsody", is no doubt one of the most
legendary hits of the 70s, and has transcended time and is still prevalent in today's society. My
eighth grade year relates to this song because I endured many ups and downs, and "Bohemian
Rhapsody"'s change of mood, defiant lyrics and overall confusion about the song shows the theme
of my past year.
My eighth grade year has been turbulent, with balancing school, friends, drama and sports. At times,
I felt insignificant and under appreciated, because I had worked so hard at something only to fall
short. But at other times, I was on cloud nine; my grades were high, my friends were happy and my
family was proud of me. I went through a lot of changes this year, and it was almost like a roller
coaster. Like the song says, "Little high, little low/Anywhere the wind blows," (Mercury, lines 5–6).
One minute I would be at the epitome of success (in my eighth grade mind), and the next, I would
be yanked down by gravity at breakneck speed. But the worst times were when there weren't any
peaks or valleys; life was flat for a while, and it was scarier than that plunge. In "Bohemian
Rhapsody", the mood changes many times. The songs starts soft and sad, questioning reality and
emphasizing scariness of being "Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality," (Mercury, line 2).
Sometimes, I felt that way. It was almost as if my life had just been painted by a stranger and I had

Billy Joel, and Elton John; two incredible singers that have different and diverse backgrounds,
however the question must be asked, who is better? Whose life has gone smoother? Who produced
the better music? Who made more? Many of these questions can be simply answered by reading
biographies and watching documentaries. These don't however, answer exactly what their ideas or
beliefs are. Much of what they believe, or feel, is put into their songs, or even simply thrown out
during an interview. Before we delve into the opinionated topic of, "who is better?", we must first
learn about who each of these talented singers are. We must also learn what shaped them into the
people they are today. Billy Joel was born in the Bronx, New York, ... Show more content on

Elton John has sold double the number of albums then Billy Joel and has had a more successful
music career. Elton John overcame more hardships. Between his father's anger at his career choice,
and the backlash he experienced due to his sexuality, he has dealt with more hardships than Billy. He
also had released more albums of higher quality and more well–known singles. He also joined with
the rapper from Detroit, Eminem in his song Stan. Finally, "Elton John recorded a tribute to Princess
Diana, and his Westminster Abbey performance of the song (Candle in the Wind) during Diana's
funeral service in September of 1997." (Simon Firth) and played alongside Queen and Axl Rose in a
tribute to Freddie Mercury after his passing on November 24th, 1991. The generous amount of
money he donated to charity also defines how nice of a person he is. Once he received a school
schedule for his kids, Elton and his husband David Furnish decided together that Elton couldn't be a
father figure if he was constantly on tour. Elton decided, due to that fact and his age of 71, that he
would end touring, but would still produce music. The amount he cares for his family shows how
good of a guy he really is, he has released very popular and well–known music, and is a classic rock

Lion: Saroo's Assimilation Into Australian Culture
Lion was an inspiring movie that had a main focus on Saroo's assimilation into Australian culture.
His immigration into Australia is of course what started his assimilation. Consequently, Saroo lost
the ability to speak Hindi, as seen at the end of the movie when he reunites with his mother, because
he grew up in an English–speaking culture. As well Saroo forgot aspects of his culture, such as
eating with his hands, that were uncommon or looked down upon in Australian culture. The scene in
which Saroo is having a meal with his friends, he tries to eat with his hands, but then fails and
resolves to eat with a fork and knife. Saroo's whole self identity changed as he grew up in Australia,

The Princess And The Pea Criticism
People think of lions and tigers as royalty, so it is not surprising that they are used in this version of
The Princess and the Pea. Originally written by Hans Christian Andersen, this fairy tale has a prince
who wishes to marry a princess, but the queen insists it must be a proper princess. The illustration in
this adaptation, drawn by Janet Stevens, shows the beginning of the conflict, with the queen
insisting on a true princess for the prince's wife. The illustration conveys clear distinctions of the
feelings of the king from the queen and the prince. There are negative feelings on the left side of the
picture, which are captured by the king, who is looking away from the rest of his family. His legs are

