Early life Born in a Bengali Hindu, kayastha family on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack, odisha, (bengal presidency), to janakinath bose, an advocate and prabhavati devi. His parents' ancestral house was at kodalia village (near south 24 parganas, west bengal) . Studied at stewart school, cuttack, an anglo school, until the seventh standard and then shifted to ravenshaw collegiate school. After securing the second position in the matriculation examination of calcutta province in 1911, he got admitted to the presidency college. Later joined scottish church college under university of calcutta and passed b.A. In 1918 in philosophy.

National politics Indian National Congress In 1927, after being released from prison, Bose became general secretary of the Congress party and worked with Jawaharlal Nehru for independence. Again Bose was arrested and jailed for civil disobedience. This time he emerged to become Mayor of Calcutta in 1930. Bose appeared at the 1939 Congress meeting on a stretcher. He was elected president again over Gandhi's preferred candidate Pattabhi Sitaramayya.

  8. 8. Last Months With The Indian National Army During the last week of April 1945, Subhas Chandra Bose along with his senior Indian National Army (INA) officers left Rangoon by road for Moulmein in Burma
  9. 9. Last Days and Journeys  Bose left Singapore on 16 August, 1945 and came to Saigon.  On 17 August airport, a Mitsubishi Ki-21 heavy bomber, of the type code name Sally by the Allies, was waiting for Bose.  On 18 Aug the group flew out to Taihoku, Formosa.

Death in Plane Crash • Just as the bomber was leaving the standard path taken by aircraft during take-off, the passengers inside heard a loud sound, similar to an engine backfiring. • It was portside engine and the propeller • The plane swung wildly to the right and plummeted, crashing , breaking into two and exploding into flames.

  13. 13. FIGGESS REPORT, 1946  The crash near TAIHOKU airport on 18 August 1945 of a plane on which Subhas Chandra Bose was a passenger  Bose died in the nearby hospital on the same day  Bose’s cremation was in Taihoku &  Transfer of Bose’s ashs to Taihoku
  14. 14. SHAH NAWAZ COMMITTEE 1956  Shah Nawaz khan, S. N. Maitra, Suresh Chandra Bose were in this committee  67 witnesses were interviewed in India, Thailand & Vietnam  Suresh Chandra Bose was not agree with the committee  Decission taken as Bose died in the plane crash in Taihoku on 18 August 1945
  15. 15. KHOSLA COMMISSION 1970  It was a one man commission , G. D. Khosla. He was a chief justice of Punjab High Court.  He suggests the motives of many of the story-purveyors are less than altruistic.
  16. 16. MUKHERJEE COMMISSION 1999-2005  Supreme court judge M. K. Mukherjee was appointed in this commission.  Netaji didn’t die in plane crash  The ashes kept at the Renkoji temple, reported to be Bose’s, were of Ichiro Okura  The report of this commission was tabled in the Indian Parliament on May 17,2005, the govt. rejected the report
  17. 17. RESPONSE TO RTI REQUESTS In response to RTI filed by Subhash Agarwal, prime minister office declined to declassify files related to disappearance of NETAJI
  18. 18. Did Nehru know Bose was alive? Nehru was informed by Bose in 1950 that he was living captivity in Russia
  19. 19. The Cover up • Government of India didn’t agree with the findings of Justice Mukherjee. • Sinha made the sensational disclosure that the earlier photographs shown in the public featuring the crash site could be fake
  20. 20. Probe not given secret files  In 1956, the Shah Nawaz committee refused to consider the document ”Allied secret report No. 10/Misc/INA. The document says “Gandhi…..believe that Bose was alive in hiding,…..”  Documents are kept secret.
  21. 21. MYSTERIOUS EVENTS AFTER AUGUST 1945 A top secret cipher telegram no 3338 dated October 20, 1945 from British govt. reveals that they were not convinced about Netaji’s death in the plane crash.
  22. 22. How Habibur Rahman didn’t have any burn injuries? Habibur Rahman was the eyewitness of the incident . Bose dies of severe injuries on his face and Habibur himself had helped Bose in his last moments. But he had no sign of injuries.
