2. Empire
I chose Empire as reference material as it is the most popular Film magazine at
the moment and is easy to find in stores and online.
3. Practise pictures
I took a few practise pictures after getting ideas from past students work. I
decided to take them as if they were scenes from a movie as this is a film
magazine and they will be the main segment of the magazine.
4. This is my favourite image out of
them all and will most likely be
the front cover.
The use of selective focus draws
the audience to see the most
important person or object in this
case the model.
I asked my models to look as if they were
having a conversation or acting out a scene
and used many different angles to take the
photos.
I took a few group shot
photos to show other
characters interacting and
use different angles to show
different messages, these
will most likely be DPS
pictures.
5. Why I chose film.
The north east has many different types of cinemas, I could go round and ask
for information like number of customers per day and use this in my magazine
or what films are on show at the nearest cinema to you, this will be use full
as it is a reginal magazine and will tell you what's on at your closest cinema.
The north east also have community run cinemas such as the jam jar and art
house cinemas like the customs house which could be featured in this
magazine as a breath of fresh air.
6. Colour scheme
I had a look at some other film magazines, Empire is the most
common nation magazine. Their main colours are Red and white.
Some pieces of text are colour in silver like the main sell line, by
using the silver text it really sets it apart from the back ground and it
is the title of the main featured movie on the cover.
7. Colour scheme
Total film’s colour scheme is yellow and white, the yellow is mainly the
highlighted topic and something they are using to sell the magazine. SPIDER-MAN
is in bold yellow text which draws in the eye and is the main selling point, the Vs
in batman v superman is in yellow because everyone has been talking about how
batman and super man will be fighting each other so they choose to highlight
that factor.
8. My colour scheme
My colour scheme could be red, white and blue to link to
the union jack this will make the magazine seem more
homily. The red and white also link in with the empire
magazine which is a popular film magazine. The crack a
reginal magazine doesn’t have a colour scheme, maybe I
wont either to link in with reginal magazine. Spark
magazine also doesn’t have a colour scheme, they rely on
the colours of the back ground to link in with the title
colours.
9. Facial expression
I asked my model to look straight at the camera and to look serious just
like they do in popular film magazines all models look straight at the
camera to connect with the audience and to look serious. After doing
my Millum and Fergison research I realised that my model is doing
Invitation facial expression by Fergison. Emphasis on the eyes, mouth
shut or with only hint of a smile. Projected mood: suggestive of mischief
or mystery, hint of contact potential rather than sexual promise. By not
having a celebrity on the cover it relates to reginal magazine I also took
the photo on Seaburn beach which links it into reginal magazines.
