Part 1: Spreadsheet
The example spreadsheet that begins on page 2 is a rough suggestion of an annual, itemized budget. You will create your budget in Microsoft Excel. Your budget headings may vary, but your budget needs to be as specific as possible. Within each category, you should include purchases for the IT strategic plan. For example, if, as the CIO, you are contemplating moving applications to a cloud solution, your budget needs to reflect that process. The actual numbers can be approximate. A little research can point you in the right direction. For example, desktops run about $200-$300. Your executive summary needs to explain your budget. Possible headings include:

Simply put, fixed operational expenditures keep the lights on. They are mainly hardware and software maintenance items, licensing, etc. These are expected costs of doing IT business. If, however, you are purchasing more hardware or software that will require additional annual maintenance and license agreements, you’ll need to defend those purchases and the annual expenditures that will remain for the company.
II. New Purchases
Any new purchases you recommend need to be justified. Why are you purchasing them? What benefit do you expect from the purchases? Reynolds Tool & Die is an automotive component manufacturer supplying suspension pieces and
technology to both other suppliers and major U.S. and foreign manufacturers. Annual revenue is around
$50 million, and the company is profitable.
Reynolds has production facilities at their headquarters in Akron, OH; in Bloomington, IN; and in
Memphis, TN. Approximately 300 people work for Reynolds, including 7 in IT. The IT staff is broken down
as follows:
• IT Director
• 2 Help Desk personnel
• 3 Network Engineers
• 1 Software Engineer, primarily supporting the company’s SAP ERP system.
One network engineer works in Bloomington, one in Memphis, and the rest of the IT staff is located in
Akron.
The three sites are networked via an MPLS circuit. In addition to SAP® software, the company uses
Microsoft® Office 2010 for administrative work along with several specialized CAD programs for design.
The SAP software is two versions behind, but not at end of its life. A data center is in Akron, while the
other two sites have smaller hardware footprints consisting of Microsoft Exchange servers for email, a
small file and print server, and redundant Active Directory servers. EMC Storage Area Network (SAN)
devices are at each site. Redundant backup appliances are in Akron and Bloomington, and data can be
cycled among the SANS for further redundancy. While some server virtualization has been achieved, only
about 20 percent of all servers have been virtualized with the help of VMWare. All sites use Cisco®
switches, routers, and firewalls. Servers, desktops, laptops, and printers are all HP® and are between 3
and 5 years old and the desktops and Laptops use Windows® 7 as the operating system. All servers are
on Microsoft Server 2012.
There are no cloud applications. There has been a demand by administrative personnel and engineers for
integrating mobile devices with Microsoft Exchange and other apps but to date, the company has not

This proposal is a description of the implementation and configuration of the core IT services as a solution to "We Make Windows" Inc. This solution will supply the needs of the company for 2-3 years. As part of this proposal, six topics will be addressed in detail and both the business and technical reasoning for the choice of each of these topic will be provided. The 6 topics that will be addressed in this proposal include the new features of windows server 2016 that that the company can take advantage of, deployment and server editions, active directory domains, DNS and DHCP designs, deployment of application services, and last but not the least, printer and file sharing. That said, this proposal progresses as follows.
New features of windows server 2016 that WMW can take advantage
Nano server
One of the new features of windows server 2016 that WMW Inc can take advantage of is the nano server feature. At this point in time, it should be understood that the a "nano server is the server that is responsible for refactoring the core pieces of the windows server, turning them into their minimally functional state" (Ferrill, 2015). To expound further on the refactoring aspect, it should be know that refactoring is that process of analyzing a given code, in this case, the core pieces of the windows serve, the goal of which is to simplify it. Having described a nano server, it is time to address both the technical and business reasoning for this feature.
One of the technical reasoning for this new feature is that a nano server can run on a bare-metal operating system. In basic terms, a bare metal operating system is basically a hard disk which is the usual medium on which many computer operating systems are installed. So, the capacity of the nano server running on a bare metal operating system is advantageous in that the system will require fewer updates. At the same time, this means that fewer rebooting of the system when the updates are done will be necessary. From the business standpoint, fewer updates and reboots will ensure the business operations remain online and functional most of the time with little interruptions. Active Directory
Active Directory is a directory service that stores information about a computer network and allows centralized management. It provides features like hierarchical organization, a distributed database, scalability, security, and flexibility. When deploying Active Directory, it is important to plan the domain structure and verify the file system is using NTFS. Windows Server 2016 supports domain and forest functionality levels that determine available features. New features in Windows Server 2016 Active Directory include privileged access management, Azure AD join, and Microsoft Passport. Read-only domain controllers allow read-only access to Active Directory in less secure locations. Prerequisites like server hardware requirements must be met before installing Active Directory.

