The Dawn of the Night
The preceding tale, as it happened, proceeded towards the writer upon the general route of the petty
town talk. Feeling half–quenched by the apparent buzz, (to be blamed solely on the peculiar
inquisitiveness of the writer) hence it happened that the story once again was absorbed, evidently
providing a much more absolute procession of facts, through the obliging mother; Mrs. Sheila
Jones's account. Which was precisely thus: Through the whole week, they told her she does not want
to meet her. They told her she would not eat, she would not sleep. Sheila tried to tell them and in
turn, to herself, that she was her mother. The families, both of hers and theirs, at last, appeared
profusely lost at Mrs. Jones adamant and consistent demands, and eventually, she was to cross the
door. Summoning a loose candle and some light in her spirit, thereafter, the mother moved the oaken
door. The door, lately, had been a passage to entreat a guest, into the chamber of the recently
widowed daughter of Mrs. Jones, who was by birth simply pronounced, Nora. The eldest daughter,
Nora Jones, both by the writer's common study and the town's long watch, came out to be a very
healthy and a sufficiently jolly being to observe and accompany. Therefore, upon the news of her
husband's untimely and unfortunate departure, almost the whole town witnessed a tinge of lethargic
and gloomy demeanors, in the visages of the frequent folk. However, of which it was duly noted by
the writer that the former expression

Eternity Comes with a Price in Stephanie Meyer's Breaking...
Spending eternity with your soul mate sounds like the ultimate dream come true, but what if eternity
came with a price? Twilight: Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer is a romantic novel based on the
hardships of marriage and family for main characters, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. Most of the
story of Breaking Dawn takes place in Forks, Washington at the Cullen house and in Bella and
Edward's new cottage in the woods. There's also a short jump to Isle Esme, just off the coast of
Brazil, where Edward and Bella spend their honeymoon. Some major themes in the story are; true
love, sacrifice, choices, and suffering. True love conquers all, but sacrifices and choices must be
made in order to have a happy ending. The story immediately jumps into ... Show more content on

Her motherly instincts kick in and a new challenge faces them, Reneesme is aging too rapidly. The
entire family sets out to seek other people who are like Reneesme, half human and half vampire.
When the Volturi finds out about Reneesme they think she is an immortal child, and go out kill the
child and the entire coven. When really all the Volturi wants is Alice and Bella for their gifts. Alice
and Jasper leave the Cullen's to find others like Reneesme. The Cullen's opened their home to 18
vampires to witness the growth of Reneesme and to prove she is not an immortal child. The Volturi
arrive the 18 witnesses declare that Reneesme isn't immortal; however, the Volturi will do anything
to get Alice and Bella. Alice then appears with a witness who is just like Reneesme and proves to the
Volturi she is not a danger to others. The Cullens are free of their crime and are allowed to live
peacefully on with their lives. In Breaking Dawn, true love overcomes all obstacles. True love also
leaves the characters no choice but to give their lives to save the people they love. Bella is willing to
sacrifice her life out of love of her daughter. Jacob stands against his own werewolf pack to protect
Bella and the Cullens. When Jacob imprints on Reneesme, he dedicates his life to her. After Bella
transforms into a newborn vampire, her love for Edward remains stronger than her thirst for blood.

Consumerism In Dawn Of The Dead
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
One of the main themes of George Romero's film Dawn of the Dead (1974) is consumerism. The
movie takes places in an American shopping mall which functions as the battle site for battles
between zombies, human survivors, and a gang of bikers. George Romero produced several zombie
movies that approached topics such as capitalism, consumer society, and economical structure. I
believe that especially Dawn of the Dead critiques consumerism caused by capitalism in society.
In the movie, Dawn of the Dead, a shopping mall serves as a hideaway of humans that have been
chased and attacked by zombies. The zombies are unconsciously longing for human flesh and come
to the shopping mall as they always had done in their human–lives. ... Show more content on

The racial theme could be seen in the movie as a racist SWAT officer (Wooley) blasted innocent
people, and the religious blindness of relatives who refused to hand over the dead, caused suffering
and the downfall of society. Another scene depicted the rural redneck culture and touched on many
of the stereotypes that followed without a single African American shown. Since the Civil Rights act
and Voting Rights Act were relatively new at that time, this small segment could have been
Romero's way of showing the social groups that were still resistant to these new changes while also
calling back to his first film Night of the Living Dead. Since the new policies took place there was a
lot of tension throughout various ethnic groups in the country and resentment could be seen from the
"old guard" who used to be politically superior because now the various immigrant ethnic groups
that were considered "inferior" now stood on equal footing with them, which is why I think Romero
chose to have Wooley go on a rampage to display this

Analysis Of Stephenie Meyer 's ' The Twilight Saga '
Stephenie Meyer is a well known author of the most popular fiction vampire romance novels. She is
a young writer and wrote her first series of four books called the Twilight Saga, which has become
one of the most popular books and movies in the world. Stephenie was born on December 24, 1973
in Hartford, Connecticut (Newsmakers). Her parents were Stephen and Candy Morgan, an executive
at a contracting firm and house–wife. They had a total of six children: Seth, Emily, Jacob, Paul,
Heidi, and Stephenie being the second oldest. Being one of the eldest siblings along with her sister
taught her much about how to be responsible (The Official Website of Stephenie Meyer). Her
parents were very religious and passed down their beliefs to their children. They were Mormons that
attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints (LDS). Due to their religion, she and
siblings were brought up in a strict way, which she has stated, has provided her with a care–free and
safe environment (USA Today). Growing up, Stephenie's parents would read their children adult
novels such as The Sword of Shannara and Gone with the Wind as bedtime stories. They would read
up to an anticipating moment in the story, stop, then tell their children it was time for bed. Curious
to know what was going to happen next, Stephenie would sneak the book out during the day and
read from where they left off. She did not know that she was reading well beyond her age of a
second–grader. When her parents would

The Meaning Of Freedom In World Literature
People can use World Literature in lots of ways but it is really used for is to get better at writing and
to get better at critical thinking. The meaning to World Literature is a body of work written from lots
of nations and known as literature throughout the world. People can use freedom in many ways in
world literature and especially in books. The meaning of freedom is the power to act, to speak and to
do anything he or she would like to do without anyone or anything stopping them. There is many
types of freedoms in world literature starting with good freedom. Good freedom is something he or
she would like to do and do it whenever he or she want but good freedom can also be having hope
that something good will happen or that he or she can finally do something or a whole community
can not do some day. Evidence of good freedom on the book Night "At six o'clock that night,
American tanks are at the door or Buchenwald"(Wiesel 115). "OUR FIRST ACT AS FREE MEN
was to throw ourselves onto the provisions. That is all we thought about. No thought of revenge,or
parents. Only of bread"(Wiesel 115). This evidence is an example of good freedom because the
American army finally came to help them and now the people are freemen, free women, free children
and now they are full of happiness that it is finally over and that they can do what they want and
finally eat and drink when they want and get their life back together. They did not want revenge

Dawn Of The Maya Summary
The video did a very good job at picturizing what our readings taught us. The video, Dawn of The
Maya, shows how the people in the Yucatan put fire to their rainforests for more land for building
and farming. This correlates with what Jared Diamond and Gugliotta stated. Both of these authors
made claims that go further than the documentary how the environment affected the Maya. They
talked about how long droughts affected those in the lower part of the Yucatan. All of the readings
agree with the video when it comes to how advanced the Maya were. There has yet be one author
that I have read that has stated otherwise. The video does make a point to say that the Maya fought
bloody wars of conquest across Mexico and Central America. Many of the authors we read would
refute that claim. Many believe that the wars the Maya fought were specifically for sacrifices.
Sheets put is as a power struggle where there was no winner or loser because it was never ending.
The Maya were not a peaceful civilization. They believed, like the Aztecs, that they needed human
sacrifice for the sun to move. Unlike the readings, the documentary goes into detail on how
excavation works. The video uses a ground penetrating system to see if there are tombs in the
ground. The documentary goes into a lot of detail prior to the collapse of the Maya. Most of our
readings start at the end while this documentary starts at the height of the Maya civilization. Which

