2. Follow the link in the unit or click on the Discussion Board link in the
navigation menu to arrive at this screen. Then just click the title and
you are in
3. • You land here and then click “Create Thread”
• This will open the text box for you to post your 5
paragraph thread response to the DB prompt.
• Also it’s a good idea to subscribe to the Forum so
that you can see when your classmates post and
then you will have the opportunity to Reply. You
need to reply to at least 2 classmates Threads to
receive full credit.
4. It is very helpful to name your thread with your name and the title of the Discussion. You can just start writing or you
can use the paper clip to attach a word doc or pdf if you find that easier than just writing it spontaneously. Downside
of that is your classmates have to open it. You can also attach pictures videos etc if you like using the icons available.
When you are ready to go, just hit submit. If you want to come back later you can save and return to the DB later.
5. You can not receive full credit for discussion if you don’t reply in about 3 paragraphs to at least 2 of your
classmates. So it’s an important part of participation. From the Forum click on a classmate that you want to
reply to. (Hopefully someone who doesn’t already have 2 replies) Then click Reply and voila….
6. … you find yourself in a new window where you can compose your thoughtful 3 paragraph reply to two
classmates of your choice. Hit submit and you are good to go.
7. Go forth and Discuss.
• Discussion boards are a big part of this class because
we use them for both Discussions about the content
of the course, learning the strategies of creative
writing, and reactions to readings, and also they are
the tool we use for our very important Workshops.
• So make sure you get comfortable with this learning
environment right from the start.
