Attending College Expenses
There are many expenses that come along with attending college. Since I come from a low income
family I plan to make the most out of all of the financial help I can get. I never have had to worry
about paying for my education before, but now that I do I have began to think of different ways to
attain money for a higher education. In fear of graduating with huge student debt, taking out loans
was not part of my plans. Despite my fear, after thoroughly looking over my financial award letters I
think that I might have to rethink this and make loans a viable option. I have also never had to
become employed to pay for my education. However, I plan to do a work study, at the university
that I end up attending, in order to fill the financial gap.

The Cost Of Attending College Analysis
The Cost of Attending College
"I'm not going to college" my friend told me over the phone one day during a conversation we were
having. I was somewhat surprised, but his decision did not catch me completely off guard. We had
discussed the topic before and he mentioned his consideration to not attend college after he
graduated from high school. He believed that even though he would probably enjoy going to college
and learning new information, college was not the best option for him. He is smart; however, he was
already working various jobs and projects while in high school, sometimes missing school to
complete his responsibilities. He was making much more money during high school than most
students his age. He applied and was accepted at various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are many factors that play into someone's choice of attending college: interests, goals, prior
education level, intelligence, financial situation, as well as many others. The higher the cost of
attending college and obtaining a degree goes, the more pertinent this question becomes to society.
The type of job a person is planning on obtaining after he completes his college education greatly
impacts the value of his degree. Acquiring a well–paying job after leaving college is the only way
for a college graduate to effectively pay off his student loans. Before someone can earn a degree and
enter into the workforce, they must do well and complete all of their years in college. If a student
goes through college for one year or two and then drops out and enters the workforce, he has wasted

People will often tell you that they want to be rich or famous when they grow older, how will that be
possible without the proper education and schooling? Many people dream of being an entrepreneur
or a lawyer and they believe that it is possible to be one of those things out of thin air. It's not. Often
times most businesses want to see a degree or a diploma to even consider you for a job. However,
there are many advantages of attending college. The advantages of attending college is never ending

The Problem Of Attending College
In the current state of our society, the most financially satisfying jobs typically require a college
degree. This becomes a problem to an individual if they choose not to attend college and try to enter
the workforce right out of high school, or attend college only to later decide it is not working for
them and, consequently, end up dropping out of college, possibly accumulating thousands of dollars
in student loan debts but no degree. Rewind back one generation, to the parents faced with the
choice of whether or not to attend college, and it is very unlikely that they are planning their future
family at this point, let alone how their level of education will affect their children – the children of
this generation who are now being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They know that satisfactory grades in college are the result of long hours of hard work and studying
as well as how burdensome it can be to work a part–time job while being a full–time student. Their
advice can lighten the load of their child and give them at least an idea of how to merge into college
life successfully. (Medley–Rath) Even though they do recognize how grueling college can be, they
still hold high expectations. Aside from knowing the "rules of the road" in college, having a college
degree also gives parents an ascendency in parenting techniques when raising children and a greater
availability of unique privileges for them, like extracurricular activities, just by having a
professional career. Young children that come from a household with a professional career were
found to be exposed to fifteen hundred more words in just one hour compared to children of the
same age from welfare or working class homes, and also over five hundred thousand more instances
of encouraging feedback, giving their kids an abundant immersion into literacy and vocabulary at a
young age. Being spoke to in a proficient demeanor boosted achievements and academic triumph
for these young children. (Shenk) Belonging to an intrinsic social class also shapes how involved
the parents are in their child's life and how the child fosters. Parents of a more exclusive social circle

Attending College Benefits
Front my points of view, the benefits of attending college are manifold. According to the U.S
Census bureau, a "Bachelor's Degree holder earns twice as much in a lifetime as a high school
graduate". Even better, there are more job options available to choose from, instead of having
limited places in the workforce to work for owing to the fact that we never attended college.
Although, not everybody may have the opportunity to attend college at some point, but when
opportunity strikes, it can't be thrown away. Moreover, it is important to further our education, to
increase our earnings potential, to increase our knowledge and have a better future. Besides

