This lighthouse project will develop the Nordic region into a pioneer
region for new and innovative digital solutions.
The project will work to remove barriers to a common Nordic digital
market, and support development of new and innovative digital
solutions that can be applied in the Nordic countries.
The idea is that this lighthouse project will help to strengthen the
Nordic region as a digital forerunner and prepare for the digital inner
market in Europe.*

6. A vision for a Nordic digital society 2025
The core idea of the lighthouse project revolves around a robust
and closely interlinked Nordic digital ecosystem and society where
a digitally advanced public sector facilitates and encourages new,
innovative digital solutions to be created by the private sector –
producing efficient and user friendly services to citizens,
companies and the public administration.
The aim for 2016 is to further co-develop the vision for a Nordic
digital society 2025 with a wide range of stakeholders from both
the private and the public sector. Activities include:
• ‘Future workshop’ (14 Apr)
• Stakeholder meetings and interviews (Mar-Apr)
• Establish business cases and roadmap (Mar-May)
• Achieving a consensus for a Nordic digital vision (Apr-Jun)

Central themes in the project include digital
identification, open data, common standards and
smart government/eGov. Strengthening the
Nordic digital ecosystem is important and
therefore we organize a range of networking
events and happenings such as the workshops, the
Nordic Digital Forum and open data events.

7. Removing barriers
Track: eID (2016-17)
 A 2015 project, commissioned by the Nordic CIO Group and the Nordic
Council of Ministers for Education and Research (MR-U), indicates strong
benefits for the Nordic countries to use national eIDs across borders
 Participating organizations were:
 DK: Agency for Digitisation
 FI: Ministry of Finance
 IC: Ministry of the Interior, National Registry
 NO: Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation, Agency for Public
Management and eGovernment (Difi)
 SE: Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation, eGovernment Delegation
 A follow-up project to the report and the recommendations are
currently being assessed by the MR-U and Nordic Innovation
Track: Smart government (2016)
 The scope of the project is to investigate the potential of automated
exchange of data between authorities and businesses in the Nordic
region
 The project is funded by Nordic Innovation and project managed by the
Danish Business Authority
 Participating organizations are:

 NO: Brønnøysund Register Centre
 SE: Companies Registration Office
 FI: to be confirmed

8. Inspiring and enabling digital innovation
Track: Data driven innovation (2016-17)
 The project aims to explore how a public-private collaboration in the Nordic digital community
can accelerate digital innovation in the Nordic countries, from idea and data to commercialized
digital services and products