The queen and prince are literally on a red carpet, which represents celebrity status. The queen is
wearing lots of rings and other jewels, displaying her status. The son looks like the father, as they
are both lions, yet is more in tune with the tiger mother. He is drawn behind the queen, which
exhibits a lesser status, yet a closer relationship with his mother than what he has with his father.
There is much more yellow on the right side, about thirty percent of the picture, and the son is
wearing the most. The background is farther away, focusing on the two. The son is observing his
mother, revealing that he looks to her for guidance, not the king. The phrase "tiger mom" comes to
mind, since she is making the decisions for the son and he knows this. One's eye goes straight to the
queen, who is in the middle, which confirms that she is the main focus of this illustration. There are
fewer rigid lines on the right, which shows less oppression. If the three royal figures are part of a
triangle, they are the closer ends, with the king much farther away. Their body language is much
more open than the king's, as well. The cap that the son is wearing is eye–grabbing, as it is orange.
The orange of the cap signifies his youth, as well as suggesting he is flamboyant. Just as English is
read left to right, so are pictures. The picture in this adaptation of The Princess and the Pea
illustrates this. There are negative feelings on the left, which is shown by the lion king. The tiger
queen and lion son have more hope. Considering how the mother wants all the control, it makes
sense to have the emotions to go this way. All in all, the beginning of the conflict of this story is
perfectly captured by this

John's audience might recognize the Royal Family and the paparazzi as the wind that blew against
Diana's candle and ultimately snuffed it out. John continues to use picture words in the chorus to
symbolize the struggles Diana faced. In line 12, "when the rain set in" allows the audience to picture
her hard times. Still, Diana was a resilient woman, and her grieving audience would realize that she
persevered over many obstacles in her life. She married at the age of 19, and anyone's marriage is
difficult by itself. Add to the fact that she was thrust onto the world stage when she married into the
Royal Family made it that much harder. John's lyrics suggest that Diana remained positive and
rarely let the dark times get her public persona down. Next, John uses the image "your candle's
burned out long before" (line 15, 31, 47),and the audience is able to picture a candle snuffed out
before it had completely burned. This shows that Diana died early. However, John does not want to
leave his audience with the idea that Diana lived a short life and then died in vain. John's powerful
repetition of "your legend never will" (line 16, 32, 48) shows that Diana did not die in vain. John's

Polyphony is a musical term used to describe when two different pieces play at the same time,
neither one more pronounced or emphasised than the other, yet the two play nicely together. In this
problem, we have used musical polyphony as an analogy to describe multiple voices and events

Elton Mayo And Alienation
Frederick Taylor, Elton Mayo, and Alienation
The nineteenth century was a time ripe with progress and hope due to booming industrialization. As
organizations and workforces grew, people looked for ways to increase their productivity and profit
margins. New ideas were needed to satisfy both business owners and their employees and as such,
along came theorists such as Marx or other contributors like Frederick Taylor and Elton Mayo.
Taylor produced a management style coined Scientific Management whereas Mayo took a slightly
different route and conducted the Hawthorne studies. Over the years theorists such as Marx, with his

He believed that these employees were easily replaceable for less pay. These kinds of procedures
and ideas created an environment that was ripe for alienation. In an attempt to satisfy workers, "In
return for a workers lost dignity, freedom, power and skill, Taylor promised higher pay" (Hoopes
48). Taylor also created the "differential piece rate" (Hoopes 38) which would further alienate
workers from each other, claiming it improved production. Overall, Taylor's theory of scientific
management created a good environment for business owners but it only fueled alienation between
the workers and the workers and society. Elton Mayo is best known for the Hawthorne effect. Mayo
was well educated, studying at several different universities including engineering at the University
of Glasgow. Mayo faced a lot of rejection during his career but his work greatly influenced our
working environments today. He believed that industries were destroying communal harmony and
that production would increase if the workers were better taken care of. He is quoted as saying that
workers must rise above "indignation and frustration which the...new industrial society forced on
workers" (Hoopes 130). These new managerial styles in addition to a capitalist leaning society
created an unfriendly environment for the majority of workers. Despite his attempts, his theories and

recreate the magic of the prior movies. The returns are middling at best, though one villain who
arrives midway through the film is hilarious, and rather cleverly crashes the real world into the

Discuss The Theories Of Elton Mayo
TASK 4 (P2.4, M1, D3) (P2.4) Motivation refers to the willingness of individuals to perform certain
tasks or actions and because when workers are motivated they strive more to improve and develop
their skills to do a better job for their next task that are given to them. Here are the motivational
techniques that can resolve to motivate employees to perform better: Elton Mayo Elton Mayo's
theory believed that workers are not just concerned with money but better motivated. This theory
shows that the employees are motivated by better communication with their employers, greater
manager involvement and working in groups or teams. Good communication between managers and
employees must be practiced in RTA. This method is a major factor to motivate the employees to
work willingly. Interaction between workers may also form a good team when working for there is
cooperation in contributing ideas and decision making which makes the employees feel more
involved and appreciated in the business. Therefore, if RTA uses this kind of motivational technique,
the managers must face their workers one–to–one to monitor them and must be more involved in the
employee's environment which is also under their responsibilities. It is also proven that Mayo's
theory is effective because the more involvement the managers are in the business the more the
employees will be recognized and be more motivated to work hard to be appreciated and rewarded.