It's true, this is why in a lot of TV commercials or on billboards, advertisers always say: " Want a
better future... then, this college is right for you, call this number below or visit us online now to
change your life." In other words, attending college gives society an opportunity to change lives,
have a better future and change careers. In my opinion, not a lot people will see it this way as "I
don't have to attend college to have a better future, I have a good job so I'm happy", but then again
more doors will be open, more opportunities and a better way to live life as long as you attend
college and get a degree. Many people choose whether or not to attend college, not all of them didn't
get the opportunity to go but some of them just decided to throw that opportunity away and mess up
their lives. For the reasons above, there are plenty of other benefits of attending college, but in my
opinion the main are: it will increase our earning potential, our knowledge, and gives us a better
chance to have a better future. Meaning, us a society, we have to know when opportunity strikes, we
can't let it pass by because at the end of the day, we will see the

Essay On Attending College Of The Ozarks
From the time I was in junior high, my grandmother had been telling me about College of the
Ozarks and trying to convince me to attend the college. After much consideration, I decided to make
College of the Ozarks my top priority when applying to colleges. The atmosphere of the college, the
perfect distance from home, and the opportunity to work for my education were all major factors
when making this decision. I had attended private Christian schools for most of my life, so the small
campus and Christian values of College of the Ozarks appealed to me much more than the chaotic
partying ways of a larger university. I knew if I attended College of the Ozarks, many of my classes
would be more difficult than at a public university; however, I saw the difficult classes as an
opportunity to learn more, which I believed would help me later in life. I also knew the professors at
College of the Ozarks would be more caring and more willing to help than those at other colleges. ...

I had lost hope and started applying at other colleges. Thankfully, I was in the Oklahoma Promise
program, which would allow me to attend any public university in Oklahoma tuition–free for up to

college with a Christian atmosphere. Then, about two months later, I received a small letter from
College of the Ozarks. I had heard accepted students received large packets, so I believed the small
envelope confirmed what I had already known, I would not be attending the college of my dreams. I
opened the letter and the first word, "Congratulations" made me jump with joy. I had never been

Attending college gives a person countless opportunities which is why more and more people are
going to college. Menand explains the different educational system that shows how much of a mess
the American education system really is. The theories Menand claims in the article are good models
for the purpose of higher education in our culture throughout our history. There is not much that
anyone can agree on based on every man having a different opinion on the matter and how to
educate our children, but Menand shows us the three main ideas of education and he points the
flaws out with ease. These three theories have been developed and explain the meaning of college.

Essay on Benefits of Attending College
The importance of attending college
Time after time you hear about going to college; whether at work, family, friends, and even when
you are in high school you might have been repeatedly told of how it can benefit you in the long run
in regards to your future. They say a good education can take you far in life. Students in high school
may still question the importance of a college education. In the world of today people find
themselves asking, "Why is it important to go to college?" An important aspect of succeeding in
today's world is getting a better education, and it's much more than just a degree – in college you

Further, a college graduate also has better options and opportunities to progress in their career.
Going to college allows for many opportunities to open up in life. Society is changing at a very
rapid rate. College is a very difficult time for nearly everyone, as Charles Murray who published an
article on should the Obama Generation Drop out also states that "A large majority of young people
do not have the intellectual ability to do genuine college–level work" (95). Attending college is not
for everyone, but It can teach you to learn how to become independent, develop discipline, evolve
new life skills, and learn how to balance a social life versus student life. The experiences you obtain
and gain from attending college can lead you to learn how to live your life within the college
environment in a way that creates harmony with who you are. It is a time of trial and error until you
find what works for you. Eventually harmony is found by choosing a major that coincides in a
positive way with the person you are. Once this is found, you will be able to establish a system of
studying and learning that works for how your mind works. It is natural that your life will be in
disharmony when the circumstances in your life change dramatically, such as when you go to
college, but your life should eventually return to being less stressful. During your college journey,
you will make many friends. Many friendships that you make in college