Dawn Of The Dead Analysis
Humans tend to always want more. Whether it's new clothes, a new piece of technology, or some
other material possession they have been longing for, everyone buys into consumer culture. Still,
everyone would like to think that if placed in a difficult situation, they would be able to put aside
their need for material possessions and focus on the task at hand. George A. Romero, explores
consumerism in his film Dawn of the Dead, and forces the audience to face the consumer culture
that we all live in and contribute to. The protagonists of the film, Peter, Roger, Stephen, and Fran,
escape the zombie–filled Philadelphia via helicopter and begin their trek towards Canada; however,
they quickly find themselves short on gas and stop at a shopping ... Show more content on

After the men get back from picking up supplies, she tells Stephen "I'm afraid. You're hypnotized by
this place, all of you. It's so bright and neatly wrapped, you don't see that it's a prison too." While the
men become entranced by the fact that they can hide out with any supplies they might need right at
their fingertips, Fran has not forgotten the plan that the group originally had to escape to Canada.
She realizes they cannot get too comfortable in the mall. This is completely different approach than
what Romero took in the original Dead movie, Night of the Living Dead (1968), where Barbara was
completely useless and reduced to the stereotypical stunned and victimized female. In Dawn of the
Dead, while Fran still needs the men to save her from a zombie, she has the awareness to try to
escape and to confront the men about leaving her without a gun to defend herself. She does not want
to be the useless woman who only brings the group's survivability down. Fran is the one positive
bright spot within the group. She did not fall victim to the mall's atmosphere immediately upon
entering like the men did. Romero utilizes her character as an example of how one might not
succumb to the need for material goods. Nevertheless, Fran eventually gives into consumerism and
roams the mall with the men, joining them in their frivolous activities, proving that eventually the
consumer nature overrides the need for survival in

Analysis Of The Book Night By Elie Wiesel
McBride 1 Brandy McBride McAndrew ELAAugust 6, 2017 Night In the book Night by Elie
Wiesel there are many instances where his use of imagery helps establish tone and purpose. For
example Elie Wiesel used fire (sight) to represent just that. The fire helps prove that the tone is
serious and mature. In no way did Wiesel try to lighten up the story about the concentration camps
or the Nazis. His use of fire also helps show his purpose. "Never shall I forget that night, the first
night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven times scaled. Never shall I forget that
smoke. Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw ... Show more content

However he then stated "Where is he? This is where––hanging here from this gallows..." "that night
the soup tasted like corpses" (page 65). Here Wiesel had two very different opinions on the soup.
The way he described the soup in the first quote showed he was hungry and happy although once he
realized the truth everything changed. He soon found the soup to be repulsing and he wanted
nothing to do with it. For example when he says the soup tasted like corpses he means that they did
not feel the satisfaction of eating because they just witnessed a horrific occurrence. This helps with
tone because the reader can tell how quickly his tone went downhill. Last but not least is the sense
of smell which Wiesel used throughout the book by explaining the burners and crematories. "In
front of us, those flames. In the air, the smell of burning flesh. It must have been around midnight.
We had arrived. In Birkenau" (28, Wiesel). Along with the smell Wiesel had witnessed and heard
awful events that took place in the burners. "Over there. Do you see the chimney over there? Do you
see it? And the flames, do you see them?" (Yes, we saw the flames.) "Over there, that's where they
will take you. Over there will be your grave. You still don't understand? You sons of bitches. Don't
you understand anything? You will be burned! Burned into a cinder! Turned to ashes" (30–31,
Wiesel). This shows a different tone. It shows fear and worry because does anyone really

Summary Of The DAWN Study
The findings of the DAWN study are striking and certainly validate that much work needs to be
done to optimize care for people with diabetes. All the findings appear relevant with regard to
patient assessment, however given my career niche in intensive insulin management, I am most
attracted to the findings relative to effective use of medication. While I routinely see physicians
apprehensive to initiate insulin or intensify regimens to achieve improved glycemia, the statistics are
staggering and unfortunately validate much of what I observe. The study reports that 43.4% of
healthcare professionals (HCPs) prefer to "delay medication therapy until absolutely necessary"
(Funnell, 2006). Specialists were noted to initiate insulin earlier,

Themes Of Breaking Dawn
Stephenie Meyer's book, Breaking dawn takes place on earth in the normal world, but this book is
part of a series and the unusual part of this series is that it is based on the idea of love from a normal
teenage girl to a vampire that is part of a family of vampires. This book shows you the struggles of
being with a vampire and the sacrifices and then the friendly love for a werewolf. Then having a
child is hurting Bella and the child is a risk for their kind.
Love is powerful and something that brings the family together.
The whole series is based on the idea of love and this is the last book in the series. So concluding the
series, I believe that this book has the most emphasis on the theme and it has more elaboration.
In the book Breaking Dawn there has been a common theme of love throughout the entire book.
There has been a scene in the book that stood out and really influenced the idea of love and the
thought of being together. The wedding is the setting that captivates love and affection. This is
where everyone understand the deep meaning of Bella's and Edward's emotion and appreciation for
each other, they are willing to stay together and care for one another.
This is one of the times that many people are able to understand the power of their love. Therefore
love is a powerful thing and between Bella and Edward, they are able to overcome anything. There
is a second theme within that main idea of the entire book; that is sacrifice. Bella is able to make
sacrifices

Breaking Dawn
Movie Title:
The film title correlates with the pathos information category, as the aesthetic features both relate it
to a female audience whilst increasing their likeability of the poster. The film title 'Breaking Dawn',
uses a soft curling serif font that is highlighted by the use of the vibrant red. This color enhances the
likeability of the poster by a female target market through colour preference, which relates to pathos.
According to Altstiel and Grow, warmer hues tend to appeal more to women in advertising whilst to
cool tones appeal more to men. Contrastingly, the type of font used would enhance the informative
value, as it conveys that the film is for females through its stereotypical aesthetic. According to
Davies in the article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this instance icons such as health claims and health ratings on the cereal box, along with movie
studio and cinema logo's on the poster both use a small scale and subdued colors. Likewise, small
point sizes and font weights have been applied to pieces of information such as the ingredient list on
the cereal box, or website address on the movie poster, to give them minimal visual importance.
Whilst both visual arguments use ethos, they use it to evoke trust or credibility in different ways. For
example Carmans, a cereal brand, aims to promote their product as a credible, healthy cereal from
an Australian source. This is made clear through their factors that promote ethos such as the NFP,
Health claims and health ratings, which have the effect of creating healthy perceptions of a product.
Likewise repetitive features that reinforce the brand and its ingredients as being purely Australian,
creates trust in the product. Contrastingly, the Ethos promoting factors of the poster merely aim to
prove the legitimacy of the film. In this instance we have observed this through factors such as the
logo's that act as watermarks to prove that the imagery and information is

Walking Dead Symbolism
The Walking Dead season 8 premiere marks the show's 100th episode and the beginning of the
famous storyline, All Out War. There was a lot of anticipation for the episode and the show did not
disappoint. Throughout the episode, there was a very clear sense of what everyone was fighting for.
They were fighting for their friends, family, and their future. Rick is fighting for the future as well as
his personal vengeance against Negan. The new introduction was great as always. Each character
gets their unique title card and new additions always work extremely well. I'm glad they still show
the shot of the walker strolling through the field from Season 2. Near the beginning of the episode,
there is a scene where Carl is scavenging for gas. This was a mirror scene of the first episode of the
series where Rick is getting gas while heading to Atlanta. This scene was a great throwback and a
subtle way of celebrating the show's 100th episode. One of my favorite parts of that scene was when
Carl looked under the car to find a living person rather than a walker like Rick found way back in
episode 1. It shows how far the series has come. It also shows how walkers are much less of a threat
than they were in the first two seasons. As always the Walking Dead gives little hints of characters
and their past. The producers and writers of the show are huge on symbolism and it really shows.
The special effects for The Walking Dead are usually top notch, but they were lacking in

Dawn Romeo Meaning
A word that is used to describe a moment of awareness in which reality becomes self evident is
"dawn". The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare. It depicts the
forbidden love between two 'star crossed lovers' and demonstrates the extent they are willing to go
through based on how much affection they have for one another. "Summertime Sadness", is a song
written by Lana Del Rey. The song illustrates the pessimistic perspective of the women in the story
and the absence of hope she has. "Sunrise" by Isobel Campbell is a song which portrays a man who
constantly is shown to be missing he lover . Oftentimes, the word "dawn" is used to convey an act of

