My product clearly shows the old people as the
main character of this documentary film. These
are the old people who have been staying in old
home from many years waiting for their love
once to take them back. The documentary film
(The elderly haven) shows different interviews of
the old people with the interview of sister Venice
who is the main person taking care of st vincent
old home. By taking interview I showed there
different problems,lifestyle,daily routine and all
kind of different prospective. But the main things
which is outlined is that what do they think.
 The idea of convention which I got is from
Sharmeen obaid chinoy who won the Oscar award
for documentary film The saving face and A girl
in the river. plus documentaries film such as such
as Food inc by Robert kenner,Fahrenheit 9/11 by
Michael moore,Hoop dreams by Steve James and
Grizzly man by Werner Herzog and many more
gave me a complete sense of documentaries
types and category.
 The elderly haven outlines all kind of social
groups and age group as this documentary film
gives clearly a chance to make everyone
understand and learn especially for youngsters
and it clearly gives everyone a message that
 What kind of life they are living in old home
 The daily routine which they follow.
 What old people living there think.
 Children should not leave there parents.
 What facilities are given to them.
 Family's should come and meet them.
 People should give donations to old homes.
 People should provide them with basic necessities.
We should learn from them that whatever situation they
are going from still they are Happy, healthy and are
enjoying their life.
The elderly haven outlines issues that Parents use to
fulfill all the needs of the child before even asking
them, they were the one who took care of the child
from beginning when they did not know anything
and could not understand anything and parents use
to explain the same thing again and again so that
child can understand and should not get
disappointed. There are many things which parents
do for there children for there better life and future.
But on the other hand when the same responsibility is
on children they keep there parents in different kinds
of old home, same goes to the family member who
keep there relatives in old homes.
 The documentary film The elderly haven is for all
age groups but it really gives a chance to
youngster to understand and learn about elder
people and also to let them know that what kind
of life the old people live in old homes. Which
include all the facility given to them plus the
problem which they face such as remembering
there children or family members and the
condition in which they are living. On the other
hand it gives a great message to everyone which I
mentioned in above slides.
 However the distribution of documentary film
(The elderly haven) will be done from the social
media platform, as in these modern era social
media is a great way to promote or distribute
something. Different kind of social media
platform is used by majority of people all around
the universe so by this person like me will get an
opportunity as it will be delivered to majority of
people in less time and I will be able to know the
reviews of people all around the world. On the
other hand I also made Film cover , Film poster
and Cd cover so that everyone can understand
my concept and this way it can attract every kind
of person.
 The social media platform which I will be
using would be You Tube ,Blogger and
Wix.com etc.

 Other than this I also made Film cover , Film
poster and Cd cover.
In life every stage is a learning process and for me
this project made a huge difference as I
understood and learned about the different
aspects of media. From starting I had a great
interest in film making and wanted to try
something new, by making a documentary film I
got to know what things are needed and how to
do it in order to make a documentary film.
Moreover by making this project I got a chance to
show my leadership skills, and in shooting
process I had to interact with different kind of
people as in my documentary film I had to shoot
With different people in old home so this really made
me develop my interacting skill.
Furthermore by seeing different kind of documentaries
film and different directors like I mentioned in above
slides I could understand the different kind of work
and there point of view which every director did,
gave me some brilliant ideas and it also gave me a
sense and encouragement that how should I present
my point of view and message which I am trying to
promote from my documentary film.
Secondly the deciding factor and all the mind game
really boosted my confidence for eg deciding about
location, story, camera shots and angels etc.
The editing is all about technique and when doing
the editing I learned and understood that the
editor has to deal with number of challenges
such as cut of film scene, dialogue editing, and
assembling all the film shots and scenes from
which the film is presented well and is according
to the plan.
So after learning and understanding many things
from this project I can say that my production
skills developed brilliantly as even when I am
watching a movie, automatically my mind goes in
things such as angels, shots, editing and the all
film making aspects and also the message which
has been shown by the director.
Production
 For production I used Panasonic AG90
camera which is fully HD and was provided by
our school.
 For sound sony lavier microphone was used
to record all the interviews, and for voice over
recording Directional microphone was used
which was recorded in the editing system
using the software Audacity. Other than this
LED light was used which was mounted on
the camera during the interview shoots.
Post production
 For post production I used Adobe premiere
CC for editing and color correction.
 Video and Audio was edited by using Adobe
premiere.
 After final edit I used Adobe premier built in
color correction plugin lumenitor to do basic
color enhancement where I felt it was required.
An overall vignette effect was used to give a
feel to the documentary film.
Publishing/ Distribution
 After the editing then came the process of
encoding the film into a format through which
it could be send for CIE submission. Film was
encoded into mpeg format and by using
Adobe encore a DVD of the film was made.
 Secondly to upload the film on YouTube etc the
film had to be encoded in MP4 format using
Adobe premier cc
 Finally the film was updated on YouTube using
Google chrome browser. You Tube link:

 Picture were taken from the video footage
from which the poster and dvd cover was

  • 4.  The idea of convention which I got is from Sharmeen obaid chinoy who won the Oscar award for documentary film The saving face and A girl in the river. plus documentaries film such as such as Food inc by Robert kenner,Fahrenheit 9/11 by Michael moore,Hoop dreams by Steve James and Grizzly man by Werner Herzog and many more gave me a complete sense of documentaries types and category.  The elderly haven outlines all kind of social groups and age group as this documentary film gives clearly a chance to make everyone understand and learn especially for youngsters and it clearly gives everyone a message that
  • 5.  What kind of life they are living in old home  The daily routine which they follow.  What old people living there think.  Children should not leave there parents.  What facilities are given to them.  Family's should come and meet them.  People should give donations to old homes.  People should provide them with basic necessities. We should learn from them that whatever situation they are going from still they are Happy, healthy and are enjoying their life.
  • 6. The elderly haven outlines issues that Parents use to fulfill all the needs of the child before even asking them, they were the one who took care of the child from beginning when they did not know anything and could not understand anything and parents use to explain the same thing again and again so that child can understand and should not get disappointed. There are many things which parents do for there children for there better life and future. But on the other hand when the same responsibility is on children they keep there parents in different kinds of old home, same goes to the family member who keep there relatives in old homes.
  • 7.  The documentary film The elderly haven is for all age groups but it really gives a chance to youngster to understand and learn about elder people and also to let them know that what kind of life the old people live in old homes. Which include all the facility given to them plus the problem which they face such as remembering there children or family members and the condition in which they are living. On the other hand it gives a great message to everyone which I mentioned in above slides.
  • 8.  However the distribution of documentary film (The elderly haven) will be done from the social media platform, as in these modern era social media is a great way to promote or distribute something. Different kind of social media platform is used by majority of people all around the universe so by this person like me will get an opportunity as it will be delivered to majority of people in less time and I will be able to know the reviews of people all around the world. On the other hand I also made Film cover , Film poster and Cd cover so that everyone can understand my concept and this way it can attract every kind of person.
  • 9.  The social media platform which I will be using would be You Tube ,Blogger and Wix.com etc. 

  • 11. In life every stage is a learning process and for me this project made a huge difference as I understood and learned about the different aspects of media. From starting I had a great interest in film making and wanted to try something new, by making a documentary film I got to know what things are needed and how to do it in order to make a documentary film. Moreover by making this project I got a chance to show my leadership skills, and in shooting process I had to interact with different kind of people as in my documentary film I had to shoot
  • 12. With different people in old home so this really made me develop my interacting skill. Furthermore by seeing different kind of documentaries film and different directors like I mentioned in above slides I could understand the different kind of work and there point of view which every director did, gave me some brilliant ideas and it also gave me a sense and encouragement that how should I present my point of view and message which I am trying to promote from my documentary film. Secondly the deciding factor and all the mind game really boosted my confidence for eg deciding about location, story, camera shots and angels etc.
  • 13. The editing is all about technique and when doing the editing I learned and understood that the editor has to deal with number of challenges such as cut of film scene, dialogue editing, and assembling all the film shots and scenes from which the film is presented well and is according to the plan. So after learning and understanding many things from this project I can say that my production skills developed brilliantly as even when I am watching a movie, automatically my mind goes in things such as angels, shots, editing and the all film making aspects and also the message which has been shown by the director.
  • 14. Production  For production I used Panasonic AG90 camera which is fully HD and was provided by our school.  For sound sony lavier microphone was used to record all the interviews, and for voice over recording Directional microphone was used which was recorded in the editing system using the software Audacity. Other than this LED light was used which was mounted on the camera during the interview shoots.
  • 15. Post production  For post production I used Adobe premiere CC for editing and color correction.  Video and Audio was edited by using Adobe premiere.  After final edit I used Adobe premier built in color correction plugin lumenitor to do basic color enhancement where I felt it was required. An overall vignette effect was used to give a feel to the documentary film.
  • 16. Publishing/ Distribution  After the editing then came the process of encoding the film into a format through which it could be send for CIE submission. Film was encoded into mpeg format and by using Adobe encore a DVD of the film was made.  Secondly to upload the film on YouTube etc the film had to be encoded in MP4 format using Adobe premier cc  Finally the film was updated on YouTube using Google chrome browser.