My mom and dad were in bed at ten the night before, and it was decided that the time was now, for her water broke and they were on their way to the hospital. I was dark haired and brown eyed, and my mom wanted to name me after her, but dad decided on the name Jolene, with a pronunciation twist and his own spelling. At the time they were living in, what my dad says was, a pretty crappy apartment in Sioux Falls that when every time you turned around, cockroaches were scurrying for cover. Thankfully minimum wage did go up, even though a youth's minimum wage is a dollar lower, today it is $8.50 for adults("Minimum Wage"), compared to $5.15 (DMarie Time Capsule). Along with other things, the value of a dollar has also gone up. If I had bought something worth $10 back then today it would be $14.49. Sadly on the list of prices that have gone up, we also have our national debt. In 1998 it was around five trillion dollars, and now it's about a whopping 18 trillion ("US Debt ... In 1970, Elton was given a chance to play at the Troubadour. This was Elton's chance to make it big. The audience was known for being very tough to please. During Elton's first two songs, the crowd loudly talked away, but Elton played through it. Halfway through his third song, Elton became so frustrated that he stood up and shouted at the crowd. "Right! If you won't listen, perhaps you'll bloody listen to this." He rose from the piano bench and began playing his song "Burn Down the Mission." Shocked, the crowd was unsure what to do, they suddenly stood up and began cheering and shouting along with the song. Elton's passion for music had just awoken one of the most difficult crowds in America. As Elton continued with his music , he became more passionate about it. But in the early 90's, Elton discovered a passion for another cause. In the mid 1980's Elton had become aware of the AIDS virus. This was because of a boy who was an AIDS patient. Elton became very close to this boy, and had been splitting the cost of his medical bills with Michael Jackson. When he died, Elton was consumed by grief, but he wanted to help others who were suffering from the AIDS virus. Since then, Elton has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and money for AIDS. Nevertheless, I chose the piano for the simple reason that it is an instrument that my son and I both enjoy playing. History and Manufactures To begin with, the first piano was created in the early 1700's, by a man named Bartolomeo di Francesco Cristofori. However, the sounds of the strings being plucked, bowed or struck, originated as early as the prehistoric times. The Piano was initially named gravicembalo col piano e forte, and eventually called the fortepiano or pianoforte. Bohemian Rhapsody Research Papers Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the rock band Queen, was a man who desired to live life to its fullest, as he once proclaimed, "The most important thing, darling, is to live a fabulous life. As long as it's fabulous, I don't care how long it is" (Freddie). However, while Mercury reveled in showmanship, often surrounded by rumors of extravagance, he was also a fiercely private person. The singer and songwriter, whose real name was Farrokh Bulsara, struggled with a secret that tortured his soul. Having grown up in a devout Zoroastrian home, Mercury knew what admitting he was a homosexual would mean for him. He felt he would lose the love and admiration of his family, friends, and fans. He explained that he was no longer able to hold back these unwelcome desires declaring, "Too late, my time has come/ Sends shivers down my spine/ Body's aching all the time" (Queen). Mercury used these lyrics to demonstrate that the aching sexual desire his body felt for men was beyond his control. He then said his goodbyes to the loved ones he left behind because he knew he had to move on regardless of the consequences: "Goodbye everybody – I've got to go/ Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth" (Queen). Within the last two verses of the song, the listener hears a distinct change in the attitude of Freddie Mercury. Queen no longer uses soft, low tones to convey sadness and regret. Mercury now sounds powerful and angry and the corresponding lyrics match this new attitude. In a powerful and almost explosive tone, Mercury declares, "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye" (Queen). Within this passage, Mercury speaks directly to those who would judge and condemn him for his homosexuality. Stoning was a common form of punishment in ancient times and sometimes used to "punish those who would participate in sexual relations with members of the same gender" (Denton, 46). Mercury directed his anger at the friends and family that claimed to love him stating, "So ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rhapsody: Strip It Down, Luke Bryan Rhapsody: Strip It down, Luke Bryan Throughout the process of looking at so many songs on Rhapsody, it was really hard to decide which one to pick because there are so many genres, artists, and different albums to choose from. I decided to choose Strip it down by Luke Bryan. I really enjoyed listening to this song over and over again. The beat of the song was very flowing and had such a great motion in the music. It gave off great energy, and the quality of sound was my favorite. Luke Bryan's voice in Strip it down flows very smooth and has the right tone/sound