Juliet says, "Methinks I see thee, now thou art below, as one dead in the bottom of a tomb (Romeo
and Juliet 3.5. 54 – 55). These two lines discuss Juliet speaking out on how Romeo seems sick –
like, foreshadowing blatantly. This demonstrates that it has "dawned" on Juliet of what might
happen, or indirectly to the reader. A following example of this is emphasized in the song
"Summertime Sadness" in which the singer explains that she misses her deceased lover. She sings,
"I think I'll miss you forever, like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky ("Summertime Sadness"
37 – 38). In this excerpt of the piece, earlier, it mentions that she had been driving at rapid speeds
and while this occurred she had her lover by her heavenly side, referring to the fact that he has
perished. It can be assumed that she killed him and as an afterthought considered that she may
slightly miss him – this demonstrates that it "dawned" on her that she may miss her dead lover. The
song "Sunrise" adds onto this concept as it mentions a dismayed person who misses their lover and
persistently seeks to gain some attention from said partner. He sings, "Too much pain, too much
pressure, and why must I have to wait so long for the one that I treasure

In both Dawn by Octavia Butler, and District 9 we see the arrival of aliens and the dawn of a post

inadequate creatures to guide our own future. As both stories progress humans are forced to examine
things that we were once confident in, whether it is Dawn's portrayal emasculating the human males

The Importance Of Dehumanization In Night By Elie Wiesel
The memoir named Night by Elie Wiesel shows how The Jews in the concentration camps would be
treated so horribly, that they had to lose their minds, there was no alternative. All it would take was a
little time at their personally created hell and eventually they would fall apart. As time goes on they
seem to shatter, be it the death of a loved one in front of them or the beating of them everyday. The
story in whole being about how Wiesel was moved to a concentration camps and all the horrors
inside them, and how they changed his views of life at the time.
The very first example of this dehumanization from the get go would be how they were moved into
the ghettos. Just that first act started the long chain of events leading to their doom. It made them
caged, as an animal is. "The ghetto was ruled by neither German nor Jew; it was ruled by delusion"
(Wiesel 12). They tricked themselves into thinking they were free. Which obviously was not the
case. A sunny spring day, people strolled seemingly carefree through the crowded streets. They
exchanged cheerful greetings. Children played games, rolling hazelnuts on the sidewalks" (Wiesel
12). They begun to feel "normal" and safe again, while they should have had more concerns.
"The ghetto was to be liquidated entirely. Departures were to take place street by street, starting the
next day" (Wiesel 13). Days later after they felt safe again, they would be taken to the camps, to be
worked to death. They were dehumanized from that

Finding Dawn is an important film which sheds light on the issues of the missing First Nations
women in British Columbia. What this film raises on a deeper level, however, are the major social
prejudices and the systemic racism that exists in Canadian society. The film illustrates the deep
historical, social and economic factors that contribute to the epidemic of violence against Aboriginal
women. It highlights the disturbing, worldwide culture of exception that allows murders of women,

1939 was the year that started a harrowing six years of anguish and suffering for German and

thirties movie – knocked on Woody's door, and when they left, Papa was between them," (Houston
7). Houston suffered greatly, particularly at the start of the novel, when her father was dragged out
of their house without her family being able to question it. Her life consisted of her constantly
seeing the people she loved around her be taken from her; since she was so young, she was affected
by less although she grew up with knowing this was her childhood. On the contrary, in Night, Elie
struggled physically and mentally starting the first night he arrived at the concentration camp,
"Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven
times sealed," (Wiesel 34). Elie at the start of the novel struggled physically since he was doing all
this exhausting work he had never experienced before, and then mentally with if it was worth going
through–and if it would ever end. His life was not as similar to Houston's, where she saw others
struggling, as he was struggling along with them and becoming less of a human mentally as it went
on. Throughout the two novels, both went through troubling times as they were mistreated and
stripped of their natural

Consumerism In Dawn Of The Dead
Sigmund Freud's theory about a repressive civilization can be seen more prominently in Dawn of the
Dead because we know how they contributed to society prior to the apocalypse. Stephen and
Francine worked for a television network, and Peter and Roger are both police officers. They have
all deserted their responsibilities to guarantee their own immediate survival as the zombie turmoil
boils out of control. When there is no authority in power, society can't defend itself from the packs
of zombies. Those who scheme their own course of action are either consumed by the dead or
executed by more civilized beings. The mall is now an area for lawless pleasure because you can
take anything for free. When humans continue to disrupt the law it seems ... Show more content on

Since the setting of this film is placed in a shopping mall, it truly represents the disapproval of the
modern day buying culture. In the 1970's, Americans were zombies themselves slaving to the master
of consumerism because they would carelessly wander through stores impulsively consuming goods
that they didn't necessarily need. When the characters are at ease in their new dwelling, they have
time to appreciate the seeming pleasures around them. This is an occasion for them to enjoy
themselves, try on clothes, and eat whatever they want, "two separate montages show things such as
Rodger eating food directly from the jar, Fran putting on makeup and posing with a pistol in front of
the mirror, and everyone trying on expensive clothes" (Bishop, 146). The greedy need to purchase
and consume was deeply embedded in twentieth century Americans which explains why the
reanimated corpses in this film are driven by those same instincts and wants. The characters in the
film no longer see the traumatized world around them since they are too concerned with the goods
contained in the shopping center. It is their illogical desires that eventually put all their lives at risk.
The zombies lined outside the mall doors reveal how the four survivalists can't escape their
shopping desires since, "the mindless creatures are pressed up against the glass doors and windows,
clamoring to get inside the shops" (Bishop, 140) very similar to those standing outside the morning
of Black Friday eager to indulge and consume. Despite the fact that the shopping mall offers all the
materials they could ever want or need, they no longer have the ability to produce any goods
themselves. The work that gets done is only for utter survival rather than productivity and the few
remaining humans lose what Marx would call, "their identity as 'species beings' and are reduced to
the level of 'life–activity'

The Twilight Sag Teenage, Vampire, Romance
Twilight Saga: Teenage, Vampire, Romance The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Myer created a massive
fan following that grew into a supernatural franchise. The story of Bella and Edward was in the
hands of countless teenagers and adults alike, captivating audiences with the classic story of young
love, but with a vampire twist. The books were published starting when I was a young teenager, and
I was not immune to the charms of a sparkly vampire fighting his desire for love for the sake of her
safety. I religious read all four books, a few times, until the hard covers cracked at the edges, and the
open books fell open to my favorite parts from being opened for so long. After the books created a
sensation, a movie series was created. In a non–surprising fashion, the movies were popular, but as
any book lover will tell you about any movie made after a book, the book was better, way better.
Reading the story at the time, I ignored critics of the book, swearing by its love story and defending
the text as it stood in my world. Re–reading this book as an adult who has continued to read, I came
to the realizations that my tastes have evolved over time. I still enjoyed the story during my re–read
this past time, but the writing was not as striking; gone was the passion and addiction so deep I
could not set the books down. The first time I read Breaking Dawn, I read it straight it twelve hours
not stopping for anything. I read from 7pm until 7am, this month reading Twilight, was nowhere

An Army At Dawn Essay
The book An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa 1942–1943 gives the reader valuable insight
into the campaign in North Africa in 1942–1943 for both Allied and the German forces. The
narrative follows the American and British armies as they fought the Vichy French in Morocco and
Algiers, and then later when they fight the Germans and the Italians for Tunisia. The novel follows
the inexperienced and ill–led soldiers from battle to battle as they gradually become a more cohesive
and deadly fighting force. This novel also centers around the almost mythical but also flawed
commanders who dominate the battlefield and write their names in the history books: Eisenhower,
Patton, Bradley, Montgomery, and Rommel. The author, Patrick Atkinson, lays out a spectacular
narrative on what was happening during Operation Torch and in the North African Campaign. In
analyzing the narrative, the author's main points consist of the Allies (American and British) and
German strategy/thinking during the campaign. The other main points consist of the ally defeats and
failures during the campaign which resulted in them having to re–strategize and rethink of how to
defeat the Nazi forces under the command of Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. All of this
cumulates to his important main point, which was that the Allies gained enough vital experience
from their past defeats to win the overall campaign. There are parallels and tie–ins fro this book that
correspond to the readings that we have had to do

