Innovative Sustainable Store Design Proposal 1. Introduction In today's dynamic and competitive world
many retailers have initiated to develop their stores as a brand, therefore creativity and sustainability can be
important organizational resource and a desirable approach to differentiate from other competitors. The
―store as brand‖ and retail branding is emerging as one of the most important strategic initiatives in the
modern retail industry specially in United States and Europe (Carpenter et al, 2005, pp.43–53). Better
customers experience has become center of attention for the retailers, which have made retailers to focus on
the store design and improving the retail environment. Consumers' perceptions of store image and shopping

Retailers should spend a great deal of time and money on store environments to create images that offer them
a competitive advantage in a crowded marketplace (Joyce & Lambert, 1996 , pp.24–33). Thus, store needs to
improve in this area so that it can give better environment and experience to the customers in order to
differentiate from the competitors. As per Kerfoot et al (2003, pp.14352) as furniture being a part of visual
merchandising, an attractive furniture has positive affect on customer's psychology or behavior, which
ultimately leads to purchase. By evaluating the Retail Branding and Innovation Page 2 Innovative

design is developed by designing display shelves, fixtures and the store interior made up of stainless steel,
glass and using sustainably grown solid wood or plywood covered all surfaces and edges with laminates or
seal them with low emitting paint or varnish to reduce emissions of VOC, which are more attractive and
sustainable then present wooden furniture. To give an idea how store interior will look a picture is placed in
the appendix–A/VI (Pg.16). Sustainability features are given in appendix–A/II (Pg.12). 2.1.3 Experience

It was this strategy of having the lowest prices in town that has set Wal–Mart apart from all competitors. The
company has stuck to the vision of Sam Walton by offering the lowest prices to the consumers in the retail
industry.
Best Buy–Joint Venture
Many businesses and organizations may decide to form a joint venture. A joint venture involves establishing
a third company (child), operated for the benefit of the co–owners (parents) (Pearce & Robinson, 2004).
There have been many successful joint ventures among many businesses. Best Buy announced that they
would be strategically forming a joint venture with Britain's cellphone retailer, Carphone warehouse. The
CEO of Best Buy stated that the joint venture between the two companies would be a financial gain for the
company in the European market. This merger between the two companies are said to be a major factor that
will differentiate the company from the competition (Washington Post, 2008).
Wal–Mart decided to form a joint venture with Bharti Enterprises, a joint venture for wholesale cash–and–
carry and back–end supply chain management operations in India, in line with Government of India
guidelines. This venture promises to bring great value to millions of farmers, artisans, small manufacturers
and retailers across India. We are pleased to be a partner in developing this sector which is set to become a

Frank Addante Case
1. Entrepreneurial Motivation Frank Addante got his motivation to work from financing his college life in the
first years. He worked on his own, sold and installed car alarms and automatic starters. From this time on he
continued to earn money through ad–hoc jobs to make his way through college, but he was always conscious
for good ideas, which he could transform into businesses. This chance was given when he installed some
high–speed communication lines for an office where two mar–keting companies had their headquarters.
When the owners of the two companies were argu–ing about any new ideas, they came up with a "search
engine" for the internet. Addante was listening to them and came up with his own interpretation of the

Another thing that could be seen as a motivation of founding the venture was Frank's idea of forming a
"Dream Team" for the marketing and technology sections. But Zondigo could not satisfy all of Addante's
motiva–tions of founding ventures because the fast growth of Zondigo was averted by missing outside
funding. This problem was caused by several changes in the business plan. Addante had to adjust his ideas
and adapt them to the investment community. After he finally received out–side funding he realized that there
was no market for his idea so he returned the funding to his investors. Frank Addante founded his fifth
venture together with Tim McQuillen. Again he had the mo–tivation of creating a business out of a new idea
but this time Addante made sure that there is a market for his products. With reference to Frank Addante's
motivation of holding equity it can be said that he decided to keep himself motivated with an adequate stake
of the venture's equity. Firstly, Addante did not want to run his "Strong Mail" venture as the CEO because he
wanted to concentrate on the holding company he had created before he founded "Strong Mail". But after
Frank detected a strong market for "Strong Mail's" products he felt that he needed to jump in and lead the
company. He also felt the motivation of working together with his friend and former employee Tim
McQuillen, with whom Addante had worked together well in his former ventures.