for the music that goes along with the song. The meaning of the song is very interesting and the lyrics are very important in my opinion. Usually I always think that the music in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Elton Mayo Case Study It is important that managers, administrators and students of management study organisations, because they have a very powerful influence on our daily lives (Lewis B Dzimbiri, 2015),further according to Etzion (1964) in (Lewis B Dzimbiri, 2015) mentioned that "we are born in organisations, we play in organisations, we grow in organisations and we shall die in organisations". Therefore human beings should have a hunger to study organization, to know how they are structured, operate and what impact do they have on our lives. This essay will discuss positive and negative impacts of the organization on human life. Elton Mayo and other contributors to behavior studies identified an element that the classical approach missed; people, who fill the organization structures and their behavior. The approach is more concerned with the psychological and social aspects of a worker as individuals and groups, level of supervision and responsibility. Individuals belong to groups and workers are strongly motivated by social needs. This concept was started by Elton Mayo with his Hawthorne studies where he and his team were trying to find optimum level of lighting in the plant in order to maximize productivity, what was realized is that productivity increased more because of the experiments. People became more excited with the experiments because they made them feel important and valued. Main contributors to this approach are Elton mayo; human relations school, Chris Argyris the immature and mature theory, Douglas McGregor; theory X and Y. Motivation theories also fall under the category of human behavior science, theories proposed by Abraham Maslow; hierarchy of needs, Fredrick Herzberg; the two factor theory. • 19. Power Of Music Essay Music has been around for a very long time. Music has a way of influencing each and every one of us to do things we don't even realize we are doing. There is a big difference between the power of music and the influence it has on today's society. The world today is not anywhere near perfect, but music is there to take away the pain. On the other hand, the power of music is endless. It has the power to make a grown man break down crying or a heartbroken widow smile. It has a way of letting someone who is hurting inside let out their feelings for the world to hear and be there for them. There is no end to the power of music, but music cannot fix everything. Bob Marley once said, "One good thing about music. When it hits you. You feel no pain." The world today is filled with so much hate and sorrow, and music has a way of reaching those who are down in life. Music has endless ways to inspire and cheer up anyone. The lyrics of a song are a poem that tells a story whether it be a love song or a rap song. If everyone would take the time of day to listen to the lyrics they would understand and feel the music on a whole other level. Although if someone is feeling blue, a rap song probably isn't the one for them. The melody or the instrumental part of the song is mind–blowing. Take out the words and there is just pure music. It can put someone in a trance of just pure imagination. As Elton John once said, "Music has healing power. It has the ability to take people out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Elton John Stereotypes A big fruity pie that just simply doesn't bake. Is this how we describe one of the greatest albums of all time, from one of the greatest musicians of all time? Has this only been said because he's gay, or because he doesn't conform to his gender stereotype? Nevertheless before we come to our own conclusions we must first get to know the man. Born 25–3–1947 Reginald Kenneth Dwight, or more commonly known as Sir Elton John, became somewhat of a child prodigy after he began playing the piano at the young age of four, he could play any melody he heard by ear. After winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy Of Music at age 11, Elton studied for six years but dropped out just shy of graduation to try his luck with a rock career. At age 14 Elton formed his first band known as the Corvettes, which later reformed into Bluesology. Taking the stage at the Northwood Hills Hotel Friday's to Sunday's playing Jim Reeves and Ray Charles covers Elton earned enough to purchase his first electric piano. • 23. Elton John Bennie And The Jets Unlike most other songs of its era, "Bennie and The Jets" is a rare track that is driven by the instrumental as opposed to the lyrics. When focusing on the instrumental more closely, it becomes apparent that Elton John didn't just section his lyrics like traditional music, but instead sectioned the orchestrative components into subcategories. Among all these groupings, the most significant grouping is found in the opening measures. When analyzing the introduction to "Bennie and The Jets", the first few seconds of the instrumental unfolds into what is the most important melody throughout all of "Bennie and The Jets". Although the lyrics to "Bennie and The Jets" provide the listener with a compelling and otherwise catchy beat, "Bennie and The Jets" has an underlying deep meaning that boils down into one line. This line is