This is a presentation detailing my idea for making military Veterans more accessible for recruiters on LinkedIn - titled 'Veterans Badge - LinkedIn for Veterans".
This is my way of improving the user experience for Veterans who are currently using LinkedIn as part of their professional networking arsenal and recruiters who use LinkedIn to reach out to Veterans to fill job positions.
3. “LinkedIn will not help post photos of
your dog, will not help upload cute cat
videos, will not help pin ideas and
things …but it has far more profound
effect, by connecting you with your
dream jobs”
– Prasenjit Choudhury

7. The Big Idea
Veteran Badge - A special badge on
LinkedIn profile page for easy identification
for an armed forces veteran
8. Why do we need a badge on a LinkedIn profile?
• make a Veteran profile uniquely noticeable
• help recruiters search efficiently for Veterans
• promote the Veteran community on LinkedIn – before
competing social networks do.
Veteran Badge – LinkedIn for Veterans
17. • Number of existing users who update the badge
• Number of new users selecting the badge at Sign-up
• Number of search using checkbox done by recruiters
• Number of Veterans recruiters reach out to

RallyPoint is a social network for serving members, veterans and recruiters.
The data entered here will be used to send verification requests to LinkedIn members with similar credentials to validate the user’s claims about military service.
The verification will happen in the background while user can update the badge on the profile page immediately.
If the verification comes back negative, the user will be asked to validate the military service (this would be a good to have feature, since currently LinkedIn is facing issues with fake profiles)
This is the existing profile home page without any badge.
This is the updated profile home page with a Veteran badge visible.
Disclaimer: The profile shown here is not a Veteran.
The Veteran checkbox will be made search-able in Advanced People Search
Activation – existing users using the badge/recruiters using the checkbox to search for Veterans/recruiters reaching out to Veterans
Acquisition – new users selecting the badge at the time of Sign-up
