- 1. Inserting YouTube into your PowerPoint Presentation Prof. Mary Moore de Reece April 6, 2010
- 2. Objective After following the step-by-step instructions in this presentation, the participants will be able to embed a YouTube video into a PowerPoint presentation.
- 3. Embedding a YouTube video into PowerPoint So you found a video on YouTube and want to include it in the presentation your group is going to present. It CANbe done if you follow these steps.
- 4. Choose YouTube movie you want Before you begin—you need to choose the YouTube video you want to insert into the PowerPoint program. When you find one you want, click on the URL and then right click and copy. Now, you can start the PowerPoint process.
- 5. Step One Open the Developer Tab Open a new PowerPoint Enable the Developer TAB
- 6. Step One (Continued) In PowerPoint 2007 Click on the Office button Select PowerPoint Options In Popular check "Enable Developer Tab" In earlier versions Click on View Select Toolbars Select Control Toolbox
- 7. Step Two Check Security Settings In PowerPoint 2007, check that macro security is set to disable with notification. In earlier versions check that macro security is set to medium. In PowerPoint 2007 save the file as a *.pptm or *.ppsm macro enabled file.
- 8. Step Three Add Shockwave Flash Object Click on the more controls tool which looks like a hammer and spanner.
- 9. Step Three (Continued) Now scroll down and find Shockwave Flash Object.
- 10. Step Four Expand the View Area On your slide, drag to make the control fill the area you would like the YouTube Video to play in.
- 11. Step Five Add the Link(See the next slide for screen shots of this step) Copy the URL of the Video you want to embed. Now RIGHT click the control and select “Properties.” Choose “Movie” and paste in the URL from You Tube. “Embed Video” should be un-clicked.
- 13. Step Six Edit the Link Study the URL and delete the part that says watch? (nothing else) and then change the = sign to a / Original URL= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpEqI7CtWAE Edited URL= http://www.youtube.com/v/KpEqI7CtWAE
