• Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) owned and founded by the
Government of India, is an engineering and manufacturing company.
• Established in 1964. Head office at New Delhi, India.

• Boiler Auxiliaries Plant (BAP), the 13th manufacturing unit of BHEL was
set up at Ranipet in 1980.
• BAP at Ranipet was set up as a byproduct plant for the manufacture of
boiler auxiliaries.
• The total capacity of BAP is 57000 tons/year.
• The main products ESP (Electrostatic Precipitator), APH (Air Pre–Heater),
FANS and Dampers & Gates.
• The unit has also manufactures fuel tanks for ISRO’S GSAT, INSAT 3 and
IRS P5 applications.
• The BHEL BAP is accredited by ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and
OHSAS 18001.
• BAP is the first unit of its whole corporation to upgrade to ISO 9001:2015
Quality Management System.

18. PROBLEM & SOLUTION
PROBLEM
The major problem is not following the Safety measures
like wearing helmets, gloves, shoes, etc. at the shop floor. Helmets
are not provided to the workmen. It is provided only for the senior
officers.
Suggested Solutions
Creating awareness about the safety issues to every employees
by conducting awareness program, giving safety instruction
pamphlets, etc.
Safety Inspectors from HSE department should monitor the
shop floor all the time and ensure that all are wearing safety
gadgets.
19. C O N C LU S I O N
Finally, I found that BHEL considered their employees as
most valuable assets and strengths for sustained growth &
development.
BHEL supports their employees from all the sides and
make them happier. In return, the employees work freely
and do their job effectively.
It gives me an opportunity to learn about various
manufacturing functions and different departments.

In BHEL BAP, the work start from Marketing Department by getting orders from customers, plans and then start production. The projects become half completed when the products are shipped to the site. At the site, all the power plant products are assembled and tested. Finally the project is fully completed by closing the contract.