Cons Of Attending College
Pros and Cons of Attending College
In the discussion of College education, one controversial issue has been whether or not it's a good
idea to attend college. On the one hand, some people argue that a college education is the only way
to succeed in life. On the other hand, some people contend that going to college isn't worth it in the
long run, and that you will only put yourself in a huge amount of debt. My view is that college
although costly, will have a much greater pay out than not having a degree. My opinion is based on
the idea that as the economy continues to change and grow, a degree reassures not only a stable job
but also a growing income. There are many reasons why the pro's out weigh the con's for attending

A smart choice to consider is a community colleges or Junior Colleges. Attending these colleges
after high school will greatly help avoid early debts. What most people don't consider is that
generally the students who graduate with high amounts of debt also graduate with higher degrees
such as a masters or higher. This is an important fact because that means that those students will
more than likely make quite a bit more income than the average undergrad. In fact, according to a
report from, The University of Georgetown's Center on Education and the Workforce, the average
master's degree will earn you one million more dollars over that of a bachelors and a doctorate will
earn you an average of two million more in a lifetime. When questioned about why student debt is
so much higher for grad school graduates over undergrads, Jason Delisle, director of the Federal
Education Budget Project at New America, said, "Well, graduate school isn't college. When people
say 'college,' you're thinking two–year, usually four–year degrees, but they're definitely not thinking
masters of arts." What Delisle meant by this is that like I stated earlier, Grad schools are a much
higher level of education and will also yield a lot more income. It is possible to have a great life
with no college degree, but according to an article written by, U.S. News & World Report, only
fourteen percent of high school grads make equal to or more than the average college

Going To College : The Challenges Of Attending College
Challenges of choosing
The actions that are made following High School are huge and they greatly impact the future of
your life. We can attend college, enlist in the military, or go straight into the workforce. We have a
plethora of options after High School. Attending college is more suitable for me than going straight
into the workforce. I am looking into multiple colleges. I have three main colleges that I would like
to attend. Bowling Green, Grove City, and Full Sail University. Going to college is a huge part of
my life, but it will also be very expensive. At Full Sails for three semesters, it costs over thirty grand
(Fullsail) and for Bowling Green we are talking over twenty–five thousands of dollars for a
year(Bowling–Green). And for four years that is over one–hundred–thousand dollars for a college
education. Going to college is not just for the diploma. It is also going for the experience. All three
of my siblings have gone to college, with two already graduated. They have met some of their best
friends there and have made many memories. The on campus experience is probably the top reason
why I want to attend college. I still don't know what I want to do with my life. Going to college will
help me figure that out

Should Attending A Private College?
Imagine a student making one decision involving college and having this choice dictate the rest of
their life as well as be the deciding factor as to where they will receive a job. Seniors in high school
face this difficult and often stressful decision to choose the right college. This is a confusing time
for numerous students, because selecting the perfect college involves more than just money. While
there are differing opinions revolving around the topic of college price, many people promote
students to attend public colleges as they can learn the same skills and gain the same degree for a
cheaper price. This is a false claim because students are not considering other factors, such as does
the college offer an environment for the student to prosper and thrive and the ability to make the
right connections? Students should consider attending a prestigious, private college because this is
where they will receive the best education, employment benefits, and opportunities. Attending a
private college increases a student's chance of earning a higher paying job because employers not
only value a degree but also where a person earned that diploma from. Private colleges are
independent schools funded privately through a variety of sources. Public colleges, on the other
hand, are public schools funded by the government. Because of the difference in funding, this
bridges a gap between the tuition of these two schools. This tuition difference is what prompts
students and families

The Cost Of Attending College
In today's society, multitudes of our high school graduates are being pushed and excessively
encouraged to attend college. Attending these colleges has negatively affected many college
graduates, such as providing attendees debt and wasted resources on attaining a college degree.
However, the pros considerably outweigh the cons on the worth of a college degree. College is
worth the cost because it gives graduates' ample opportunity and success, larger wages than that of
non–college graduates, and gives graduates life–skills that will stupendously bene/fit them not only