Reynolds Tool & Die is an automotive component manufacturer supplying suspension pieces and technology to both other suppliers and major U.S. and foreign manufacturers. Annual revenue is around $50 million, and the company is profitable.
Reynolds has production facilities at their headquarters in Akron, OH; in Bloomington, IN; and in Memphis, TN. Approximately 300 people work for Reynolds, including 7 in IT. The IT staff is broken down as follows:

· 2 Help Desk personnel
· 3 Network Engineers
· 1 Software Engineer, primarily supporting the company’s ERP system
One network engineer works in Bloomington, one in Memphis, and the rest of the IT staff is located in Akron.
The three sites are networked via an MPLS circuit. In addition to SAP® software, the company uses Microsoft® Office 2010 for administrative work along with several specialized CAD programs for design. The SAP software is two versions behind, but not at end of its life. A data center is in Akron, while the other two sites have smaller hardware footprints consisting of Microsoft Exchange servers for email, a small file and print server, and redundant Active Directory servers. EMC Storage Area Network (SAN) devices are at each site. Redundant backup appliances are in Akron and Bloomington, and data can be cycled among the SANS for further redundancy. While some server virtualization has been achieved, only about 20 percent of all servers have been virtualized with the help of VMWare. All sites use Cisco® switches, routers, and firewalls. Servers, desktops, laptops and printers are all HP®, and are between 3 and 5 years old and the desktops and Laptops use Windows® 7 as the operating system. All servers are on Microsoft Server 2012.
There are no cloud applications. There has been a demand by administrative personnel and engineers for integrating mobile devices with Microsoft Exchange and other apps but to date the company has not implemented a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) or a MDM (Mobile Device Management) solution.
The IT budget typically is between $1.2 and $1.5 million annually, depending on capital expense. Note that this budget ONLY covers hardware, software, services, and licensing. Personnel costs are not included, nor do you need to include them for the Week 4 budget assignment.

Remote users currently connect via VPN, which has caused numerous security incidents due to missing antivirus software, outdated AV signatures and missing OS patches on workstations and laptops.
Although the Austin location has not officially opened, there are six users currently deployed to that location. There are currently no domain controllers or qualified personal to support them at this location. This site needs to be incorporated into the ELearning Active Directory as soon as possible. Austin users must be able to authenticate and access ELearning Active Directory services. ELearning has recently acquired another company EduTech, Inc. The existing EduTech Active Directory Domain needs to be integrated into the existing ELearning Active Directory forest. The ELearning data center is located at the Vienna and Dublin locations. This is where ELearning hosts and maintains its cloud computing services. Since there increased demand for its cloud services ELearning has experienced difficulty getting servers and services deployed in time due to the lack of an efficient and cost-effective deployment process. The current Active Directory is a single domain. It is up to you finish the network design and improve the server infrastructure.

This proposal is a description of the implementation and configuration of the core IT services as a solution to "We Make Windows" Inc. This solution will supply the needs of the company for 2-3 years. As part of this proposal, six topics will be addressed in detail and both the business and technical reasoning for the choice of each of these topic will be provided. The 6 topics that will be addressed in this proposal include the new features of windows server 2016 that that the company can take advantage of, deployment and server editions, active directory domains, DNS and DHCP designs, deployment of application services, and last but not the least, printer and file sharing. That said, this proposal progresses as follows.

One of the new features of windows server 2016 that WMW Inc can take advantage of is the nano server feature. At this point in time, it should be understood that the a "nano server is the server that is responsible for refactoring the core pieces of the windows server, turning them into their minimally functional state" (Ferrill, 2015). To expound further on the refactoring aspect, it should be know that refactoring is that process of analyzing a given code, in this case, the core pieces of the windows serve, the goal of which is to simplify it. Having described a nano server, it is time to address both the technical and business reasoning for this feature.

