NIC believes that students are the focus and that partnership between parents, educators, and the community is important for students' learning and development. The NIC Partnership Program includes 6 types of partnerships: 1) Parenting through workshops and support programs, 2) Communicating through conferences, reports, and updates, 3) Volunteering through recruiting parent help, 4) Learning at home by providing ideas for activities, 5) Including parents as representatives, and 6) Collaborating with the community to identify resources to strengthen programs, families, and student learning.

• Provide guidance to parents of their role with
students learning at home. e.g.: creating a
supportive learning environment at home, reading
with your child, …

8. Type 5: Include parents:

Identify and integrate resources and services from the
community to strengthen school programs, family
practices, and student learning and developing.