The Success of Stephanie Meyer Essay
"I'd never given much thought to how I would die, but dying in the place of someone I love seems
like a good way to go." Those are the famous words that started it all, The Twilight Saga
Phenomenon. The Twilight Saga consists of four novels: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and
Breaking Dawn. Stephanie Meyer, author of the popular saga, majored in English literature at
Brigham Young University. After graduating in 1997, Meyer chose to be a stay–at–home mother to
her three sons. The concept of the whole saga came to her in a dream one night. When she woke up,
she took a pen and paper and documented everything that occurred in her dream. She then based all
four novels on that dream because she had a gut feeling that it was going to make a great ... Show

No one besides her sister knew that she was writing a novel, little known at the time, but the
masterpiece known as Twilight. Since Meyer is a mother of three, and is busy with her kids' needs
and wants all day, she would take time late at night to work on writing her novel. And in three short
months, she completed Twilight, regardless of her insignificant amount of experience in writing. In
all four works, Bella Swan in the protagonist. The story is centered around her life. All four books
are written in her perspective. Meyer usually tends to write all her stories as first person narratives,
including books that are not related to the Twilight Saga like The Host. When Meyer writes, she
becomes completely engrossed in the characters. The main reason why she writes is because of the
characters she creates. She envisions them in her brain. She talks to them all day, and they talk back.
Coming up with the perfect names for the two main characters was a very tough process. She
wanted a name that was popular decades ago, but at the same time, she wanted a name that was
romantic for the vampire. Since Meyer grew up reading Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen, she used
the characters Mr. Ferrars and Mr. Rochester from their works as an inspiration; thus leading her to
choose the name Edward. After coming up with the names for the twosome, and was still in the
process of creating their story, they would constantly talk to her. She heard their voices all day, so

Batman Dawn Of Justice
In his approach to fighting crime, Batman (Ben Affleck) isn't particularly fond of restraint – and that
has Gotham City's bad guys terrified. But the Caped Crusader's zeal in meting out justice has earned
him a reputation as a vigilante, and attracted the attention of a reporter who happens to have some
issues of his own.
Clark Kent (Henry Cavill), who works for the Daily Planet in Metropolis, sees Batman not as a
kindred spirit but as a dark reflection. As Superman, Kent strives to do the right thing even in the
most difficult of circumstances.
But like Batman, he must deal with public scrutiny – particularly from Senator Finch (Holly
Hunter), who questions whether the Man of Steel can be trusted to use his powers responsibly. His
rescue of colleague and girlfriend Lois Lane (Amy Adams) from yet another tight spot appears to
strengthen Finch's argument. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" gets points just for finding a way to make a battle between

heroes–versus–scary–monster sequence that cheapens all that had come before – and sets up a late–

Working from a screenplay by Chris Terrio ("Argo") and David S. Goyer ("The Dark Knight

The Devil At The Dawn Of Christianity
The devil at the dawn of Christianity bore little resemblance to the ruler of hell, the antichrist and
agent of evil that he is known as in present day. Satan makes few overt or implied appearances in the
Old Testament. For the important role of God's greatest adversary, early Christians had to flesh out
great parts of Satan's story in order to develop him into his present, fearsome persona. The Christian
story of the Devil is heavily influenced by earlier Greek mythology, and early Christian writings
about the Devil co–opted local mythology in order to gain new converts and discredit popular pagan
beliefs. In the Old Testament story of Job, Satan is one of God's angels. In order to become the Satan
of evil, he must fall from God's grace and vacate his position in His court. Greek mythology told the
story of an epic battle in heaven between Zeus, god of heaven, and Typhon, the most fearsome of the
giants, with "100 dragon heads, coiling serpents for legs and hundreds of hands" (Littleton, 149).
Zeus succeeded in casting Typhon out of heaven forever, and the beast is said, variably, to either be
destroyed in Mt. Etna, or banished to Tartarus, the deepest level of the underworld. In Revelations
12: 7–9, Michael and the angels fight Satan, described as "the great dragon... that old serpent", and
cast him out of heaven and into hell. Early versions of 2 Peter, telling the same story, even use the
word Tartarus, which is later replaced with hell in King James and other popular

Disoriented Faith It is psychologically natural for humans to question faith and spirituality after
experiencing tragedy and loss. People may doubt or even reject their faith with God whom is
depicted in scripture as a source of peace and security in our lives. In Elie Wiesel's Dawn, Elisha
faces a similar spiritual contradiction after barely surviving the holocaust. After all of his family and
friends are murdered by the egregious acts of the Nazi's, Elisha seems to immediately question the
logic behind his faith in Judaism and God. Stemming from his upbringing as an Orthodox Jew, his
faith does not merely go away, rather, his understanding of God is reinterpreted into a more extreme
outlook that acts as his catalyst for change as he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gad appeals to the frustration of many recruits charismatically saying that: The commandment Thou
shalt not kill was given from the summit of the mountains here in Palestine and [Jews] were the only
ones to obey it. But that's all over; we must be like everybody else. Murder will be not our
profession but our duty (22).
Using scripture as justification, Gad implies that the commandments are not necessarily applicable
laws of God in this case. Likewise, during the last day of training, when a masked man addresses the
recruits (assumingly the Old Man), he introduces the men to the so–called– "eleventh
commandment: Hate your enemy" (23). An inkling of Elisha's past interpretation overcomes him at
this point as he recalls one of his masters teaching him that it is only the duty of God to take another
mans life. Posing an initial self–confliction, these new interpretations ingrained into the mentality of
The Movement ultimately overpower Elisha's previous beliefs, as he continues to kill in multiple
operations, each becoming less emotionally impactful than the last. The complete departure from
Elisha's previous set of beliefs is symbolically represented in the assigned execution of John
Dawson. Elisha believes that there is something more personal about taking a single man's life. In
the cases of other operations, he had indeed killed other men but assistance from other insurgents
eased the responsibility of killing.

The first section is about Bella's wedding and honeymoon. The second is how Jacob loves Bella but

Breaking Dawn of the story will be told from the way Stephanie Meyer. The first book starts as any

the after math of her marring a vampire. The talk of having a 'real honeymoon' made Jacob upset

Bella was surprised with the destination of her honeymoon. From a plane ride to a drive to a boat

uncontrollable, the Volturi has outlawed creating them. After Irina presents her allegation to the

other vampire clans from different parts of the world. All put forth a special talent that makes them
almost unbeatable. Towards the end they go and meet at the battlefield. Renesmee then goes and
uses her powers of memories or possibilities of the future to the Volturi, not liking their fate if they

Analysis Of ' How A Woman Can Get Hurt ' By Jean Kilbourne
"Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt", an article by Jean Kilbourne bitterly rags on sex in
advertisement. It goes into detail to describe how companies have become increasingly more likely
to sell sex in advertisements for products that, in reality, are entirely unrelated. Kilbourne focuses
primarily on how this is harmful to society– especially women and children and how they are
viewed by men, though men may also be targeted if not nearly as frequently. In a similar article
called "Taking a Bite Out of Twilight", Carmen D. Siering shares her disapproval of the popular
novel adored by so many: Twilight. Represented by the iconic red apple held in a women's palm
with a sinister black backdrop, Twilight is a modern fairytale where the prince belongs to a
monstrous society of blood–sucking models, and the princess is your average, plain–Jane highschool
girl with a knack for getting into trouble. Siering's opinion is most basically this: Bella is objectified
and downgraded in the Twilight series; a character created solely to compliment the plot propelled
by male characters. Where the majority of the population sees an aching, beautiful and dangerous
romance, Siering sees a controlling relationship and a dull female lead. Kilbourne's article brings to
light how Siering's article, directed at Stephenie Meyer's readers, is so accurate with the the
recommendation that everyone become more aware of the messages they are absorbing from media
as it snakes its way into society's

The, Dawn, And The Word For World
Throughout the semester, many of the works that the class examined took great care to differentiate
humans from aliens. Some of the aliens were visibly different like the Prawns in District 9, while
other aliens were physically similar, but had dangerous motives like the pod people in Invasion of
the Body Snatchers. However, somewhere along the line the distinction began to grow murky and
the humans began to appear as the monstrous ones instead of the aliens. Works like Avatar, Dawn,
and The Word for World is Forest depict humanity as inherently flawed, selfish, and territorial, a
vastly different image from earlier works like King Kong and Dracula where their actions were
portrayed as necessary. Using Lilith, Dawn by Octavia Butler takes a stance against
anthropocentrism by challenging the idea that humans are superior. In the beginning of the novel
when Lilith is in isolation she displays typical human behavior, fearfully making demands and
refusing to cooperate. She feels as if "she has to risk bargaining" and try to gain something from the
Oankali (Butler 6). While this probably would have worked from an anthropocentric point of view,
assuming that her captors were also human, this did not work with the Oankali because they do not
respond to temper tantrums or bargaining, only cooperation. However, the alienation brought forth
an opportunity for Lilith to open her mind because sometimes when the opinions of others
constantly surround an individual they do not attempt