Hordes of private equity professionals, venture capitalists and investment bankers are making a beeline to
identify lucrative business opportunities in India. Some of the profitable exits announced on the global
private equity stage, the arrival of the Indian market as a hot destination with immense potential for private
equity funds, and its readiness to embrace the global private equity with open arms. Today, some of the
world's leading private equity firms like Blackstone Group, Carlyle Group and General Atlantic Partners, and
Actis Partners are firmly established in India. Some of the Indian firms like ICICI, IDFC and Kotak are also
increasing their investments. And many new foreign PE funds like Lightspeed Venture Partners, Providence
Equity Partners and Apex Venture Partners are planning to venture into India. Coming to the global picture
global trends show that the private equity (PE) industry was once dominated by North America but recent
years have seen global emergence of the industry. US still contributes a two–thirds of the total funds raised
globally and it does not seem to be changing in the near future. However, an interesting fact is that the
proportion of the investment going back to US is gradually decreasing every year. Till the last few years,
almost 60% funds were invested back in US with only 25% going to Europe and remaining landing in Asia
Pacific. But the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Joint Venture
0 Introduction
A joint venture (JV) means; "An enterprise, co–operation or partnership, formed by two or more companies,
individuals, or organizations, at least one of whom is an operating entity that wishes to broaden its activities
for the purpose of conducting a new, profit motivated business of permanent duration. Some researchers such
as Adnan and Morledge (2003) define joint ventures as the procedure used to respond to specific business
phenomena such as access to new markets, specific government policy, business capacity, technology
transfer or economies of scale. In general the ownership is shared by the participants with more or less equal
equity distribution and without absolute dominance by one party." This entity is subject to the joint control of
its parent firms, each of which is economically and legally independent of the other (Shenkar, Zeira, 1987).

Each member is taken for specific scope of work and is responsible for the profit or losses associated with
that scope of work .Each member is solely responsible for the resources necessary to perform its specified
scope of work. The advantage of this type of joint venture is that for the contractor entering in to the joint
venture, each can complement the others skills. But the disadvantage is that some contractors have put more
efforts than others, thus leading to internal conflicts (kale et al. 2005). This type of joint venture is used in
projects where total work can be divided in to different sections. These sections can be subcontracted out to
separate partners, who are responsible for technical and administrative element of those sections. They
typically require limited relationship between parties and are used in linear projects with distinct work scope

The fourth site was Pasadena in 1993 which was more challenging due to its further location and was not an
immediate success. Gordon Biersch attributed the sluggish start of this site to the low visibility of the
location. However, this did not stop them from moving forward and in November 1994 Gordon Biersch
opened in Honolulu which quickly became the top–grossing restaurant in Hawaii. The next project was
bottling Gordon Biersch signature beer and retailing it. This had three biggest challenges: this project was
entirely Gordon's baby and demanded time and attention; secondly the freshness of the bottled beer versus
the freshly brewed was an issue for which they decided the beer would have a shelf life no longer than three
months. Thirdly and the most exciting challenge was the head–to–head competition with other
microbreweries and premium beers. Despite the tough competitive environment, Gordon Biersch aimed to
achieve 11% of the market in three years (by 1996). This retail venture required huge investment, thus they
decided to start small to prove to the investors that they could pull it off. Gordon Biersch had extensive
growth plans of opening over 100 restaurants across the nation with in 8 to 10 years. However, the growth
they envisioned demanded a lot of time, dedication and expertise. They debated upon three different

In a world where we can find identical merchandise in more than one store, layout and presentation become
key differentiating factors. Create Your Store for Your Target Customer You can have the most unique,
creative and different store on the planet, but if doesn 't conform to what your customers want and expect,
then it is of no value. Retail has always been, and will always be, about the consumer. Your entire store
concept must be built around your target customer. Succeed at satisfying this shopper and you win the game.
Build and design a store that looks beautiful but doesn 't fit the marketplace and the only people who will be
happy are the architect and contractors. Take a Strategic Approach Unfortunately, the days of running a
traditional "Ma and Pa" operation, lacking any real business sophistication, are long gone. A haphazard
approach to store layout generates less than desired results. You must squeeze every ounce of potential out of
your store to make it a winner. How you present your store is a very strategic part of your business. In order
to position every item in its proper location, you must have a far more detailed plan than the usual "It was the
only place left available, so that 's where it ended up!" Give your best–selling merchandise the most
favourable display areas in your store. There 's no point in making the job of selling products any more