found at the end of the chorus when Elton John states, "She's got electric boots, a mohair suit, you know I read it in a magazine, Bennie and The Jets." To understand this line, it has to be interpreted in reverse. The first part of this line when reading in reverse states, "Bennie and The Jets." Here, Elton John isn't just talking about a girl named Bennie, but more specifically, a performer named Bennie who is apart of the band "Bennie and The Jets." The next part of this line states, "She's got electric boots, a mohair suit, you know I read it in a magazine..."Here, Elton is explaining how people adopt trends from notable and influential people; like Bennie from the hypothetical band "Bennie and The Jets." Focusing in on the section of the lyrics that says, "... you know I read it in a magazine..." describes how current generations don't actually listen to music. "Bohemian Rhapsody" was written by Freddie Mercury and performed by a British rock band named "Queen" in 1975. It is a six minute suite divided into multiple sections without a refrain. If he is still homosexual in later times, he tells his mother to continue on with life as if he was never gay. The depressing tone and choice of lyrics helped me connect with these stanzas in a more literal sense. Whenever I listen to or read the lyrics, the imagery I see is me killing a man for the first time in combat. I see a twenty year–old version of me becoming an alcoholic to drown out the pain and misery. And lastly, I see my mother crying because she feels as if she failed me; when in reality it was me who was failing. I tried to explain to my mother that PTSD doesn't affect me and that she should just continue viewing me as I was before the Marine Corps. The operatic passage of this song made me feel excitement and anxiety due to the singers singing in a frantic tone. I didn 't feel those feelings in the lyrics without the accompany of the music. • 27. Metaphor Criticism Of Princess Diana By Elton John Countries have been known for what they might particularly stand for. Some might also be known for those that stand for the nation itself. For the country of England, Lady Diana Frances Spencer was vastly known for her constant engagement in the kingdom's social issues. She was a child activist and was quite popular in media due to societies' fascination with English royalty. Princess Diana used this to her advantage and, "she devoted herself to her sons [Prince William and Prince Harry] and to such charitable efforts as the battle against the use of land mines" (Diana, 2014). Her life in mainstream media helped to have her be heard beyond the boarders of England and she became an icon to the world for her gracious poise and outreach to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will discuss through Metaphor criticism that the rhetor, Elton John, conceptualizes Princess Diana to the audience through his lyrics in what she symbolically stood as, who she was as a person and how she impacted numerous lives. In particular, I explore the question of how the close relationship between the media and the princess created a realistic friendship between those of the common media audience and the royal Diana. John successfully strengthens the diverse audience's express of grief personally for the princess even though they might not have known her directly, such as Elton John. Now that I have provided background regarding the reasoning and origin of the song, I turn my attention towards the explanation regarding a description and the procedures of Metaphor criticism. Metaphoric criticism is a comparison of two items that suggest a resemblance. Through this use of language it can help to enliven ordinary language. Through this is can also help an audience visualize certain ideas. (Blair, 2014). Yet, through a rhetorical perspective, metaphors are now seen as a large means for the creation of reality. "Metaphor is a basic way by which the process of using symbols to construct reality occurs" (Foss, 2009, p. 268). There are two major parts of a metaphor, the tenor and the vehicle. The tenor is known as the topic or the subject, and the vehicle is the mechanism or rather the lens viewing for the target. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bernie Taupin, Elton's song writer, wrote the words why Elton wrote the music, and together they created a song that presents a strong statement. It is a story about a fictional young man who is seemingly normal, but in the end, he snaps and unleashes his carnage. For a song released in 1974, years before mass shootings like Columbine, Aroura, and Orlando, it is eerie that it can relate to so many mass shooting that have happened in the past few years. Elton and Bernie are giving a warning in this song that, as a society, we should focus on trying to reduce gun violence and focus more on mental health. Looking at the title, "Ticking" may not immediately mean anything, but once you dig into the lyrics of the song it becomes clear. It refers to a young man who is seemingly normal and very quiet, however in the end he snaps. Bohemian Rhapsody Mood Bohemian Rhapsody Queen's iconic song, "Bohemian Rhapsody", is no doubt one of the most legendary hits of the 70s, and has transcended time and is still prevalent in today's society. My eighth grade year relates to this song because I endured many ups and downs, and "Bohemian Rhapsody"'s change of mood, defiant