Curricular Statement :Creating an awareness about sentences and the different types
of it.
Concept : Types of Sentences (Declarative, Imperative, Interrogative,
Exclamatory)
Learning Out comes : The learner is,
1. remembering the construction of a sentence.
2.understanding different types of a sentences.
3.applying examples for each type.
4.analysing the importance for sentence construction .
5.creating new examples.
6.developing the skill of studying grammar.
Pre-requisites: The learner may have the basic knowledge of sentence construction.
Teaching-Learning Resources: Charts, Pictures.
Procedure :Teacher, after an informal interaction, tells about sentences and
then she leads the pupils to the different types of sentences. After giving a detailed
description of all these, the teacher leads them to make examples by showing some pictures
relate to each types of sentences. Through this the pupils will understand the way of sentences
construction also they will study grammar in a different way. Here the teacher is using visual
techniques more instead of verbal techniques.
2. Informal Interaction
Teacher initiates an informal interaction with the pupils and
she tried to sustain their interest throughout the class.
Entry Activity
Teacher gave some words to the pupils and ask them to
connect that words so that they form a sentence.
Link Talk
Teacher leads the pupils to teach the types of sentences and
writer the types on the black board.
Micro processing of the input
Teacher first tells about sentences and she gave examples for it.
Then she teaches them the four types.
Declarative, Imperative, Interrogative, Exclamatory sentences.
1. Declarative Sentence : A declarative sentence states a fact
and ends with a full stop / period.
Eg: 1.The earth is round in shape.
2.She writes a letter.
2 .Imperative Sentence: An imperative sentence is a command
or a polite request.
Eg: 1.Don’t open the door(command).
3. 2.Please give me a pen.
3 Interrogative Sentence: An interrogative sentence asks a
question and ends with a question mark .
Eg: 1.Where are you going ?
2.Is this your book?
4. Exclamatory sentence: An exclamatory sentence
expresses excitement or emotion.
Eg: 1.Wow! a dog is driving a car.
4. 2. Oh ! what a wonderful bouquet it is.
Discourse Construction
1.Individual Work
Teacher ask the pupils to write the answers individually.
Write five examples for interrogative sentence.
2.Pair Work
Teacher ask the pupils to write the answers in pairs.
Write five examples for exclamatory sentence .
3.Group Work
Teacher ask the pupils to write the answers in groups
Write five examples for each types of sentences .
Follow up Activity
Take sentences from the lesson “ When Wishes Come True”
and divide it according to the four types of sentences.