Visual Merchandising in Retail
Visual Merchandising in Retail For this assignment I have been asked to describe how visual merchandising
is applied to the three selected retail outlets to an identified range of goods. Store one–Tesco Merchandising
techniques In Tesco the merchandising techniques they use are: –Senses. A supermarket like Tesco would use
this technique to try and bring more customers into the store by using smell, sight, sound and taste. They
would play music to try and attract people into the store, and they would also have staff at the front of the
store offering free samples to customers to try to try and persuade them to buy the product. They would use
lighting for an example for sight as it would draw customers to come into the store to ... Show more content

This technique influences customers to buy the products as they are usually by the tills and are sometimes on
special offer. Sales and discounts: – Tesco uses this technique because it will influence more people buy the
product as it is cheaper. This is very appealing for the customer as it provides a quick route for those who are
shopping for bargains. This also keeps the customers looking at different parts of the store as this link leads
to the display of many of their products. Sales and discounts can encourage so–called "trial and repeat"
purchases. Retailers can use special offers such as buy–one–get–one offers. Coupons are another way to
encourage purchases by offering discounts on products. Free gifts with purchase also encourage customers to
purchase products and increase sales. Sales whether advertised in the store, online, in newspapers or via
some other medium will help get customers into the store. Retailers can place sales signs in window displays
as an incentive for customers to shop. Store two–Volkswagen car dealer One of the merchandising techniques
Volkswagen use is lighting, they use this as one of their techniques to make certain cars look more appealing
to the customers, and to also make the car look of a higher quality. Another reason they use lighting in the
showroom is to make the car stand out more, and make the customers

A store in a Victorian brownstone building, for example, will exude images associated with the building ' s
architectural era, such as cozy, tastefully cluttered and comfortable. If your exterior architecture is not
projecting the right image, consider painting or re–facing the storefront, adding or removing some
architectural elements in keeping with your image, or consulting a designer to totally re–engineer the
storefront. The Store Sign The store sign is a vital element of the storefront, identifying your store and
beckoning the customer to take notice and stop. In realizing the value of a strong storefront sign, many
retailers are employing new design techniques which include projecting or cantilevering the store sign
beyond the lease line, adding motion, or using three–dimensional lettering and unique lighting applications to
add depth to the sign. If your storefront sign is losing the battle for visual dominance among neighbouring
stores, consider re–painting it or adding more colour, making it bigger and bolder, incorporating your
trademark, using new, more contemporary materials to create your sign, and/or adding motion or lighting.
Store Windows A store 's exterior windows or glass storefront provide an additional opportunity to reach out
and grab the passing customer. Windows are integral in creating a positive impression since they offer an
opportunity to begin telling your store 's unique merchandise story immediately. Many

Market entry mode is to create the possibility by arranging company's products, technology, human skills,

The Goals And Philosophy Of Art
Goals and Philosophy:
Visual Merchandisers have many employment options available in many different sectors. I believe that
displays are all encompassing. It is the little details that culminate a theme or feel that makes customers want
to shop at a particular store and have a certain type of experience depending on who they are. It is all about
making an environment whether a store, a party, a home, etc. as inviting and welcoming as possible. I
strongly believe that there is so much inspiration out there that can be used to create compelling store
displays that provoke consumers to shop and help maximize a store's profits. This is an interesting field
where not only are artistic skills necessary, but also the ability to merchandise the sales floor and make every
visual aspect of a store experience enjoyable.
My art is inspired by popular culture, the work of other artists in similar fields, and the work of surrealist
artists. The prospect of being able to have a job that comprises of creativity and a unique perspective
motivates me to pursue a career in art and design. I want to be able to have a job that I feel is rewarding and

Abstract
Compulsive shopping or Oniomania is considered as impulsive control disorder, or an obsessive compulsive
disorder (also referred as overspending, shopping addiction, shopaholic or compulsive buying) (Walker and
Company, 2008). Compulsive shoppers experience a raise and a boost when making purchases. Frequently,
they need to feel better when working against any feeling of depression, low self–esteem, and loneliness they
encounter. The purchase brings a momentary joy and excitement much like the gambler feels when putting
his bet. Purchases can be seen like a symbol for the person's ideal self. According ... Show more content on

