engineers cooperate closely with medical specialists in and outside of Europe to develop new and

an innovation-driven organization with rapid prototyping capabilities to support early-stage clinical
research and technology development.
OUR OFFER
Physiological data recorded during animal or human studies contain valuable information for
research. For optimizing the data analysis we want to establish a common platform that will
interface with any physiological data recording format, allows powerful annotation of the recorded
data, with automatic signal processing (e.g ECG and pressure annotation algorithms) and provides a
common interface for accessing the annotated data in post-processing (e.g. Matlab, Octave) or
statistical analysis (e.g. R). As basis of this platform we plan to use libRASCH/RASCHlab

Student at a technical university with good knowledge and experience of C/C++ programming.

Previous exposure to troubleshooting equipment and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or
electronic equipment following current standards, code and procedures to ensure safe and effective
operation of those devices.

Maintenance, Optimization, Improvement and Enhancement of an up and running Database and
Information System.
Data creation, handling and cleaning.
Oracle Database System:
The basic functionality of the existing Database resp. Information System should be enhanced on a
self-reliant and self-dependent base.
The System was developed using mainly JAVA following the MVC-Methode. Concerning the
programming languages also JS, JSP, JDBC and CSS, HTML were used. The development environment
was set-up using Eclipse including the SVN-Plugin subclipse.
The working packages of the SW-Releases vary in complexity and can be featured and formed by the
student too.
The Oracle-DB is connected to a Datawarehouse resp. Business Intelligence Software and
Analysis/Reporting Programms as SAP Busines Objects (webi) and BIRT.
Main topics:
- Continuous Improvement of the InfoSystem.
- Investigations concerning Data cleaning (Data-Mining, Data-Integrity).
- Extending the InfoSystem capabilities by Business Analyses Tools.
The daily work could also contain:
- Data research and data collection for latest communication systems and trends.
- Responsibility for data consistency in an internal information system (Oracle based).
- Improvement support for the database system and the data structures.
- Generating both trend and dedicated reports.
- RQs Management.

Qualifications:
We expect a person who is very much interested in electronics. Ideally the candidate should have
some basic knowledge about electronics at the university.
It is possible to work from approx. 16h/week to a maximum of 20h/week or 35h/week while
studying resp. during the lecture free period. We understand an adjustment of working hours from
one semester to the next.
