2. First class
• In this first part of the “Colombia experience” we are going to learn a Little bit more
about our country and how it is divided in 6 regions:
• Amazon
• Andean
• Caribbean
• Pacific
• Orinoco
• Island
3. •We must know that every region has special
features reflected in the dialects, traditions, music,
slang, festivities and more. We are going to discover
step by step these characteristics.
4. Pacific Region
- This region is formed by the departments of Choco, Cauca, Valle del Cauca
and Nariño
- It is close to Pacific Ocean.
- They have several festivities such as “Carnaval de negros y blancos” and “Feria
de Cali”.
5. Andean Region
• This Region is formed by the departments of Antioquia, Huila, Santander, Norte de
Santander, Boyaca, Cundianamarca,Tolima,Caldas, Quindio and Risaralda.
• Main festivities in this region are Feria de las flores and Feria de Manizales
• This region has the most of its geography traversed by Andes Mountains
6. Caribbean Region
•This region is formed by the departments of Atlantico, Bolivar, Sucre,
Magdalena, Guajira, Cordoba and Cesar.
• It is close to Caribbean Sea.
• The main celebrations in this región are Carnaval de Barranquilla and Fiestas del mar.
• The cuisine here is one of the most representatives in the country.
7. Orinoco Region
• Meta, Arauca, Vichada and Casanare belong to this region.
• The main characteristic of this region is the enormous quantity of flat land and
cattle.
• Emblematic places are “Rio de los cinco colores” and serranía de la macarena
8. Amazon Region
•This region is formed by Amazonas, Putumayo, Guainia, Guaviare, Vaupes and
Caqueta
•The main feature of this region is the fullness of the Amazon Jungle, the lung
of the world, in all its geography.
•There are lots of fluvial routes, indingeous groups and several wildlife and
vegetation.
9. Island Region
• This region is formed only by San Andres, Providencia and Santa Catalina
• The main feature of this region is the language called Creole that is a mix of english,
spanish and french.
• In this region we can find beautiful beaches and the sea of seven colors.

11. Time to practice…
• The class is going to be divided in six groups, every group is going to be assigned with
a single region, they have to prepare a bazaar with the features worked in the class and
in the blog such as typical food, dialects, slang, festivities and more. The bazaar is
going to be prepared with creativity like a fair where the teacher and some guests are
going to check the work made by students and how it represents the regions.
