4. INTRODUCTION
• Mandibular lateral incisors are in two in
number,located distal to the central incisors.
• They are larger and less symmetrical than
central incisors.

7. • Chronology is defined as “a study which deals
with the timings of various stages of tooth
development. starting with the initiation of
the first dental tissue laid down to the
emergence of tooth in the oral cavity and its
completion of calcification”.

8. CHRONOLOGY OF PERMANENT
MANDIBULAR LATERAL INCISORS
 First evidence of calcification-3 to 4 months.
 Enamel completed - 4 to 5 yrs
 Eruption - 7 to 8 yrs
 Root completed -10 yrs

13. LINGUAL ASPECT
Almost same as central incisor.
Crown outline is trapezoidal.
Crown tilted distally on its root
surface.
Small smooth cingulam and its
slightly distal to the lonh axis of
the tooth.
Mesial marginal ridge is longer than
the distal marginal ridge.

19. • Incisal edge is not straight in mesio distal
direction,but slightly curved disto lingually
corresponding to the curvature of mandibular
arch.
