2. Guy Richie is a huge inspiration to me and the entire film industry, his films
focus on how there shot and interesting plots rather that huge CGI sequences.
I have chose him because of his unique take on filming scenes, his films
contain loads of graphic matches and other clever edits. For example in his
film snatch, he uses reverse shots, shots sped up and slowed down and action
matches. There's such a variety with what he does that every short is new,
clever and exciting, which engages a fox thinker audience. His films never
really follow what you expect, again, in snatch, the film revolves around a
betting scam from a rigged boxing match, a group of gypsies killing a
notorious gang and a jewellery heist. For me Guy Richie has influenced my
piece in terms of story line and use of shots and what I do. Looking at his
work I want my film to have lots of clever colour grading to show contrast
between scenes and have connotations.
GUY RICHIE
3. One of things I have to work out is how roll my credits in the opening scene,
what I'm currently thinking is taking what guy Richie has done is snatch. And
doing a cut-out style effect like this:
MORE GUY RICHIE INFLUENCE.
Here's my attempt:
This effect was
achieved in adobe
after effects. I
masked out my
subject, applied
threshold, grain
and torch, which
gave it a cut-out
look.
My version has
purposefully lost
more detail as I
prefer the non
realistic look.
4. KEANU REEVES
Keanu reeves to me is an influential figure of acting to me,
and has really been the basis for my character. In his films
he has always been very loyal to a lossed one or very family
centred. For example “john wick”, people come and kill his
dog, the only remaining gift from his dead wife. And he
goes on a murderous rampage seeking revenge. He played
both loving, like at the start of my film concept, to violent
killer in the end. This character development of the role is
Something that Keanu is very good at. And its
exactly what I would like my character to be like In
my films. Also Keanu reeves has been seen in
conglomerate films and independents, so there is a
chance that he could come and be in our film
without costing millions.
5. The role of the producer is very important, he covers everything from script
to lighting, and I think of all time Steven Spielberg is the best,
his use of framing and lighting always add to his films
making them ageless, Jurassic park 1 is as good now as it
was then, Spielberg's decision to use models instead of CGI
Was an amazing amazing idea. Spielberg has away of using
Very basic concepts to create an atmosphere. Just using low-
key lighting, strategically placed in frame gives all his films a
“flat” appearance and makes everything a little more interesting.
STEVEN SPIELBERG
See how simple
Lighting is used
Exceptionally
well.
6. INFLUENCE OF SPIELBERG
Use of haze in lighting. The use of a haze machine creates a foggy
atmosphere that makes all light turn into beams of light that looks really cool
on camera, it’s a basic cinematographic element that Spielberg often uses
which ties the shot together. My film needs to have a sort of unreal aspect to
it, as its dealing with a representation of heaven, and lens flare, light beams
and lots of colour grading (like Spielberg uses) will create the atmosphere that
I am aiming to achieve.
Here you can see how Spielberg used fog
and light beams to create a setting of
mystery and almost fear, as the gloomy
room hyperbolises the mans anger.
7. To me lions gate is a huge influence, as an independent company they have
progressed to making bigger films such as the hunger games, but there earlier
films from 2005 and backwards often had a harder meaning / background,.
For example they made the film hard candy, which brought attention to the
adults out there praying on teenagers for sex. This here is a hard issue which
lions gate managed to adapt and create into an action packed film that
appealed to a lot of people. And this here is what I too, want to attempt. To
take an issue (albeit mine more philosophical) and convert it into a film that
the mass audience would take.