Producers are excited to come up with new designs such as futuristic clothes and multipurpose hand phones,
whereas marketers want to make sure that those products can be sold with gaining higher returns. They use
many possible strategies and tactics in order to attract and attain customers. Sales promotion is one of these
famous tactics. Posters and banners are everywhere during sales, and advertising launched in the radio and
televisions to attract local and foreign customers. In addition, for those who cannot afford to shop, financial
institutions are taking advantages also by offering various type of credit card and charge high interest for it.
These tactics can be the reason for costumers to shop more and it will induce them to buy unnecessary items.

Business School At Washington University Essay
Describe your interest in entrepreneurship. Please include any past experiences in innovation and
entrepreneurship:
Ever since I was a young child I always wanted to create the next newest and biggest invention. For example,
when I found out the creator of Jibits for crocs (those small plastic accessories that go into the holes of crocs
sold her company to crocs for millions of dollars. It was such a simple idea, but also so creative and
innovative. I was hooked on the idea of creating a product and starting my own company from that point
forward.
While I have not had any success yet in creating my own company, I hope to in the future. This past summer
I studied abroad in Israel through Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis program. This
program, Israel Summer Business Academy was a six–week program focused entrepreneurship and
innovation. While in Israel, we took classes from both American and Israeli professors. Within groups during
the second half of the program, we created a product to pitch to the rest of the class. This pitch had to include
a minimum viable product, budget decisions and adverting decisions among a multitude of things. While we
were creating our own products, we visited various Israeli startup companies like wix.com or ReWalk. We
also visited incubators and venture capital firms that fund various startups in Israel. Being that Israel is
known as the start up capital of the world, it allowed me throughout the summer to fully

A virtuous circle. And BT will also use it to pay dividends to its shareholders and reward other stakeholders
[BT Report. 2017].
BT strategy is founded on broadening and deepening its customer relationships.
To deliver sustainable profitable revenue growth, BT needs stronger relationships with its customers. That
means making sure the company stay relevant to them as markets, lifestyles and technologies change.
The three pillars of BT's strategy help the company to do that: delivering superior customer service;
transforming our costs; and investing for growth. The better our customer service, the more the company
sells and the less time and money is spend in putting things right. And the better the company manages its
costs, the better value for money BT can offer to its customers and the more it invest in giving customers
what they need – today and tomorrow. These are the principles that drive BT business model [BT Report.

For 2017/18 BT's strategy is evolving. The three pillars remain broadly the same but with a wider focus on
the overall customer experience rather than just on customer service. And with the acquisition of EE limited,
the company's investment areas are evolving to focus on having the best integrated network in the UK and

The Private Market And Venture Capitalist
Mr. Whitney presented enlightening information regarding entrepreneurship, why it is important and how the
private market or venture capitalist are so important in investing in entrepreneurs. Venture capital is changing
the global economy as banks are not investing in businesses anymore other than lending funds. Wealth
creation has changed due to the internet and today wealth creation is out pacing the wealth created by
inheritance (M. Whitney, personal communication, May 21, 2016). An axiom from Mr. Whitney's company
is networks create and disrupt net worth. As explained, networks bind things together, but they take away
somewhere else. This can be illustrated in the railroad industry. The railroad created a network, which tied
the east and west coast together, facilitating travel and movement of goods from coast to coast. However, the
railroad industry disrupted net worth of the horse and buggy industry, as this mode of transportation was
replaced. It is typical for organizations to follow a common business model within an industry but, if you
assume that there is only one business model, then your organization gets disrupted and you are blindsided.
Another idea presented was retail is a good indicator of market shifts, with three big trends portrayed in retail
that is extended to every industry as a predictive indicator. One of these trends is consolidation, which we see
companies buying up companies, therefore the customer base is getting smaller. This

