The internet can be used for educational purposes, communication and to find endless amount of information from an unlimited number of resources. World Wide Web is different than the internet because it is a network of sites on the internet which contain words, sounds and pictures. To promote safe internet surfing, use parent controls and make sure to tell others about safe surfing.
2. Five items that should be included on my top 10 list: Think carefully before revealing any personal information about you or your family such as age, marital status, or financial information. Never respond to messages or bulletin board items that are suggestive, obscene, abusive, belligerent, threatening, or make you feel uncomfortable. Never give out your email address or identifying information Remember that people online may not be who they seem. Because you can't see or even hear the person it is easy for someone to misrepresent him or herself. Instruct your child not to click on any links that are contained in e-mail from persons they don't know.
6. How do I stay safe?? To stay safe, you should never give out your phone number, address and your real name. Always keep where you go to school, your email address and your parents credit card details to yourself. It is possible for someone to hurt you if you give these out! You can give out only information that cannot be used to identify you.
8. What is a flame? A flame war?How can you prevent a flame war? Flaming is starting a fight. Series of angry words within two to three people. To stop flame wars, don’t send spam and be nice. What is netiquette? Something you wouldn’t do in real life, or acting outrageous on the internet. What is an emoticon? What can you use them for? Copy down at least two and what they mean. 9. Name two things you should remember about being online. Remember the human and follow the same behavior standards online as you do in real life. Why should you do if you become uncomfortable with a topic or site you find on the Internet?