Active Directory
Active Directory is a directory service that stores information about a computer network and allows centralized management. It provides features like hierarchical organization, a distributed database, scalability, security, and flexibility. When deploying Active Directory, it is important to plan the domain structure and verify the file system is using NTFS. Windows Server 2016 supports domain and forest functionality levels that determine available features. New features in Windows Server 2016 Active Directory include privileged access management, Azure AD join, and Microsoft Passport. Read-only domain controllers allow read-only access to Active Directory in less secure locations. Prerequisites like server hardware requirements must be met before installing Active Directory.

Reynolds Tool & Die is an automotive component manufacturer supplying suspension pieces and technology to both other suppliers and major U.S. and foreign manufacturers. Annual revenue is around $50 million, and the company is profitable.
Reynolds has production facilities at their headquarters in Akron, OH; in Bloomington, IN; and in Memphis, TN. Approximately 300 people work for Reynolds, including 7 in IT. The IT staff is broken down as follows:
· IT Director
· 2 Help Desk personnel
· 3 Network Engineers
· 1 Software Engineer, primarily supporting the company’s ERP system
One network engineer works in Bloomington, one in Memphis, and the rest of the IT staff is located in Akron.
The three sites are networked via an MPLS circuit. In addition to SAP® software, the company uses Microsoft® Office 2010 for administrative work along with several specialized CAD programs for design. The SAP software is two versions behind, but not at end of its life. A data center is in Akron, while the other two sites have smaller hardware footprints consisting of Microsoft Exchange servers for email, a small file and print server, and redundant Active Directory servers. EMC Storage Area Network (SAN) devices are at each site. Redundant backup appliances are in Akron and Bloomington, and data can be cycled among the SANS for further redundancy. While some server virtualization has been achieved, only about 20 percent of all servers have been virtualized with the help of VMWare. All sites use Cisco® switches, routers, and firewalls. Servers, desktops, laptops and printers are all HP®, and are between 3 and 5 years old and the desktops and Laptops use Windows® 7 as the operating system. All servers are on Microsoft Server 2012.
There are no cloud applications. There has been a demand by administrative personnel and engineers for integrating mobile devices with Microsoft Exchange and other apps but to date the company has not implemented a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) or a MDM (Mobile Device Management) solution.
The IT budget typically is between $1.2 and $1.5 million annually, depending on capital expense. Note that this budget ONLY covers hardware, software, services, and licensing. Personnel costs are not included, nor do you need to include them for the Week 4 budget assignment.

When you log on to Amazon.com, a screen often addresses you by name and suggests that, based on your past purchases, you might want to buy certain books or CDs, selected just for you. A telephone call with an automated telemarketing message is equally irritating whether we classify it as advertising or sales effort.
In United States history, advertising has responded to changing business demands, media technologies, and cultural contexts, and it is here, not in a fruitless search for the very first advertisement, that we should begin. In the eighteenth century, many American colonists enjoyed imported British consumer products such as porcelain, furniture, and musical instruments, but also worried about dependence on imported manufactured goods.
Advertisements in colonial America were most frequently announcements of goods on hand, but even in this early period, persuasive appeals accompanied dry descriptions. Benjamin Franklin’s
Pennsylvania Gazette
reached out to readers with new devices like headlines, illustrations, and advertising placed next to editorial material. Eighteenth- and nineteenth-century advertisements were not only for consumer goods. A particularly disturbing form of early American advertisements were notices of slave sales or appeals for the capture of escaped slaves. (

) Historians have used these advertisements as sources to examine tactics of resistance and escape, to study the health, skills, and other characteristics of enslaved men and women, and to explore slaveholders’ perceptions of the people they held in bondage.
Despite the ongoing “market revolution,” early and mid- nineteenth-century advertisements rarely demonstrate striking changes in advertising appeals. Newspapers almost never printed ads wider than a single column and generally eschewed illustrations and even special typefaces. Magazine ad styles were also restrained, with most publications segregating advertisements on the back pages. Equally significant, until late in the nineteenth century, there were few companies mass producing branded consumer products. Patent medicine ads proved the main exception to this pattern. In an era when conventional medicine seldom provided cures, manufacturers of potions and pills vied for consumer attention with large, often outrageous, promises and colorful, dramatic advertis.
