Families and friends gathered to witness 100 students be inducted into the Elgin High School chapter
of the National Honor Society (NHS) in a ceremony at the school Thursday evening.
The inductees consisted of incoming juniors and seniors who met the chapter's eligibility
requirements for membership. Students must carry a 3.4 grade point average (GPA) or higher,
demonstrate the qualities of character, leadership, and service, and not have any disciplinary
referrals during the current or previous school years to qualify.
Once it is determined that an applicant has met the requirements for membership, their application is
reviewed again by a committee of faculty members before an invitation for induction is extended.
