2. Previous Research
I have already conducted research into titles that horror movies use
and this has helped me to receive the understand of the sort of titles
that films use the style and font in which they present them as. In
horrors the titles seen normally are to help to develop the narrative
further and they also prompt a lot of question to the viewer to ‘spook’
them and make them scared of the scenes that are about to follow.
This means that I have to use titles that are similar to this and create
the same effect on my audience. They are also used to state the film
name and the actors within it and the title of release and these are
important to allow the audience to gain an interest from the teaser
trailer.
3. Titles that have inspired me:
These are a collection of titles that have inspired the look of my titles, I want something that clearly
connotes the genre of horror such as all these titles do by using a lack of colours of using red as it
connotes blood and gore. A lot of the titles have a glow to them so that the titles stand out and this
creates a creepy effect that I want to use on my own. Majority of them have no background or a dark
blue or red mixed with black and they follow the theme of the titles in front. Some titles are still and do
not move and some titles fade in an out or have a glow the moves throughout the title, I want to use
some form of glow or make the letter fade in and out on the screen as I think this will make for an
interesting effect. All titles are either cut to or faded to so this will be an effect I will use to bring the
titles on to the screen.
4. Titles I will use in my teaser
trailer:
“Reality” – The possible name and title of the film, I will use this within the end or
the beginning of film to leave an imprinting lasting memory of the name of the film
so that it sticks in the audiences mind. I will have his title singled out and possible
glowing white against a dark background.
“When dreams become reality” – This is sort of a subheading/slogan to the film, I
feel having a title that is some form of slogan is apparent in a lot of teaser trailer
and it makes the audience relate this slogan to the film and creates a spooky idea
behind as it is evasive.
“Will you risk to dream again?” – I feel to also add in a question the audience, as I
want them to feel fully involved within this teaser trailer so that they get sucked in
and want to watch the film itself. Adding a rhetorical question will also get them
thinking about the film and content they are viewing.
“Reality will be altered forever” – This is sort of a final statement which is dramatic
and makes the audience question as to why the reality will be altered and how and
this therefore intrigues them to find answers to these questions by watching the
film.
“This November” / “November 2016” – I will be using either one of these titles at
the end of the teaser trailer before the final title/name of the film. I am going to be
teasing the audience with a month and a year as to keep them waiting for the
actual date.