Elie Wiesel Reflection
The book I chose to read and analyze is Night by Elie Wiesel. This book is I enjoyed the book
because it came from a first person perspective and is still relatable to our society today. Throughout
the novel Wiesel weaves an intricate story of loss and faith using figurative language to entice
readers in to the story. As I was reading I was curious about how Elie dealt with the atrocities he
experienced and how they would shape his faith. The theme that I will be exploring in this novel is
the reoccurring concept of faith. Night is a non–fiction book written from the perspective of Elie
Wiesel. The book spans two to three years of Elie's life beginning when he was "almost thirteen".
The story begins with Elie talking about his faith and how his life revolves around that faith. Elie
gives us information about the town he lives in and about his family life. His life changes when the
Germans take over and he and his family are sent to Auschwitz. When they arrive Elie's family is
split up. He and his father lie about their age and are sent to a concentration camp to work. They did
not know what happened to the rest of the family but Elie and his father were stripped of their
humanity. On a daily basis they worked, were beaten, and not given much food or water. Elie
struggles with his faith throughout the novel, even after surviving and leaving the camp. The theme
of faith is first portrayed from a religious angle. Wiesel uses repetition to make his point as he states

Dawn Of The Dead
Dawn of the Dead is a film written and directed by George A. Romero in 1978; it was the second
film in his Living Dead series but contains an entirely different setting than that of the first film. In
Dawn of the Dead, there are four main characters who survive the zombie outbreak. They flee their
first location, a random building, after it becomes infested with zombies; they soon find a shopping
mall in which they barricade themselves. It may seem as if this film was just another ordinary

role of the mall in his film. The Monroeville Mall, the film location, was one of the first megalopolis
shopping centers of its time. Using the mall as his location ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Romero creates a film that is far more than zombies; he compares the living to the living dead. We
can see that we are no different in behavior, except maybe the need for human flesh. The battle at
the end is the most important because it depicts a consumer massacre symbolized by horror details
of the zombies consuming human flesh. Overall, Romero does an outstanding job at creating
thoughtful underlying messages of consumer culture and symbolism of the mall and he is able to do
this through the narrative and complex characters he created. Even now that malls are not as popular
as before, we still have that need to consume but now our focus has shifted to technology. Even
more now than before we seem like zombies just passing by everyone, not making eye contact
because we are consumed by our phones. I had not realized that before watching this film, we are