Company Overview According to the MarketLine analysis (2016), American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (AEO)
was founded in 1977 by a company called Retail Ventures originally named Silvermans Menswear, Inc.
When AEO was launched in 1977, it was part of the Silvermans Menswear, Inc. The two brothers that were
part of the founding of American Eagle, Jerry and Mark Silverman, decided that they needed to continue
growing their company by opening more than one store. They opened the first American Eagle store in 1977
and sold brand–name apparel, shoes, and accessories for men and women (American Eagle Outfitters). A few
years later in 1980, due to some financial troubles, Retail Ventures sold 50% of the company to the
Schottenstein family who would then have full ownership of the company by 1991 (2016). After the purchase

Because of the lack of advertising AE has experienced a loss of fashion sales in the recent years. The store
needs to reach out to its target market by providing more commercial or doing more promotional work.
American Eagle is challenged with determining what trends are appropriate for its customers and how to

today's relationship marketing it is no more enough to track the experiences of your customers and learn
about them. It is about enriching every interaction you have with your customers by welcome calls, helpdesk,
customer service setup support, complete customer care, complaint handling, win–back programs.
FNB should also try to engage their student market with educational yet fun and interactive games and
problem–solving through social media sites and mobile applications. The student market is generally prone to
participate in fun and rewarding competitions. FNB could attract the student market by teaming up with

to achieve competitive advantages in an organization. It has been stated in researches that the competitive
advantages of an organization are specific to a country and "the value chain are a reflection of its history, its
strategy, its approach to implementing its strategy and the underlying economics of the activities themselves"
(Porter, 1986, 1985). Since ANZ has its business located in several countries, value configuration will be a

The Communication of Window Displays
The Communication of Window Display Armani Exchange
Word count: 1240
'Windows reveal the soul of the store' (Portas, 1999: 41). Every store has its own concept that characterizes
each display, varying from theatre, drama or in the case of Armani Exchange minimalism. Well–dressed
windows are undoubtedly, a dynamic form of advertising for products reflecting the stores' brand image. This
essay seeks to evaluate how A|X Armani Exchange's window displays communicate to spectators with the
use of various resources. Armani Exchange is one of the sub–brands under the parental brand of Giorgio

However silver and gold details on the garments complement the black shades, making the pieces more
youthful. A downside of open windows is that high–priced items showcased can be tampered if somebody
wishes to feel the fabric, so they are trickier to dress. Besides that another negative aspect is that windows are
not as creative since there are fewer props. Hence there is no story to tell. Silhouettes are simple yet
authoritative and influential.
Effective windows can 'seduce' (Portas, 2007: 54) you to purchase something you did not intend to. Buying
even a small item, one satisfies a need, a want to feel more contented and self–confident. Also, what you
wear is what defines you, reflecting your personality– as implied by Berger (1972). Windows can sway
someone into investing in a garment that will make them enviable and glamorous at the same time. 'The
power to spent money is the power to live' (Berger, 1972: 143), implying that each person interprets the
world differently– the same applies in window displays.
Armani Exchange has a very clean approach of "less is more" by not overloading its windows together with
being "strong and simple" emphasizing the brand's power (http://ezinearticles.com, 2010). Furthermore, by
following the "fresh is best" principle in accordance with Berger (1972), they renew their displays every
week thus regular customers find new stock in every visit. Still though, A|X receives deliveries every 3–4
days so that monotony is avoided. For

Literature Review: Layout And Ambiance Of A Department Store
2. LITERATURE REVIEW 2.1 Layout and ambiance of a department store.
The visual appearance of the store frontage, window displays, and overall outlook facilitate the consumers to
form rapid impressions about a store. It is a method and technique which allows them to determine whether
they would want to enter a store or not. A customer's analysis is clearly the deciding factor for their actions.
After all, they can walk pass the store, in case they are not impressed with the way merchandises which are
displayed in the window front. If the first step isn't cleared then the second step is to unlikely proceed. This

It has high–ended brands greeting you from its window; clearly stating that it offers expensive designers
targeting big money for each product. All of these factors also play an important role in helping a
customer/passerby realize that this is not an ordinary shopping mall where one can't step in as a bargain–
hunger. Even the restaurants and theater are designed very lavishly (Gibson 2015).A consumers uses the
window displays to their advantage in order to gain knowledge about the brands that a store has to offer and
the styles of outfits displayed on a mannequin. They can further gain an idea about the pricing and quality.
Judging a product through its look is simply a way of attaining some vague idea of what the quality may be
like. These elements help minimize the consumers effort. Their search is simplified; eventually it can save up
a lot of their time (Payne et al. 1992; Sen et al. 2002).Creativity plays an important role in window dressing.
It is the image of the store. A display should be designed like a magnet in order to be able to attract its

