2. MEANING OF «NETIQUETTE»
The word
«Netiquette» stands
for «Internet
etiquette».
It is the code
of polite behaviour
on the web.
It includes several
aspects
of Internet, such as
email, social media,
online chat, web forums,
website comments and
multiplayer gaming.

3. GOLDEN RULE, TREAT OTHERS AS YOU
WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED
we must never forget that
human beings on the other side
of the screen deserve
respectuful treatment.
One of the most important rules:

4. NO FLAMING
If you are the target of a
personal attack, you mustn’t
respond to it.
Flaming is the act of posting or
sending offensive messages
over the Internet.

5. DON’T TYPE IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS
We don’t have to type in all capital letters:
1. People may
misunderstand;
2. It is rude;
3. It is the equivalent
of yelling

6. DON’T SPAM
It is normal to
want to be
noticed in the
crowd of people
on social media,
but spamming can
be annoying and
may have the
opposite effect.
Spamming means sending
the same or similar
messages lots of times.

7. DON’T TALK TO STRANGERS
Communicating with strangers you
meet online is not safe.
You mustn’t talk to them, agree
to phone them, or send them your
photos. In particular, you mustn’t
arrange to meet anyone you meet
online.

8. OBEY COPYRIGHT LAWS
You mustn’t steal
someone else’s idea,
property and rights
and you have to give
credit to the sources
you use.

9. USE PROPER GRAMMAR AND SPELLING
Good spelling, grammar and punctuation are
really important when you text someone or
you post something on the web. In fact, errors
reduce the credibility of your message.
So, it’s important to
check carefully before
sending a message in
order to prevent a
misunderstanding.

10. BE HONEST
It is proper netiquette
to behave on Internet as
you do in reality, so you
have to tell the truth
and be yourself.
Making up false profiles
and alter egos will only
discourage people from
talking openly with you
and taking you seriously.

11. FOLLOW THE TOS
Most sites have
rules and terms of
service policy, you
have to read and
agree before using
the site.

12. SHOP SECURE SITES
Before giving any information to a
website, you should make sure it
is secure. Check the address bar
and look for contact details.