The Dawn Of The Night

  • 1. The Dawn of the Night The preceding tale, as it happened, proceeded towards the writer upon the general route of the petty town talk. Feeling half–quenched by the apparent buzz, (to be blamed solely on the peculiar inquisitiveness of the writer) hence it happened that the story once again was absorbed, evidently providing a much more absolute procession of facts, through the obliging mother; Mrs. Sheila Jones's account. Which was precisely thus: Through the whole week, they told her she does not want to meet her. They told her she would not eat, she would not sleep. Sheila tried to tell them and in turn, to herself, that she was her mother. The families, both of hers and theirs, at last, appeared profusely lost at Mrs. Jones adamant and consistent demands, and eventually, she was to cross the door. Summoning a loose candle and some light in her spirit, thereafter, the mother moved the oaken door. The door, lately, had been a passage to entreat a guest, into the chamber of the recently widowed daughter of Mrs. Jones, who was by birth simply pronounced, Nora. The eldest daughter, Nora Jones, both by the writer's common study and the town's long watch, came out to be a very healthy and a sufficiently jolly being to observe and accompany. Therefore, upon the news of her husband's untimely and unfortunate departure, almost the whole town witnessed a tinge of lethargic and gloomy demeanors, in the visages of the frequent folk. However, of which it was duly noted by the writer that the former expression ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Eternity Comes with a Price in Stephanie Meyer's Breaking... Spending eternity with your soul mate sounds like the ultimate dream come true, but what if eternity came with a price? Twilight: Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer is a romantic novel based on the hardships of marriage and family for main characters, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. Most of the story of Breaking Dawn takes place in Forks, Washington at the Cullen house and in Bella and Edward's new cottage in the woods. There's also a short jump to Isle Esme, just off the coast of Brazil, where Edward and Bella spend their honeymoon. Some major themes in the story are; true love, sacrifice, choices, and suffering. True love conquers all, but sacrifices and choices must be made in order to have a happy ending. The story immediately jumps into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the Volturi finds out about Reneesme they think she is an immortal child, and go out kill the child and the entire coven. When really all the Volturi wants is Alice and Bella for their gifts. Alice and Jasper leave the Cullen's to find others like Reneesme. The Cullen's opened their home to 18 vampires to witness the growth of Reneesme and to prove she is not an immortal child. The Volturi arrive the 18 witnesses declare that Reneesme isn't immortal; however, the Volturi will do anything to get Alice and Bella. Alice then appears with a witness who is just like Reneesme and proves to the Volturi she is not a danger to others. The Cullens are free of their crime and are allowed to live peacefully on with their lives. In Breaking Dawn, true love overcomes all obstacles. True love also leaves the characters no choice but to give their lives to save the people they love. Bella is willing to sacrifice her life out of love of her daughter. Jacob stands against his own werewolf pack to protect Bella and the Cullens. When Jacob imprints on Reneesme, he dedicates his life to her. • 5. Consumerism In Dawn Of The Dead Dawn of the Dead (1978) One of the main themes of George Romero's film Dawn of the Dead (1974) is consumerism. The movie takes places in an American shopping mall which functions as the battle site for battles between zombies, human survivors, and a gang of bikers. George Romero produced several zombie movies that approached topics such as capitalism, consumer society, and economical structure. I believe that especially Dawn of the Dead critiques consumerism caused by capitalism in society. In the movie, Dawn of the Dead, a shopping mall serves as a hideaway of humans that have been chased and attacked by zombies. The zombies are unconsciously longing for human flesh and come to the shopping mall as they always had done in their human–lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The racial theme could be seen in the movie as a racist SWAT officer (Wooley) blasted innocent people, and the religious blindness of relatives who refused to hand over the dead, caused suffering and the downfall of society. Another scene depicted the rural redneck culture and touched on many of the stereotypes that followed without a single African American shown. Since the Civil Rights act and Voting Rights Act were relatively new at that time, this small segment could have been Romero's way of showing the social groups that were still resistant to these new changes while also calling back to his first film Night of the Living Dead. Since the new policies took place there was a lot of tension throughout various ethnic groups in the country and resentment could be seen from the "old guard" who used to be politically superior because now the various immigrant ethnic groups that were considered "inferior" now stood on equal footing with them, which is why I think Romero chose to have Wooley go on a rampage to display this ... • 7. Analysis Of Stephenie Meyer 's ' The Twilight Saga ' Stephenie Meyer is a well known author of the most popular fiction vampire romance novels. She is a young writer and wrote her first series of four books called the Twilight Saga, which has become one of the most popular books and movies in the world. Stephenie was born on December 24, 1973 in Hartford, Connecticut (Newsmakers). Her parents were Stephen and Candy Morgan, an executive at a contracting firm and house–wife. They had a total of six children: Seth, Emily, Jacob, Paul, Heidi, and Stephenie being the second oldest. Being one of the eldest siblings along with her sister taught her much about how to be responsible (The Official Website of Stephenie Meyer). Her parents were very religious and passed down their beliefs to their children. They were Mormons that attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints (LDS). Due to their religion, she and siblings were brought up in a strict way, which she has stated, has provided her with a care–free and safe environment (USA Today). Growing up, Stephenie's parents would read their children adult novels such as The Sword of Shannara and Gone with the Wind as bedtime stories. They would read up to an anticipating moment in the story, stop, then tell their children it was time for bed. Curious to know what was going to happen next, Stephenie would sneak the book out during the day and read from where they left off. She did not know that she was reading well beyond her age of a second–grader. When her parents would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Meaning Of Freedom In World Literature People can use World Literature in lots of ways but it is really used for is to get better at writing and to get better at critical thinking. The meaning to World Literature is a body of work written from lots of nations and known as literature throughout the world. People can use freedom in many ways in world literature and especially in books. The meaning of freedom is the power to act, to speak and to do anything he or she would like to do without anyone or anything stopping them. There is many types of freedoms in world literature starting with good freedom. Good freedom is something he or she would like to do and do it whenever he or she want but good freedom can also be having hope that something good will happen or that he or she can finally do something or a whole community can not do some day. Evidence of good freedom on the book Night "At six o'clock that night, American tanks are at the door or Buchenwald"(Wiesel 115). "OUR FIRST ACT AS FREE MEN was to throw ourselves onto the provisions. That is all we thought about. No thought of revenge,or parents. Only of bread"(Wiesel 115). This evidence is an example of good freedom because the American army finally came to help them and now the people are freemen, free women, free children and now they are full of happiness that it is finally over and that they can do what they want and finally eat and drink when they want and get their life back together. They did not want revenge because they are free now from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Dawn Of The Maya Summary The video did a very good job at picturizing what our readings taught us. The video, Dawn of The Maya, shows how the people in the Yucatan put fire to their rainforests for more land for building and farming. This correlates with what Jared Diamond and Gugliotta stated. Both of these authors made claims that go further than the documentary how the environment affected the Maya. They talked about how long droughts affected those in the lower part of the Yucatan. All of the readings agree with the video when it comes to how advanced the Maya were. There has yet be one author that I have read that has stated otherwise. The video does make a point to say that the Maya fought bloody wars of conquest across Mexico and Central America. Many of the authors we read would refute that claim. Many believe that the wars the Maya fought were specifically for sacrifices. Sheets put is as a power struggle where there was no winner or loser because it was never ending. The Maya were not a peaceful civilization. They believed, like the Aztecs, that they needed human sacrifice for the sun to move. Unlike the readings, the documentary goes into detail on how excavation works. The video uses a ground penetrating system to see if there are tombs in the ground. The documentary goes into a lot of detail prior to the collapse of the Maya. Most of our readings start at the end while this documentary starts at the height of the Maya civilization. Which is really ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For me, no matter how well one describes something I can never picture it the way it actually looks. • 13. Dawn Of The Dead Analysis Humans tend to always want more. Whether it's new clothes, a new piece of technology, or some other material possession they have been longing for, everyone buys into consumer culture. Still, everyone would like to think that if placed in a difficult situation, they would be able to put aside their need for material possessions and focus on the task at hand. George A. Romero, explores consumerism in his film Dawn of the Dead, and forces the audience to face the consumer culture that we all live in and contribute to. The protagonists of the film, Peter, Roger, Stephen, and Fran, escape the zombie–filled Philadelphia via helicopter and begin their trek towards Canada; however, they quickly find themselves short on gas and stop at a shopping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the men get back from picking up supplies, she tells Stephen "I'm afraid. You're hypnotized by this place, all of you. It's so bright and neatly wrapped, you don't see that it's a prison too." While the men become entranced by the fact that they can hide out with any supplies they might need right at their fingertips, Fran has not forgotten the plan that the group originally had to escape to Canada. She realizes they cannot get too comfortable in the mall. This is completely different approach than what Romero took in the original Dead movie, Night of the Living Dead (1968), where Barbara was completely useless and reduced to the stereotypical stunned and victimized female. In Dawn of the Dead, while Fran still needs the men to save her from a zombie, she has the awareness to try to escape and to confront the men about leaving her without a gun to defend herself. She does not want to be the useless woman who only brings the group's survivability down. Fran is the one positive bright spot within the group. She did not fall victim to the mall's atmosphere immediately upon entering like the men did. Romero utilizes her character as an example of how one might not succumb to the need for material goods. Nevertheless, Fran eventually gives into consumerism and roams the mall with the men, joining them in their frivolous activities, proving that eventually the consumer nature overrides the need for survival in ... • 15. Analysis Of The Book Night By Elie Wiesel McBride 1 Brandy McBride McAndrew ELAAugust 6, 2017 Night In the book Night by Elie Wiesel there are many instances where his use of imagery helps establish tone and purpose. For example Elie Wiesel used fire (sight) to represent just that. The fire helps prove that the tone is serious and mature. In no way did Wiesel try to lighten up the story about the concentration camps or the Nazis. His use of fire also helps show his purpose. "Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven times scaled. Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However he then stated "Where is he? This is where––hanging here from this gallows..." "that night the soup tasted like corpses" (page 65). Here Wiesel had two very different opinions on the soup. The way he described the soup in the first quote showed he was hungry and happy although once he realized the truth everything changed. He soon found the soup to be repulsing and he wanted nothing to do with it. For example when he says the soup tasted like corpses he means that they did not feel the satisfaction of eating because they just witnessed a horrific occurrence. This helps with tone because the reader can tell how quickly his tone went downhill. Last but not least is the sense of smell which Wiesel used throughout the book by explaining the burners and crematories. "In front of us, those flames. In the air, the smell of burning flesh. It must have been around midnight. We had arrived. In Birkenau" (28, Wiesel). Along with the smell Wiesel had witnessed and heard awful events that took place in the burners. "Over there. Do you see the chimney over there? Do you see it? And the flames, do you see them?" (Yes, we saw the flames.) "Over there, that's where they will take you. Over there will be your grave. You still don't understand? You sons of bitches. Don't you understand anything? You will be burned! Burned into a cinder! Turned to ashes" (30–31, Wiesel). This shows a different tone. It shows fear and worry because does anyone really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before me peaceful, behind me peaceful, under me peaceful, over me peaceful. ––––As I Walk with Beauty as I walk, as I walk. The universe is walking with me. In beauty, it walks before me. In beauty it walks behind me In beauty it walks below me. In beauty, it walks above me Beauty is on every side As I walk, I walk with Beauty. The story of the universe is a beautiful one. Its marvelous complexity knitted together molecules and energy to form stars, planets, galaxies and much more. Nature's story which is twenty–two thousand five hundred times longer than the dawn of mankind continues to unfold today. But has humanity progressions affected the way we relate to nature? The evolution of that formation created the world we live in today. The earth has been in existence for a little over four point five billion years to be exact. • 19. Summary Of The DAWN Study The findings of the DAWN study are striking and certainly validate that much work needs to be done to optimize care for people with diabetes. All the findings appear relevant with regard to patient assessment, however given my career niche in intensive insulin management, I am most attracted to the findings relative to effective use of medication. While I routinely see physicians apprehensive to initiate insulin or intensify regimens to achieve improved glycemia, the statistics are staggering and unfortunately validate much of what I observe. The study reports that 43.4% of healthcare professionals (HCPs) prefer to "delay medication therapy until absolutely necessary" (Funnell, 2006). • 21. Themes Of Breaking Dawn Stephenie Meyer's book, Breaking dawn takes place on earth in the normal world, but this book is part of a series and the unusual part of this series is that it is based on the idea of love from a normal teenage girl to a vampire that is part of a family of vampires. This book shows you the struggles of being with a vampire and the sacrifices and then the friendly love for a werewolf. Then having a child is hurting Bella and the child is a risk for their kind. Love is powerful and something that brings the family together. The whole series is based on the idea of love and this is the last book in the series. So concluding the series, I believe that this book has the most emphasis on the theme and it has more elaboration. In the book Breaking Dawn there has been a common theme of love throughout the entire book. There has been a scene in the book that stood out and really influenced the idea of love and the thought of being together. The wedding is the setting that captivates love and affection. This is where everyone understand the deep meaning of Bella's and Edward's emotion and appreciation for each other, they are willing to stay together and care for one another. This is one of the times that many people are able to understand the power of their love. Therefore love is a powerful thing and between Bella and Edward, they are able to overcome anything. There is a second theme within that main idea of the entire book; that is sacrifice. Bella is able to make sacrifices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Breaking Dawn Movie Title: The film title correlates with the pathos information category, as the aesthetic features both relate it to a female audience whilst increasing their likeability of the poster. The film title 'Breaking Dawn', uses a soft curling serif font that is highlighted by the use of the vibrant red. This color enhances the likeability of the poster by a female target market through colour preference, which relates to pathos. According to Altstiel and Grow, warmer hues tend to appeal more to women in advertising whilst to cool tones appeal more to men. Contrastingly, the type of font used would enhance the informative value, as it conveys that the film is for females through its stereotypical aesthetic. According to Davies in the article ... In this instance icons such as health claims and health ratings on the cereal box, along with movie studio and cinema logo's on the poster both use a small scale and subdued colors. Likewise, small point sizes and font weights have been applied to pieces of information such as the ingredient list on the cereal box, or website address on the movie poster, to give them minimal visual importance. Whilst both visual arguments use ethos, they use it to evoke trust or credibility in different ways. For example Carmans, a cereal brand, aims to promote their product as a credible, healthy cereal from an Australian source. This is made clear through their factors that promote ethos such as the NFP, Health claims and health ratings, which have the effect of creating healthy perceptions of a product. Likewise repetitive features that reinforce the brand and its ingredients as being purely Australian, creates trust in the product. Contrastingly, the Ethos promoting factors of the poster merely aim to prove the legitimacy of the film. • 25. Walking Dead Symbolism The Walking Dead season 8 premiere marks the show's 100th episode and the beginning of the famous storyline, All Out War. There was a lot of anticipation for the episode and the show did not disappoint. Throughout the episode, there was a very clear sense of what everyone was fighting for. They were fighting for their friends, family, and their future. Rick is fighting for the future as well as his personal vengeance against Negan. The new introduction was great as always. Each character gets their unique title card and new additions always work extremely well. I'm glad they still show the shot of the walker strolling through the field from Season 2. Near the beginning of the episode, there is a scene where Carl is scavenging for gas. This was a mirror scene of the first episode of the series where Rick is getting gas while heading to Atlanta. This scene was a great throwback and a subtle way of celebrating the show's 100th episode. One of my favorite parts of that scene was when Carl looked under the car to find a living person rather than a walker like Rick found way back in episode 1. It shows how far the series has come. It also shows how walkers are much less of a threat than they were in the first two seasons. As always the Walking Dead gives little hints of characters and their past. The producers and writers of the show are huge on symbolism and it really shows. The special effects for The Walking Dead are usually top notch, but they were lacking in ... The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare. It depicts the forbidden love between two 'star crossed lovers' and demonstrates the extent they are willing to go through based on how much affection they have for one another. "Summertime Sadness", is a song written by Lana Del Rey. The song illustrates the pessimistic perspective of the women in the story and the absence of hope she has. Juliet says, "Methinks I see thee, now thou art below, as one dead in the bottom of a tomb (Romeo and Juliet 3.5. 54 – 55). These two lines discuss Juliet speaking out on how Romeo seems sick – like, foreshadowing blatantly. This demonstrates that it has "dawned" on Juliet of what might happen, or indirectly to the reader. A following example of this is emphasized in the song "Summertime Sadness" in which the singer explains that she misses her deceased lover. She sings, "I think I'll miss you forever, like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky ("Summertime Sadness" 37 – 38). In this excerpt of the piece, earlier, it mentions that she had been driving at rapid speeds and while this occurred she had her lover by her heavenly side, referring to the fact that he has perished. It can be assumed that she killed him and as an afterthought considered that she may slightly miss him – this demonstrates that it "dawned" on her that she may miss her dead lover. The song "Sunrise" adds onto this concept as it mentions a dismayed person who misses their lover and persistently seeks to gain some attention from said partner. He sings, "Too much pain, too much pressure, and why must I have to wait so long for the one that I treasure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Golden Dawn brought a lot of problems into Paul's life, but every single time, the reader saw him persevere through to a solution. The quote, "A hundred smudge pots had been filled with fuel, fired up, and kept burning all night." (Bloor, 224). This quote shows the ongoing theme that Paul displays throughout the night. The Importance Of Dehumanization In Night By Elie Wiesel The memoir named Night by Elie Wiesel shows how The Jews in the concentration camps would be treated so horribly, that they had to lose their minds, there was no alternative. It made them caged, as an animal is. "The ghetto was ruled by neither German nor Jew; it was ruled by delusion" (Wiesel 12). They tricked themselves into thinking they were free. Which obviously was not the case. A sunny spring day, people strolled seemingly carefree through the crowded streets. They exchanged cheerful greetings. Theme Of The Book Night And Farewell To Manzanar 1939 was the year that started a harrowing six years of anguish and suffering for German and Japanese–American families, and the books Night by Elie Wiesel and Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Houston are prime examples of that. The two novels tell entirely different stories, from opposite sides of the world, both similar in the horrendous experiences in the gruesome war. Houston and Wiesel's lives were torn apart at the press of a button, and forced to suffer immensely throughout those six neverending years and now finally got to tell their story. Houston suffered greatly, particularly at the start of the novel, when her father was dragged out of their house without her family being able to question it. Her life consisted of her constantly seeing the people she loved around her be taken from her; since she was so young, she was affected by less although she grew up with knowing this was her childhood. On the contrary, in Night, Elie struggled physically and mentally starting the first night he arrived at the concentration camp, "Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven times sealed," (Wiesel 34). Elie at the start of the novel struggled physically since he was doing all this exhausting work he had never experienced before, and then mentally with if it was worth going through–and if it would ever end. Since the setting of this film is placed in a shopping mall, it truly represents the disapproval of the modern day buying culture. In the 1970's, Americans were zombies themselves slaving to the master of consumerism because they would carelessly wander through stores impulsively consuming goods that they didn't necessarily need. When the characters are at ease in their new dwelling, they have time to appreciate the seeming pleasures around them. This is an occasion for them to enjoy themselves, try on clothes, and eat whatever they want, "two separate montages show things such as Rodger eating food directly from the jar, Fran putting on makeup and posing with a pistol in front of the mirror, and everyone trying on expensive clothes" (Bishop, 146). The greedy need to purchase and consume was deeply embedded in twentieth century Americans which explains why the reanimated corpses in this film are driven by those same instincts and wants. The characters in the film no longer see the traumatized world around them since they are too concerned with the goods contained in the shopping center. It is their illogical desires that eventually put all their lives at risk. The zombies lined outside the mall doors reveal how the four survivalists can't escape their shopping desires since, "the mindless creatures are pressed up against the glass doors and windows, clamoring to get inside the shops" (Bishop, 140) very similar to those standing outside the morning of Black Friday eager to indulge and consume. Despite the fact that the shopping mall offers all the materials they could ever want or need, they no longer have the ability to produce any goods themselves. The books were published starting when I was a young teenager, and I was not immune to the charms of a sparkly vampire fighting his desire for love for the sake of her safety. An Army At Dawn Essay The book An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa 1942–1943 gives the reader valuable insight into the campaign in North Africa in 