Attending college introduces you into a whole different perspective of life. College provides you an
opportunity to have a glimpse of how well you can perform and live on your own. Yes, you still
need to study, achieve the grades to stay in college, and does expand your knowledge, but the social
skill learned by having to meet with the professor, or having to acquire new friends, or how to
manage your time wisely help an individual prepared for the jobs you will be working on after
college. There are a few reasons that may compel people question if college is worth it, like "how
will I pay off my student debt?" or "I can still find a job that pays just as well." These reasons are
wrong and here's why. College graduates are paid on average $21.77 for men and $18.43 for women
(chart). The minimum wage for non–college graduates is $7.25. That is about a third of what a
college education can earn for you. Another statistic is that college graduates gain almost $20,000
more a year than non–college graduates. "The median gap in annual earnings between a high school
and college graduate as reported by the U.S Census Bureau in 2010: $19,550 (Is College Worth It)."
With the extra $20,000, college graduates can pay off their college debt, which is on average around
$30,000. The extra $20,000 made can help pay the debt off and can help you in the long run if you

Working While Attending College
Incoming freshmen experience the difficult decision of whether or not they would prefer to maintain
a part–time job while attending college. For some students it may be a necessity, while for others,
simply a desire. As an academic advisor, it is my job to assist the students in their growth and
development by establishing meaningful educational plans which are compatible with their life
goals. The student can either decide to manage working during school, or can solely focus on
academics. Beginning college can be quite overwhelming, even without having a part–time job.
College freshman students who are in college must consider academic, social, and psychological
effects of working, in addition to whether or not it will interfere with their educational goals.
During the decision making process, students must be aware of the academic effects that arise when
working a part–time job and attending classes throughout each week. A job can provide benefits,

student decides to go to college, they will have to pay a large amount of money to attend the college
of their choice. Sometimes the college of their choice is too much for them to afford. Depending
where they attend college can be a factor depending on if they can afford the necessary items, such
as books and school supplies.
There are many big colleges that students hope to attend, but when they are looking at how much
they are, their favorite college might be too expensive for them to afford. The tuition at some
schools are very expensive, along with the

does not come unless if there is an experience and the knowledge. Experience comes from stations
and the life battles. Knowledge comes from schools, colleges and universities. It comes from
education. My motivation is to be creativity man ,and to be successful man. To be honest, my
motivation comes from both, internal and external. For internal, I feel there is something inside
inside my self moving to scussful way. Also, there is something inside my brain told me that I
should to thinking right wa. I should to think about creativity. On anther hand, for external offcourse

The Tradition Of Attending College
The tradition of attending college has changed over the past fifty years. Previously, college was
provided to those privileged students who wanted to receive an education beyond high school.
Today this still remains the case, but now most teenagers attend college to ensure and strengthen
their future. In today's society, a college degree does not even promise a successful job, but it still
serves as a social norm. For some, college is not even an option due to their financial status, and for
others, the "college life" does not seem to suit them. In my perspective, those who drop out,
overstress, and become overwhelmed in college become this way because they were not fully
prepared in their previous school years. High school simply does not ... Show more content on

Huffington Post writes, "...four in 10 high school graduates are required to take remedial courses
when they start college...and fail to earn their degrees within six years" (Kuczynski–Brown). An
article posted by The Wall Street Journal complements this argument by saying "The number of
college students taking at least one remedial course rose to 2.7 million in the 2011–2012 academic
year from 1.04 million in 1999–2000..." (Mitchell). An article published by SAGE reported that "Of
U.S. students in a 4–year colleges, 40% take at least one remedial course, an act associated with a
higher likelihood of not completing a college degree. As more students take remediation, fail to be
retained, and enter underprepared for credit–bearing courses, investigating college readiness is
increasingly important" (Tierney). All of the following articles support the idea I propose. Looking
at the amount of students taking remedial courses once they enter a post–secondary institution can
show proof of the lack of preparation. Instead of building upon the knowledge they have already
gained from high school, they now have to participate in remedial courses that will refresh the
basics. Students have dreams to go to college and unfortunately they are not prepared for what
college has in store. High school and college. Two very close transitions with very little time in
between them. High school does not become crucial until junior

