This talk was given at the FOSS4G Asia 2021 held at Kathmandu, Nepal. Have you ever heard about Open Indoor Map project? No? Don't worry about that you don't know the OIM(Open Indoor Map) project, because OIM is quite new project and not publicly well-known. OIM project got many inspiration from Open Street Map. OIM is a project to let users upload & share their indoor related data. Users can upload their IFC, CityGML, IndoorGML, 3DS data that represent indoor space to the OIM server and OIM server service those data through web in 3D. OIM project makes use of many open source project including mago3D, Assimp, and others. I expect OIM project could expand crowd-sourced map to indoor space as well by complementing Open Street Map.

I gave this talk at the ITEA3 Smart City Business Event. In this talk, I introduced mago3D project, an open source based digital twin platform first. And then shared the real cases that I and my company have carried out in various industries. I concluded the talk with what I've learnt from these real projects. Some food for thoughts around digital twin were provided for further discussion.

지난 4월 3일에 대전 KAIST 증강현실연구센터 콜로키움에서 발표한 자료입니다. ‘Digital Twin’ is a digital replication of real world objects, processes, phenomena that can be used for various purposes. Digital twin concept backs to manufacturing industry in early 2000s for the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) purposes. It is based on the idea that a digital informational construct about a physical system could be created as an entity on its own. As cities are going through digital transformation, there are many attempts to apply digital twin concept to manage urban issues. Those attempts look set to play an increasingly important role in the creation of smart cities around the world and in addressing major public health, safety and environmental issues. Bringing the virtual and real worlds together in this way can help to give better analysis, visualization, and simulation to decision-making process. This will be a multi-way process with iterative feedback among stakeholders. In this colloquium, I talked about the recent trends of Smart City from the perspective of digital twin.

The utilisation of mobile augmented reality to display gallery artworks or museum content in novel ways is a well-established concept in the augmented reality research community. However, the focus of these systems is generally technologically driven or only addresses the end user and not the views of the gallery or the original artist. In this paper we discuss the design and development of the mobile application ‘Taking the Artwork Home’, which allows people to digitally curate their own augmented reality art exhibitions in their own homes by digitally ‘replacing’ the pictures they have on their walls with content from the Peter Scott Gallery in Lancaster. In particular, we present the insights gained from a research through design methodology that allowed us to consider how the views of the gallery and artists impacted on the system design and therefore the user experience. Thus the final artifact is the result of an iterative evaluation process with over 100 users representing a broad range of demographics and continues to be evaluated/enhanced by observing its operation ‘in the wild’. Further, we consider the effect the project has had on gallery practices to enable both augmented reality designers, and galleries and museums to maximise the potential application of the technology when working together on such projects.

ViziCities is an open-source 3D city visualisation platform powered by OpenStreetMap, WebGL and many other cutting-edge Web technologies. ViziCities not only allows you to explore any city in the world in 3D in your browser, it also lets you overlay data like live transport, crime, pollution, live social data, and weather. Think SimCity meets the real world! In this talk, Robin Hawkes, ViziCities' co-creator and Lead Developer will introduce you to the project and demonstrate its powerful methods for visualising the complex data locked within our cities.

Decentraland. Whitepaper. Decentraland is a virtual reality platform powered by the Ethereum blockchain. Users can create, experience, and monetize content and applications. Land in Decentraland is permanently owned by the community, giving them full control over their creations. Users claim ownership of virtual land on a blockchain-based ledger of parcels. Landowners control what content is published to their portion of land, which is identified by a set of cartesian coordinates (x,y). Contents can range from static 3D scenes to interactive systems such as games.

The goal of our project is to improve creativity in design by using an interactive genetic algorithm in a group setting, where users can copy each other's solutions to explore a bigger search space. The case study is creating 3D models for a video game. Vertex programs are used to create transformations of the 3D models. This was presented at the Design Computing and Cognition Conference, June 2014.

With the goal of lessening barriers to the learning of advanced programming techniques, we put into place a trial which required students to get involved with online communities of programmers. Using a course assignment on software architecture styles, students had study a problem, find basis for a tentative approach, and discuss it online with programmers. The expectation was that students would find motivation for their studies from both the contact with communities of programmers, and from having to study and reflect upon their problem well enough to be able to draw the interest of members of those communities. We present the strategy we used, the developments and outcomes, and ideas for further application of this approach. Paper presented at IEEE EDUCON - Engineering Education 2012, Marrakesh, Morroco.

VR and AR are on track to become a multi-billion dollar industry. With the first wave of commercial VR deployment coming in early 2016, we can expect to see growing adoption of consumer systems, driven by high production value games and cinematic experiences that surprise, delight and entertain a large audience. These initial titles are solitary affairs, downloaded and installed as “apps” that are cut off from the rest of our digital lives, and delivered as big-budget projects that require high-friction engagement with the consumer. But it will not always be this way. Over time, VR will converge with AR and the World Wide Web to enable a new type of virtual experience: connected, social, and low-friction, requiring no downloads or installs, accessible at the click of a link, and democratized so that anyone can create and publish VR/AR content. In short: the Immersive Web. The development of the Immersive Web is already underway. Experimental versions of web browsers enable VR, and an ecosystem of tools, content and services is emerging. Join virtual reality pioneer, author and entrepreneur Tony Parisi as he shares his view of the coming virtual and augmented future, and a snapshot of the state of the art. Augmented World Expo (AWE) is back for its seventh year in our largest conference and expo featuring technologies giving us superpowers: augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and wearable tech. Join over 4,000 attendees from all over the world including a mix of CEOs, CTOs, designers, developers, creative agencies, futurists, analysts, investors, and top press in a fantastic opportunity to learn, inspire, partner, and experience first hand the most exciting industry of our times.

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/why-teams-call-analytics-is-critical-to-your-entire-business Nothing is as frustrating and noticeable as being in an important call and being unable to see or hear the other person. Not surprising then, that issues with Teams calls are among the most common problems users call their helpdesk for. Having in depth insight into everything relevant going on at the user’s device, local network, ISP and Microsoft itself during the call is crucial for good Microsoft Teams Call quality support. To ensure a quick and adequate solution and to ensure your users get the most out of their Microsoft 365. But did you know that ‘bad calls’ are also an excellent indicator of other problems arising? Precisely because it is so noticeable!? Like the canary in the mine, bad calls can be early indicators of problems. Problems that might otherwise not have been noticed for a while but can have a big impact on productivity and satisfaction. Join this session by Christoph Adler to learn how true Microsoft Teams call quality analytics helped other organizations troubleshoot bad calls and identify and fix problems that impacted Teams calls or the use of Microsoft365 in general. See what it can do to keep your users happy and productive! In this session we will cover - Why CQD data alone is not enough to troubleshoot call problems - The importance of attributing call problems to the right call participant - What call quality analytics can do to help you quickly find, fix-, and prevent problems - Why having retrospective detailed insights matters - Real life examples of how others have used Microsoft Teams call quality monitoring to problem shoot problems with their ISP, network, device health and more.
