School, Family, Community Partnership
The Philosophy
NIC believes that the student is the focus of all
stakeholders of a school. Out of this
belief, partnership of parents, educators and other
community members is recognized to share the
responsibility of the students’ learning and
development.
NIC Partnership Program
Type 1: Parenting:
Help all families to support children as students.

Workshops about the PYP philosophy.
Offering parenting workshops on the school calendar.
Family support programs to assist families with
health, nutrition, and other services.
On the school calendar starting November
Providing suggestions for individual parents on specific issues.
Type 2: Communicating:
Forms of communications about school programs and
children progress.

School parents’ conference twice a year with follow-ups as
needed.
Scholastic year 2013-2014:

Written detailed report cards sent to parents three times a
year.

The school Learning Outcome twice a year.
According to unit calendar.
Unit orientation hand out sent to parents at the beginning of
each unit of inquiry.
PYP office and the channel book or e.channel communication.
Type 3: Volunteering:
Recruit and organize parent help and support.
• Parents on call volunteering list e.g.: in trips, school
activities. Parents have on orientation about the role
of volunteering parents and the procedures followed.
Type 4: Learning at home:
Provide information and ideas to families about their role
with students with curriculum related
activities, decisions and planning.
• Sending suggestions for home support with different
units of inquiry.
• Provide guidance to parents of their role with
students learning at home. e.g.: creating a
supportive learning environment at home, reading
with your child, …
Type 5: Include parents:
As representatives.
• Electing parents’ class representatives.
Type 6: Collaborating with the community:
Identify and integrate resources and services from the
community to strengthen school programs, family
practices, and student learning and developing.
• Action and service projects from the units of inquiry.
