RULES FOR THE INTERVIEW
1. You MUST include the following topics in your answers:
Giving advice and making suggestions
Be allowed, be permitted, supposed to
Prepositions
Formal speech
May, might, will, won’t
2. The teacher is going to ask you 8 of the 15 questions randomly.
3. You MUST follow the rubric for the assessment of this activity. Be aware of the
criteria to achieve a good score.
4. Remember that this a mid-term test and YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED to check
your notebook, check your drafts or any other aid. You have to do it by yourself.
5. You have week 7, week 8 and week 9 to prepare your interview.
6. Be very direct and punctual with your answers, don’t waste time with a lot of
information that is not necessary.
7. AVOID poor and very short answers; it affects your grade.
This is the case for the interview
You are applying for an exchange in United States and you are going to be interviewed for
your possible future host family. This is a very important step on your exchange process
because if you are not accepted for any family al the process could be finished and you
really want to go.
You have to be clear in your answers and convince your host family (represented for the
host mom) of being welcome to be a part of her family
1. Tell me about you. Describe your personality.
2. How are you working or sharing with children?
3. What kind of activities do you do in your free times?
4. Are you supposed to play a musical instrument? Yes/no (explain)
5. We have two children and they are going to stay with you the most of the time at
home, what things do you think you are allowed/supposed to do in those moments
you stay at home with them?
6. What sort of activities you usually do with children?
2. 7. Issues and differences are part of families on their day by day. What do you usually
do to solve those tense situations that may happen in coexistence?
8. How are you going to involve our family with things from your culture, your
traditions, food and so on?
9. Do you think the language could be a limit for your development during your stance
in our house?
10. I am having different issues with my children behavior, what would you advise me
to do? What would you advise them?
11. We have two dogs, do you like animals? (explain)
12. We belong to a religious group and we go every Sunday to the church. You are free
to decide if you want to stay home or join us. What do you think about that?
13. What plans for the future do you have in mind after you finish this experience with
us?
14. How are you going to handle with the possible desires of being back in your country
with your family and leaving our house?
15. What special thing do you think you can offer us to accept your request of staying
with us during your exchange.