attend at any college, because I had to stay in camp, otherwise I might get arrested for leaving the
camp without a permission.
Consequently, after staying in the camp for five years, I get the prospect to come to the US. It was
one of the break through moment of my life to be in a nation full of freedom and opportunity.

Disadvantages Of Attending College
The concept of attending college is becoming more relevant throughout the progression of one's
adolescent years. Some have had the notion of "being able to acquire and maintain good grades in
order to attend a prestige university" established as early as elementary school. College has become
the representation of enhancing one's education and leading them to success lifestyle, because of
this millions of students attending college, either community college or university, every year with
the amount increasing at a rapid pace. Although education is the primary reason students attended
college for, not only do they gain an advantage over those who had not had the similar opportunity
but as well as an irreplaceable connection to other students and unforgettable experiences; adding a
great deal of value for attending college. The primary reason why college has become of such high
value in our society is due to the advantages it presents to its former/current students when applied
into the real world. Based on a recent study conducted by Pew Research Center, college graduates,
ranging from ages 25 to 32, working full time earn approximately $17,500 more annually compared
to those with only a high school diploma (PEW). An increased salary has become the most notable
and desirable reward of achieving a college degree. As more students commence to attend colleges
and are able to obtain degrees of value the wage gap will continue to increase. With more

Growing up, college has always been drilled into my head as not only an option but rather a
requirement that must be fulfilled in order to achieve a sufficient lifestyle, or even better, a
successful life filled with many accomplishments. As I grew up, the idea of attending college grew
on me as I worked hard in my classes, striving for As but knowing that it was okay to make
mistakes sometimes. Attending a college preparatory middle school made my dream of attending
college a most viable option. As I learned more about the hundreds of colleges around the world,
many caught my attention, but I knew that I would have to set the bar high for myself in a world full
of colleges dominated by predominantly white scholars and low expectations for students of color.

Arguments For Attending College Essay
College. The first thing that probably entered your mind was an image of young adults walking
across a green campus while carrying books and chatting with fellow peers. They're smiling and are
calm talking blissfully about their futures. This idealistic view is something that only a few people
will achieve while others time at college will be one of stree and anxiety in preparation of becoming
an adult. In the United States, college is seen as a sort of rite of passage to adulthood. However in
recent years, this goal of attending college is becoming harder and harder to achieve. Depending on
what you hope to gain from a college experience the cost of what it is to attend is not worth it. As
individuals develop to become their own providers, many are faced with the decision ... Show more

Alternatively there are some who attend college for the sole purpose of receiving a well–rounded
education. Ruth argues that "a successful liberal arts education develops the capacity for innovation
and for judgement." These are arguable good skills to have, however different people have different
priorities. Some may just want a job where they learn with their hands and do not have to have
much thought going on to accomplish those goals. For them college would be an illogical decision
which would cause an unnecessary financial burden. The biggest argument for attending college
today is that with a college degree you can get better jobs and better pay than without. According to
the chart, college graduates make an average substantially higher than those without a college
education. However these figures are averages and there will be data that skews the graph. Some
graduates would even make less than what the chart says. In this case, the type of a job a person
would have makes a big deal. Those with lower paying jobs would have benefitted from not

him or her healthier later on into his or her life. College can be considered a community where
many people can go to not only learn, but to make life–changing relationships. People who go to
college find it easier to get their foot in the door in a career of their choice due to the immense