lyrics and overall confusion about the song shows the theme of my past year. My eighth grade year has been turbulent, with balancing school, friends, drama and sports. At times, I felt insignificant and under appreciated, because I had worked so hard at something only to fall short. But at other times, I was on cloud nine; my grades were high, my friends were happy and my family was proud of me. I went through a lot of changes this year, and it was almost like a roller coaster. But the worst times were when there weren't any peaks or valleys; life was flat for a while, and it was scarier than that plunge. In "Bohemian Rhapsody", the mood changes many times. The songs starts soft and sad, questioning reality and emphasizing scariness of being "Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality," (Mercury, line 2). Sometimes, I felt that way. There is much more yellow on the right side, about thirty percent of the picture, and the son is wearing the most. The background is farther away, focusing on the two. The son is observing his mother, revealing that he looks to her for guidance, not the king. The phrase "tiger mom" comes to mind, since she is making the decisions for the son and he knows this. This is displayed through the Erechtheion– a statue created in the image of Athena and Poseidon, constructed between 421 B.C. and 406 B.C. This statue was built in exultation to these celebrated, supernatural rulers and to this day still stands as a landmark of history. Seeing as there were several other statues and temples such as the Propylaea or the Temple of Olympian Zeus, this shows that the multitude of gods meant a variety of things to diverse ... She was known to be an advocate for the helpless and the hopeless. Diana's influence was felt worldwide through her vast humanitarian activities, which consisted of working with and starting many charities. Diana used her royal title and her celebrity to raise awareness about many forgotten or overlooked causes. As a result of her worldwide travels, Diana became the people's princess and the public was intrigued with her devotion, consideration, and graciousness. John's audience might recognize the Royal Family and the paparazzi as the wind that blew against Diana's candle and ultimately snuffed it out. John continues to use picture words in the chorus to symbolize the struggles Diana faced. In line 12, "when the rain set in" allows the audience to picture her hard times. Still, Diana was a resilient woman, and her grieving audience would realize that she persevered over many obstacles in her life. She married at the age of 19, and anyone's marriage is difficult by itself. Add to the fact that she was thrust onto the world stage when she married into the Royal Family made it that much harder. John's lyrics suggest that Diana remained positive and rarely let the dark times get her public persona down. Next, John uses the image "your candle's burned out long before" (line 15, 31, 47),and the audience is able to picture a candle snuffed out before it had completely burned. This shows that Diana died early. However, John does not want to leave his audience with the idea that Diana lived a short life and then died in vain. John's powerful repetition of "your legend never will" (line 16, 32, 48) shows that Diana did not die in vain. John's lyrics fill his audience with hope by reminding them that Diana's life will be remembered and that she did as much in death as she did in life. In this problem, we have used musical polyphony as an analogy to describe multiple voices and events happening during a specific decade of the 20th century. Each person in our group is representing a different individual who had a prevalent voice in multiple areas during the 1980's. As organizations and workforces grew, people looked for ways to increase their productivity and profit margins. Taylor also created the "differential piece rate" (Hoopes 38) which would further alienate workers from each other, claiming it improved production. Overall, Taylor's theory of scientific management created a good environment for business owners but it only fueled alienation between the workers and the workers and society. Elton Mayo is best known for the Hawthorne effect. Mayo was well educated, studying at several different universities including engineering at the University of Glasgow. Mayo faced a lot of rejection during his career but his work greatly influenced our working environments today. He is quoted as saying that workers must rise above "indignation and frustration which the...new industrial society forced on workers" (Hoopes 130). Hearing it, we laugh, instantly tap our feet, and directors Phil Lord & Christopher Miller established a cadence with which their film could bounce to. The returns are middling at best, though one villain who arrives midway through the film is hilarious, and rather cleverly crashes the real world into the plastic and synthetic world these characters inhabit. Additionally, the movie employs a strong list of talented performers and relegates them to minimal, or nominal, character development and dialogue. Since the movie is primarily tied to the story of Lloyd and his megalomaniac father, and features Jackie Chan as a LEGO sensei who mentors the teenage ninjas, and serves as the wise old man who tells a young child about the story we are preparing to see, there isn't much room left for anyone else.