KEY TERM and WHY YOU ARE INTERESTED IN IT This academic paper will be exploring the key term,
joint ventures. This concept is of interest because in today's business environment due to the economy
downfall, many organizations recourse to this strategy in order to easily infiltrate in a foreign market.
Companies are seeking more opportunities to expand their market share and a joint venture is an attractive
option to do so. Getting involved with a foreign market come with several obstacles and challenges. It is for
the same reason that organizations engage in a joint venture whit a partner that knows and understand the
culture and preferences of that specific nation.
EXPLANATION OF THE KEY TERM "Join ventures usually involve an alliance where two or more
companies contribute assets, which results in the formation of a new legal entity" (Satterlee, 2014, p. 228).
Whit this strategy companies can do business in international markets but have a partner that will ease the
process by helping with the start–up and management of the new corporation. Organizations will be able to
compete in a foreign market in a cost–effective and successful way. This strategy can increase the profit of an
organization, however, if effective planning is not incorporated, it can be a major failure that will result in
profit loss.

The Emergence of Surf Music Essays
The Emergence of Surf Music
Many different music styles emerged during the early 1960's. One of these music styles that was perhaps the
most prominent music style to ever come out of Southern California was Surf Music. Surf music was a
short–lived phenomenon that occurred from 1961 to 1965 (Nostalgia, 2002). Along with the surf music craze,
Hollywood also started producing numerous movies about surfing, including Gidget, and Endless Summer
(St. James Encyclopedia, 2003 and Nostalgia, 2002). These movies had some amazing soundtracks that
helped popularize the surf music phenomenon. There are two different forms of surf music; instrumental and
vocal (Holm, 1998 and St. James Encyclopedia, 2003). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, let's start with the innovator of surf music and the king of the surf guitar; Dick Dale. Dick was
originally from Boston, but he moved to Southern California when he was seventeen (Wikipedia, 2003).
While in California, he became popular for his country guitar playing. At the same time, he was spending a
lot of time with the surfers on the beaches in California. He immediately became intrigued by the spirit of the
surf culture, and the splendor of the ocean waves. He began experimenting with his music, trying to capture
the rhythm and sounds of the ocean. He formed the group Dick Dale and the Del–tones in 1961 (Wikipedia,
2003 and Bettenville). His live performances became a huge local draw, and his double picking guitar style
was admired by many (even Leo Fender who asked him to test some of his new amplifier prototypes with the
notion that if his amplifiers could survive Dick Dale's playing, they could survive anything) (Bettenville). At
the end of 1961, he released his first single, "Let's Go Trippin'," which is considered to be the first surf rock
recording (St. James Encyclopedia, 2003). He followed that recording with a few more locally–released
songs, including "Jungle Fever" and "Surf Beat"