Pros And Cons Of Attending College
Attending college or a university to continue an education after high school, determines what your
future will look like depending on how successful you become. Financial Aid, scholarships and the
support from those surrounding you are all importants things that raise the possibility of attending
school after high school. While some are fortunate enough to afford a full education after
graduating, other aren't so lucky. According to an article written by Alia Wong on January 11, 2016,
"the latest national data demonstrates how more students are getting their high–school diplomas
more than ever before. But that doesn't mean students are going to college. Recently released
numbers out of the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center suggests that college–
enrollment rates have actually decreased". Attending college enhances the chance of employment
for an individual while offering skills and new opportunities for future usage. However, receiving
such education has a cost along with living and school supply expenses that not all students can
afford. Over the decades, statistics have shown that the cost of higher education is only rising, not
only does this make it make it much more challenging for many, but it leads to an unstable future.
For this reason, college should be free for everyone and it shouldn't prevent students from receiving
a higher education. The topic of weather college should be free or not has been argued over the
years and there are many pros and

Graduation Speech On Attending College
Attending college can be one of the biggest decisions in a person's life. Admittedly, one of the
biggest factors in attending college is typically finances. All student must consider where the money
for tuition will come from and any debt that may be incurred in relation to his or her schooling.
Some student's families pay their tuition, while others need to pay for school themselves. Sure, there
are grants and scholarships that a person can receive but they usually do not cover all the cost of
attending college. Because of this, some self–paying students will need to finance at least part of
their education. Students who need to finance their own education will also generally need to work
while pursuing a degree. Besides the financial worries, a student needs to also consider the
challenges in balancing the demands of work, family life and the course work in classes.
When a student must work while attending school, finding a balance between work and school can
be one of the greatest challenges. While a person's employer may applaud them for attending school
and working, the employer will still expect the employee to meet all the demands of the job. At the
same time, colleges have their own opinions on working while attending school such as "Oxford
and Cambridge universities both strongly discourage students from taking jobs during their short
terms, arguing that their academic work will be severely disrupted if they do (Fazackerley 26)."
Maybe this is because they know

Why Attending College Necessary?
Is college necessary? Plenty of individuals would answer yes to this question. People believe
without a college education a person cannot live a stable life and provide for themselves. However,
that is not the case. Attending college is not necessary since all jobs do not require a college
education, some people are just not academically prepared, and college is expensive. One reason
why college is not necessary is because all jobs do not require a college education. There are several
jobs that pay well without a degree (Five). If people do not need to attend college to do what they
love or bring in income then why waste time and money? A numerous amount people already
possess specific skills that transfer well into careers without degrees (Five) . Some people could
start at the bottom of a company and work their way up, while some may advance into a family
business and learn from hands–on experience (Five). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Attending college is a vast commitment, and if people aren't prepared then why waste time when
they could be doing something productive? If someone who is not academically prepared decides to

Lastly, attending college is expensive. The average 2014–2015 tuition and fees of a public four–year
in–state college was $9,139 and $31,231 for a private nonprofit four– year school, which doesn't
even include room and board (Five). After the individual leaves college, he/she has to pay student

The Importance Of Attending A Christian College
As a child, I grew up going to church every Sunday and being involved with the church community.
My faith is a large part of who I am today, because as a Christian, my worldview is based around
God and His word. I believe He created everything in the universe, including us, and that He wants
us to be with Him for eternity. So throughout my college search, Christian colleges have been at the
top of my list.
Attending a Christian college would allow me to be surrounded by others who share my faith and
will continually point me back to Christ. This would help me to grow in my relationship with God
and further develop and strengthen my beliefs, since the people and community a person surrounds
themself with can have a considerable impact on his

