Youth Newsletter
Greetings from the Youth Board!
As Spring approaches we hope that you are all doing well. As for the youth board,
we have been working hard on plans for conference and visiting different youth
groups in Wisconsin. Currently, we are almost finished visiting the youth groups in
Wisconsin and are hoping to visit the youth groups in Minnesota.
Since our last newsletter, we visited two additional churches. The first one we
visited was Hmong Pilgrim in Green Bay. We met with the youth members during
Sunday School, attended service with them and stayed after church to eat pizza and
to play the Wii.
The second group we visited was Hmong Outreach in Oshkosh. We met the youth
members during Sunday School, played icebreakers, attended service with them and
stayed after church to eat and share about conference.
We would like to thank all of the youth groups that we have visited so far for their
INSIDE THIS
hospitality.

Keep an eye out, we may be visiting your youth group next!!!

Conference 2012
By this time many of you should have already received some
news on Conference. Our previous newsletter covered basic
information and between Christmas and now many things have
been added or changed.
Here are a few changes/updates:
Conference Information 1. There will be a picnic on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. We
will have food, games, sports and a little praise and worship.
Dates:
If your parents/guardians are hesitant to let you come a day
July 19—21, 2012 early, let them know that there is a Pastors Conference that
day and so there will be adult supervision.
Place:
2. Need a moment during conference? Visit the prayer room!
Our Savior Lutheran Church
For those of you who do not know what a prayer room is, it is
7910 E. St. Joe Hwy a room that is set up specifically for quiet time with God. Our
Lansing, MI 48917 goal is to make it a comfortable room for reflection and
prayer. We will have posters available where prayer requests
can be made anonymously.
Theme:
“Prepare the way for the Lord” 3. Feel a little disconnected from the other youths? Don’t
worry, we’ve got you covered. This year we have
Encouragement posters. These posters will have the
Churches listed on top and any one is free to give them
encouragement and prayer. Best of all, the churches get to
take this home as a reminder of conference!
These are only a few new developments! We are sure there
will be more to come, but we would love to hear what you all
would like to see at conference. Let us know, so we can better
serve all of you.

What is Easter?
This is a question that many people ask throughout their lives. Many people see Easter as
the time our Lord and Savior rose from the dead after three days in the tomb. This is correct,
but Easter is a little more than just our Savior rising from the dead. First, Easter proves that
Christ is the Son of God and shows that all of Christ’s teachings are true. Easter shows that
God accepted Christ’s sacrifice as atonement for the world and that all who believe in Him will
rise to eternal life.
Easter is the fulfillment of God’s promise to save man from sin, death and the devil
(Gen. 3:15). It is a time when Christ descended to hell and preached to the dead in hell
(1 Peter 3:19). Easter is the time we celebrate our Savior rising from the dead and ushering
us our eternal life. Furthermore, Easter reminds us of our baptism. We were once enemies of
God, but in our baptism God forgave our sins and took us in as His own children. In our
baptism, we were buried (died) with Christ and raised (come to life again) with Him
(Gal.2:12). Easter is the seal of guarantee of our salvation. St. Paul said in his first letter to
the Corinthians that if Christ had not risen from the dead, our sins would not have been
forgiven, our faith would be futile (1 Cor. 15:17) and we would still remain in our sins. Finally,
Easter also gives us hope that one day all believers, past, present and future will all rise on
the last day to eternal glory with God. Therefore, whatever challenges our days may brings,
we know with certainty that the Lord Jesus will never forsaken us.
May this Easter season brings us joy and happiness in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Words of Encouragement
As a college student, life can seem so hard. There are many worries and the list of things
to do never seems to shrink. Homework, projects, student organization commitments and work
seem to take importance over spending some quiet time with God. Though we try not to, God is
put on a backburner and if we have time that day, then we will give a moment to God.
Every day we experience events that test our faith and we stumble. In this world, we are
surrounded by earthly things that are attractive to the eye but can be damaging to the soul. In
addition to this, we may also be surrounded by those who want to pull us off the path we are
walking on by questioning the existence of God. It is so easy to be a part of this world that we
forget that there is something bigger and better for us. We forget that we are temporarily mak-
ing our home here. We forget that we are constantly on a mission field whether we are students,
workers, parents or any thing else. We forget to put God’s will before our own.
Though we may fail God in many ways, by His Grace, He uses imperfect people to do His
perfect will. In this world we will find trials and sorrows, but in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
we will always find peace. This Easter season we are reminded again of what Christ did for us on
the cross and how He rose again from the dead on the First Easter Sunday.
All Glory and Honor to God, our Father.
"But I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. Here on Earth you will have
many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." John 16:33