1942–1943 for both Allied and the German forces. The narrative follows the American and British armies as they fought the Vichy French in Morocco and Algiers, and then later when they fight the Germans and the Italians for Tunisia. The novel follows the inexperienced and ill–led soldiers from battle to battle as they gradually become a more cohesive and deadly fighting force. This novel also centers around the almost mythical but also flawed commanders who dominate the battlefield and write their names in the history books: Eisenhower, Patton, Bradley, Montgomery, and Rommel. The author, Patrick Atkinson, lays out a spectacular narrative on what was happening during Operation Torch and in the North African Campaign. In analyzing the narrative, the author's main points consist of the Allies (American and British) and German strategy/thinking during the campaign. The other main points consist of the ally defeats and failures during the campaign which resulted in them having to re–strategize and rethink of how to defeat the Nazi forces under the command of Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. All of this cumulates to his important main point, which was that the Allies gained enough vital experience from their past defeats to win the overall campaign. And in three short months, she completed Twilight, regardless of her insignificant amount of experience in writing. In all four works, Bella Swan in the protagonist. The story is centered around her life. All four books are written in her perspective. Meyer usually tends to write all her stories as first person narratives, including books that are not related to the Twilight Saga like The Host. When Meyer writes, she becomes completely engrossed in the characters. The main reason why she writes is because of the characters she creates. She envisions them in her brain. She talks to them all day, and they talk back. Coming up with the perfect names for the two main characters was a very tough process. She wanted a name that was popular decades ago, but at the same time, she wanted a name that was romantic for the vampire. Since Meyer grew up reading Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen, she used the characters Mr. Ferrars and Mr. Rochester from their works as an inspiration; thus leading her to choose the name Edward. After coming up with the names for the twosome, and was still in the process of creating their story, they would constantly talk to her. She heard their voices all day, so Meyer would ... • 55. The Devil At The Dawn Of Christianity The devil at the dawn of Christianity bore little resemblance to the ruler of hell, the antichrist and agent of evil that he is known as in present day. Satan makes few overt or implied appearances in the Old Testament. For the important role of God's greatest adversary, early Christians had to flesh out great parts of Satan's story in order to develop him into his present, fearsome persona. The Christian story of the Devil is heavily influenced by earlier Greek mythology, and early Christian writings about the Devil co–opted local mythology in order to gain new converts and discredit popular pagan beliefs. In the Old Testament story of Job, Satan is one of God's angels. In order to become the Satan of evil, he must fall from God's grace and vacate his position in His court. Greek mythology told the story of an epic battle in heaven between Zeus, god of heaven, and Typhon, the most fearsome of the giants, with "100 dragon heads, coiling serpents for legs and hundreds of hands" (Littleton, 149). Zeus succeeded in casting Typhon out of heaven forever, and the beast is said, variably, to either be destroyed in Mt. Etna, or banished to Tartarus, the deepest level of the underworld. In Revelations 12: 7–9, Michael and the angels fight Satan, described as "the great dragon... that old serpent", and cast him out of heaven and into hell. After all of his family and friends are murdered by the egregious acts of the Nazi's, Elisha seems to immediately question the logic behind his faith in Judaism and God. Using scripture as justification, Gad implies that the commandments are not necessarily applicable laws of God in this case. Likewise, during the last day of training, when a masked man addresses the recruits (assumingly the Old Man), he introduces the men to the so–called– "eleventh commandment: Hate your enemy" (23). An inkling of Elisha's past interpretation overcomes him at this point as he recalls one of his masters teaching him that it is only the duty of God to take another mans life. • 63. Analysis Of ' How A Woman Can Get Hurt ' By Jean Kilbourne "Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt", an article by Jean Kilbourne bitterly rags on sex in advertisement. It goes into detail to describe how companies have become increasingly more likely to sell sex in advertisements for products that, in reality, are entirely unrelated. Kilbourne focuses primarily on how this is harmful to society– especially women and children and how they are viewed by men, though men may also be targeted if not nearly as frequently. In a similar article called "Taking a Bite Out of Twilight", Carmen D. Siering shares her disapproval of the popular novel adored by so many: Twilight. Represented by the iconic red apple held in a women's palm with a sinister black backdrop, Twilight is a modern fairytale where the prince belongs to a monstrous society of blood–sucking models, and the princess is your average, plain–Jane highschool girl with a knack for getting into trouble. Siering's opinion is most basically this: Bella is objectified and downgraded in the Twilight series; a character created solely to compliment the plot propelled by male characters. Where the majority of the population sees an aching, beautiful and dangerous romance, Siering sees a controlling relationship and a dull female lead. Kilbourne's article brings to light how Siering's article, directed at Stephenie Meyer's readers, is so accurate with the the recommendation that everyone become more aware of the messages they are absorbing from media as it snakes its way into society's ... • 65. The, Dawn, And The Word For World Throughout the semester, many of the works that the class examined took great care to differentiate humans from aliens. Some of the aliens were visibly different like the Prawns in District 9, while other aliens were physically similar, but had dangerous motives like the pod people in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. However, somewhere along the line the distinction began to grow murky and the humans began to appear as the monstrous ones instead of the aliens. Works like Avatar, Dawn, and The Word for World is Forest depict humanity as inherently flawed, selfish, and territorial, a vastly different image from earlier works like King Kong and Dracula where their actions were portrayed as necessary. Using Lilith, Dawn by Octavia Butler takes a stance against anthropocentrism by challenging the idea that humans are superior. In the beginning of the novel when Lilith is in isolation she displays typical human behavior, fearfully making demands and refusing to cooperate. She feels as if "she has to risk bargaining" and try to gain something from the Oankali (Butler 6). While this probably would have worked from an anthropocentric point of view, assuming that her captors were also human, this did not work with the Oankali because they do not respond to temper tantrums or bargaining, only cooperation. However, the alienation brought forth an opportunity for Lilith to open her mind because sometimes when the opinions of others constantly surround an individual they do not attempt ... Terri's next set of questions concern brand positioning. Dawn has a dominant place in Terri's mind. Positioning is the attempt of a brand to occupy the space of a consumers mind. A more detailed definition comes from the AIU textbook entitled Marketing Management which states, " Positioning is the act of designing the company's offering and image to occupy a distinctive place in the minds of the target market"(Kotler & Keller 2009).One drop of Dawn completing a sink full of dishes is the goal it helps consumers achieve. • 73. Elie Wiesel Reflection The book I chose to read and analyze is Night by Elie Wiesel. This book is I enjoyed the book because it came from a first person perspective and is still relatable to our society today. Throughout the novel Wiesel weaves an intricate story of loss and faith using figurative language to entice readers in to the story. As I was reading I was curious about how Elie dealt with the atrocities he experienced and how they would shape his faith. The theme that I will be exploring in this novel is the reoccurring concept of faith. Night is a non–fiction book written from the perspective of Elie Wiesel. The book spans two to three years of Elie's life beginning when he was "almost thirteen". The story begins with Elie talking about his faith and how his life revolves around that faith. Elie gives us information about the town he lives in and about his family life. His life changes when the Germans take over and he and his family are sent to Auschwitz. When they arrive Elie's family is split up. He and his father lie about their age and are sent to a concentration camp to work. They did not know what happened to the rest of the family but Elie and his father were stripped of their humanity. On a daily basis they worked, were beaten, and not given much food or water. Elie struggles with his faith throughout the novel, even after surviving and leaving the camp. The theme of faith is first portrayed from a religious angle. Wiesel uses repetition to make his point as he states "Why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Dawn Of The Dead Dawn of the Dead is a film written and directed by George A. Romero in 1978; it was the second film in his Living Dead series but contains an entirely different setting than that of the first film. In Dawn of the Dead, there are four main characters who survive the zombie outbreak. They flee their first location, a random building, after it becomes infested with zombies; they soon find a shopping mall in which they barricade themselves. It may seem as if this film was just another ordinary zombie film but George A. Romero created a more profound meaning to this film, in particular the role of the mall in his film. The Monroeville Mall, the film location, was one of the first megalopolis shopping centers of its time. Using the mall as his location ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Romero creates a film that is far more than zombies; he compares the living to the living dead. We can see that we are no different in behavior, except maybe the need for human flesh. The battle at the end is the most important because it depicts a consumer massacre symbolized by horror details of the zombies consuming human flesh. Overall, Romero does an outstanding job at creating thoughtful underlying messages of consumer culture and symbolism of the mall and he is able to do this through the narrative and complex characters he created. Even now that malls are not as popular as before, we still have that need to consume but now our focus has shifted to technology. Even more now than before we seem like zombies just passing by everyone, not making eye contact because we are consumed by our phones. I had not realized that before watching this film, we are ... • 77. Summary Of ' The Great Gatsby ' By F. Scott Fitzgerald Tara and Willow made their way down the steps, Tara gripping onto her long sleeves and pulling them down to half cover her hands. Covering up was like a security blanket; it made her feel less exposed and calmed her down. "Please don't hesitate to call me." Giles called out from the door, a grim smile marking his face. Tara watched the light breeze move a tree's leaves as she and Willow walked on the sidewalk, closer to the school now. The energy Willow was giving off seemed impatient and troubled. It wasn't until they walked into the campus that Willow voiced her feelings. "Why won't you talk to me? Tara, I...I know this is probably the last place you want to be right now, with me, but..." "Willow..." "I need to hear your voice, so I know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were other ways. She backtracked once she realized that Tara would not approve of stranding a friend, no matter how much she wanted to avoid the confrontation with Buffy. "Uhh, then again..." "Well, if...umm...if we're just meeting for the first time ever, a sleepover might be considered moving too fast." A half–smile formed on Tara's face. Willow was thrilled to see it, a beacon of light in the darkness that was their temporary–because it was temporary, if Willow could help it–separation. "Hmm, I think you're right." Willow grinned in reply. A Tara smile makes a jubilant Willow. Unconsciously, they ended up in front of Tara's old dorm room, the hallways leading to it used more by the girls than the ones towards their classrooms. Tara fumbled in her bag for the key. When she opened the door Willow sighed in wonderment, taking in the sights. Tara's pretty Christmas lights were spread about and one of the dressers was filled to the brim with candles, books, and an assortment of pens and paper. The burgundy sheets on the bed were ones they reused at Buffy's house and the smell that was Tara's perfume and incense engulfed Willow's senses. This was Tara's domain, adorned with framed ...