Attending College Expenses

  • 1. Attending College Expenses There are many expenses that come along with attending college. Since I come from a low income family I plan to make the most out of all of the financial help I can get. I never have had to worry about paying for my education before, but now that I do I have began to think of different ways to attain money for a higher education. In fear of graduating with huge student debt, taking out loans was not part of my plans. Despite my fear, after thoroughly looking over my financial award letters I think that I might have to rethink this and make loans a viable option. I have also never had to become employed to pay for my education. However, I plan to do a work study, at the university that I end up attending, in order to fill the financial gap. ... I was somewhat surprised, but his decision did not catch me completely off guard. We had discussed the topic before and he mentioned his consideration to not attend college after he graduated from high school. He believed that even though he would probably enjoy going to college and learning new information, college was not the best option for him. This becomes a problem to an individual if they choose not to attend college and try to enter the workforce right out of high school, or attend college only to later decide it is not working for them and, consequently, end up dropping out of college, possibly accumulating thousands of dollars in student loan debts but no degree. According to the U.S Census bureau, a "Bachelor's Degree holder earns twice as much in a lifetime as a high school graduate". Even better, there are more job options available to choose from, instead of having limited places in the workforce to work for owing to the fact that we never attended college. Although, not everybody may have the opportunity to attend college at some point, but when opportunity strikes, it can't be thrown away. In my opinion, not a lot people will see it this way as "I don't have to attend college to have a better future, I have a good job so I'm happy", but then again more doors will be open, more opportunities and a better way to live life as long as you attend college and get a degree. Many people choose whether or not to attend college, not all of them didn't get the opportunity to go but some of them just decided to throw that opportunity away and mess up their lives. For the reasons above, there are plenty of other benefits of attending college, but in my opinion the main are: it will increase our earning potential, our knowledge, and gives us a better chance to have a better future. After much consideration, I decided to make College of the Ozarks my top priority when applying to colleges. The atmosphere of the college, the perfect distance from home, and the opportunity to work for my education were all major factors when making this decision. I had attended private Christian schools for most of my life, so the small campus and Christian values of College of the Ozarks appealed to me much more than the chaotic partying ways of a larger university. I knew if I attended College of the Ozarks, many of my classes would be more difficult than at a public university; however, I saw the difficult classes as an opportunity to learn more, which I believed would help me later in life. On the one hand, some people argue that a college education is the only way to succeed in life. On the other hand, some people contend that going to college isn't worth it in the long run, and that you will only put yourself in a huge amount of debt. My view is that college although costly, will have a much greater pay out than not having a degree. What most people don't consider is that generally the students who graduate with high amounts of debt also graduate with higher degrees such as a masters or higher. This is an important fact because that means that those students will more than likely make quite a bit more income than the average undergrad. In fact, according to a report from, The University of Georgetown's Center on Education and the Workforce, the average master's degree will earn you one million more dollars over that of a bachelors and a doctorate will earn you an average of two million more in a lifetime. When questioned about why student debt is so much higher for grad school graduates over undergrads, Jason Delisle, director of the Federal Education Budget Project at New America, said, "Well, graduate school isn't college. When people say 'college,' you're thinking two–year, usually four–year degrees, but they're definitely not thinking masters of arts." What Delisle meant by this is that like I stated earlier, Grad schools are a much higher level of education and will also yield a lot more income. • 13. Should Attending A Private College? Imagine a student making one decision involving college and having this choice dictate the rest of their life as well as be the deciding factor as to where they will receive a job. Seniors in high school face this difficult and often stressful decision to choose the right college. This is a confusing time for numerous students, because selecting the perfect college involves more than just money. While there are differing opinions revolving around the topic of college price, many people promote students to attend public colleges as they can learn the same skills and gain the same degree for a cheaper price. This is a false claim because students are not considering other factors, such as does the college offer an environment for the student to prosper and thrive and the ability to make the right connections? Students should consider attending a prestigious, private college because this is where they will receive the best education, employment benefits, and opportunities. Attending a private college increases a student's chance of earning a higher paying job because employers not only value a degree but also where a person earned that diploma from. Private colleges are independent schools funded privately through a variety of sources. Public colleges, on the other hand, are public schools funded by the government. All of the following articles support the idea I propose. Looking at the amount of students taking remedial courses once they enter a post–secondary institution can show proof of the lack of preparation. Instead of building upon the knowledge they have already gained from high school, they now have to participate in remedial courses that will refresh the basics.