Introduction In today's dynamic and competitive world many retailers have initiated to develop their stores as a brand, therefore creativity and sustainability can be important organizational resource and a desirable approach to differentiate from other competitors. The ―store as brand‖ and retail branding is emerging as one of the most important strategic initiatives in the modern retail industry specially in United States and Europe (Carpenter et al, 2005, pp.43–53). Better customers experience has become center of attention for the retailers, which have made retailers to focus on the store design and improving the retail environment. Retailers should spend a great deal of time and money on store environments to create images that offer them a competitive advantage in a crowded marketplace (Joyce & Lambert, 1996 , pp.24–33). Thus, store needs to improve in this area so that it can give better environment and experience to the customers in order to differentiate from the competitors. As per Kerfoot et al (2003, pp.14352) as furniture being a part of visual merchandising, an attractive furniture has positive affect on customer's psychology or behavior, which ultimately leads to purchase. He worked on his own, sold and installed car alarms and automatic starters. From this time on he continued to earn money through ad–hoc jobs to make his way through college, but he was always conscious for good ideas, which he could transform into businesses. This chance was given when he installed some high–speed communication lines for an office where two mar–keting companies had their headquarters. When the owners of the two companies were argu–ing about any new ideas, they came up with a "search engine" for the internet. Another thing that could be seen as a motivation of founding the venture was Frank's idea of forming a "Dream Team" for the marketing and technology sections. But Zondigo could not satisfy all of Addante's motiva–tions of founding ventures because the fast growth of Zondigo was averted by missing outside funding. This problem was caused by several changes in the business plan. Addante had to adjust his ideas and adapt them to the investment community. After he finally received out–side funding he realized that there was no market for his idea so he returned the funding to his investors. Frank Addante founded his fifth venture together with Tim McQuillen. Again he had the mo–tivation of creating a business out of a new idea but this time Addante made sure that there is a market for his products. With reference to Frank Addante's motivation of holding equity it can be said that he decided to keep himself motivated with an adequate stake of the venture's equity. Firstly, Addante did not want to run his "Strong Mail" venture as the CEO because he wanted to concentrate on the holding company he had created before he founded "Strong Mail". But after Frank detected a strong market for "Strong Mail's" products he felt that he needed to jump in and lead the company. He also felt the motivation of working together with his friend and former employee Tim McQuillen, with whom Addante had worked together well in his former ventures. ... The fourth site was Pasadena in 1993 which was more challenging due to its further location and was not an immediate success. Gordon Biersch attributed the sluggish start of this site to the low visibility of the location. However, this did not stop them from moving forward and in November 1994 Gordon Biersch opened in Honolulu which quickly became the top–grossing restaurant in Hawaii. The next project was bottling Gordon Biersch signature beer and retailing it. This had three biggest challenges: this project was entirely Gordon's baby and demanded time and attention; secondly the freshness of the bottled beer versus the freshly brewed was an issue for which they decided the beer would have a shelf life no longer than three months. Thirdly and the most exciting challenge was the head–to–head competition with other microbreweries and premium beers. Despite the tough competitive environment, Gordon Biersch aimed to achieve 11% of the market in three years (by 1996). This retail venture required huge investment, thus they decided to start small to prove to the investors that they could pull it off. Gordon Biersch had extensive growth plans of opening over 100 restaurants across the nation with in 8 to 10 years. It is the little details that culminate a theme or feel that makes customers want to shop at a particular store and have a certain type of experience depending on who they are. It is all about making an environment whether a store, a party, a home, etc. as inviting and welcoming as possible. I strongly believe that there is so much inspiration out there that can be used to create compelling store displays that provoke consumers to shop and help maximize a store's profits. This is an interesting field where not only are artistic skills necessary, but also the ability to merchandise the sales floor and make every visual aspect of a store experience enjoyable. My art is inspired by popular culture, the work of other artists in similar fields, and the work of surrealist artists. The prospect of being able to have a job that comprises of creativity and a unique perspective motivates me to pursue a career in art and design. The Private Market And Venture Capitalist Mr. Whitney presented enlightening information regarding entrepreneurship, why it is important and how the private market or venture capitalist are so important in investing in entrepreneurs. Venture capital is changing the global economy as banks are not investing in businesses anymore other than lending funds. Wealth creation has changed due to the internet and today wealth creation is out pacing the wealth created by inheritance (M. Whitney, personal communication, May 21, 2016). An axiom from Mr. Whitney's company is networks create and disrupt net worth. As explained, networks bind things together, but they take away somewhere else. This can be illustrated in the railroad industry. The railroad created a network, which tied the east and west coast together, facilitating travel and movement of goods from coast to coast. However, the railroad industry disrupted net worth of the horse and buggy industry, as this mode of transportation was replaced. It is typical for organizations to follow a common business model within an industry but, if you assume that there is only one business model, then your organization gets disrupted and you are blindsided. Another idea presented was retail is a good indicator of market shifts, with three big trends portrayed in retail that is extended to every industry as a predictive indicator. One of these trends is consolidation, which we see companies buying up companies, therefore the customer base is getting smaller. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

'The power to spent money is the power to live' (Berger, 1972: 143), implying that each person interprets the world differently– the same applies in window displays. Armani Exchange has a very clean approach of "less is more" by not overloading its windows together with being "strong and simple" emphasizing the brand's power (http://ezinearticles.com, 2010). Furthermore, by following the "fresh is best" principle in accordance with Berger (1972), they renew their displays every week thus regular customers find new stock in every visit.
