I Am Not A Good Person
The Beginning of my Story
Tattoos have long been seen as flaws on the body, the signs of a delinquent, and a painted on sign
saying, "I am not a good person". For years, my own parents butchered my love for the art. They
told me I'd regret each and every one I got. Their words always just went in one ear and out the
other. I always told them I'd prove them wrong and the stereotype of tattooed people wrong. I am
twenty years old now with seven tattoos on various regions of my body. I have two large tattoos on
my left arm, three smaller tattoos on my right arm, one large one on my back, and one small one on
my chest. Those are just the ones I already have, by the end of all my glorious tattoo sessions; I hope
to have approximately twenty–five to thirty tattoos covering my body. As Johnny Depp once said,
"My body is my journal and my tattoos are my story", that is the motto I live by regarding my
present and future tattoos.
It was cold and the air was crisp as I awoke for class at six in the morning on November 24th, 2014.
I slowly awoke from my deep sleep while throwing the nearest clothes on and getting my backpack
together for math class. I trudged through my house and out to my car like a pig through mud.
Looking at my watch, I realized I had only 25 minutes to get to class. I sped out of my driveway like
a racehorse out of the gate without hesitation. Cars on the road were bright orange cones I had to
pass with quick precision and timing. With three minutes to spare, I

An Example Of A Good Person In Tree Girl
Good Person In society today, we need more people who are supportive and loyal because without
those kinds of people in our world today there would be no wonderful people. People who are loyal
are people who you can trust and have your back, I know this because Tree Girl in this book gabbai
(The main charter) must go and find a refugee camp so she won't be killed be these horrible people
and she takes her little sister Alicia with her so she can be safe too, so as they travel on the way to
find it gabbai stayed loyal to Alicia and never left her side and that shows a true loyalty and it's a
wonderful example of how people need to act and how friends and good people should never leave
your side ever though it may be difficult for both of you

It Has Been Said That First Impressions Are Almost...
Some people said that first impressions are almost impossible to change. while others said first
impression are able to change when we get through it. In this time it hard to judge people by just
looking. we can't tell people whether they are good or bad by their physical appearance, or we can't
tell about their personality by their first impression. This the time people don't trust each other and
love each other. In my position i completely disagree by the ideal thinking of that first impressions
are almost impossible to change. I believe that first impression is possible to change . There are
some examples we could proof it such as, the more you get to know somebody , the best you can

In my personality I have a hard time to get to know with people. such as when i came first to
Wakefield i had a hard time of getting peoples feeling and there personality. I couldn't tell by my
first impression because i have found it that the person i thought is going to be bad turns to be good.
And all I seen come different. So we can't tell a person with inaccurate assumption. It is hard to tell
by first impression but it is important for the next step. To analyze my idea that first impression isn't
good enough to judge a person. some people might agree with the ideal assumption of first
impressions are almost impossible to change while some of us disagree. In order to know someone
better and to be a true and honest friend we have to get to know each other with certain amount of
time. The you get to know somebody, the best you can evaluate them. First impression isn't
everything but it is helpful for our next level. So please people don't judge a person by first look get

Defining A Good Person In Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austen
The definition of "being a good person" is different to everyone. You won't be able to find an exact
definition that everyone will agree upon. Most definitions fall along the same lines as some may say
a good person is good because of the meaningful gestures they contribute in life, such as having a
kind heart, caring for others who don't even care about you, cherishing the little things, gently to
children and who will help out an elder. Others often say that it's a bit more complicated than that.
Regardless, there isn't an accurate response to this vague concept. With this said, how do we
determine who is good and who is bad? Who is right or wrong, and who deserves the benefit of
doubt? Are we put in the position to judge them on their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the introduction, he affirms that there isn't enough to characterize actions as good or evil, but that
there should be something about the action that makes them accustomed to moral nature. Within the
second chapter Mill gives his definition of Utilitarianism which is a theory based on the principle
that "actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to
produce the reverse of happiness." He defines happiness as pleasure with the absence of pain. The
existence of pleasure and the absence of pain are both viewed the core basis that people desire. He
gets to the point by saying that morality is imposed by the greatest happiness principle and that
moral action increases the total amount of utility that is in the

What Is A Good Person? Essay
Taylor Burroughs
Dr. Craig Jones
Philosophy Online
1 December 2016
Final Paper: What is a good person? What is a good person? This is perhaps a question that can be
answered in many ways and by many different opinions. A good person is defined differently by
everyone. I chose this subject because I am very interested in knowing how people would define "a
good person." Many people are not necessarily concerned with their behaviors. Our behaviors define
who we are as for how people view us as individuals. To be a good person is a very difficult task,
especially in the world that we live in today. There is so much hate, hostility, and just pure evil
everywhere that you turn and good people are becoming a dying breed. In House and the Life of a
Reason, it states "From what we've seen so far, and especially where House is concerned, these
properties have nothing to do with God, the soul, or the afterlife. They may however, have
something to do with how one feels about one's life, as long as those feelings match up with what
we ought to care about, what we out to feel is important." (332) How ought we live, and what kind
of people should we be? To be a good person you must act like a good person. Our actions affect the
way that we think, the way that we are, and the way that we view things. We should wake up every
day and try out best to serve others. In my own code of ethics, a good person is someone who
displays compassion, love, care, joy, and goodness of their

What Makes A Person Good Or Evil?
What makes a person good or evil? Why are some people labeled as good and some evil? Why do
some people have traits or characteristics of both good and evil? Are people truly evil or do they just
make bad choices? Throughout our lives we are faced with making decisions about our lives and
often the choices we make can determine the path we follow. Depending on our life choices we can
be labeled as either good or evil. Good and evil are relative; one person can be good while another
evil. Some people can possess a combination of both good and bad traits. But even those who are
considered bad can be rehabilitated to display good qualities such as empathy or kindness.
According to neuroeconomist Paul Zak, 95 percent of people studied release oxytocin when they
received a positive social signal. Oxytocin is released when we watch an emotional movie, are
touched by someone, or trusted with someone else's possessions. About 5 percent of the people
studied did not have a release of oxytocin after stimuli, resulting in the conclusion that these people
possess psychopathic traits (Zak). People who are evil genetically lack receptors for oxytocin and
tend to display the psychopathic traits. They do what they want will little or no regard for the safety
or wellbeing of others. They tend to be loners and many have suffered from some form of abuse
during childhood (Zak). Stress can cause good people to have moments when we act badly. This
occurs because stress inhibits

Rebecca Long Says The Difference Between A Righteous...
Rebecca Long, a Christian philanthropist writes that a righteous person is morally correct while a
good person is a liberal and unselfish.
Although no one is perfect there is a distinct difference between a righteous person and a good
person. Rebecca long writes that a righteous person is being right for God, while a good man is
being right with humanity.
"Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might
possibly dare to die" (Romans 5:7). A man can be defined as righteous if he is morally correct and
have perfect obedience of the laws God demands and faith, a man who is distinguished simply for
honesty and sincerity of conduct, one who has no remarkable claims for amiability of character or
for kindness. As much as this person is admired and respected, he has no characteristics which
anyone would accurately die for. By 'a good man', it signifies a man whose attributes kindness,
friendliness, tenderness. A liberal and supportive man, who is helpful in his distributions to the poor
and compassionate, who unselfishly helps others. This man would be much more likely to appeal to

God promised to give Abraham a son and that he would be the father of many, despite the fact that
he was 99 years old and his wife Sarah was 90, way past the normal age to have children.
Nevertheless, Abraham trusted in God and as his faith grew more vigorous, the Lord told him to
offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice to prove his faith. Abraham obeyed and brought Isaac to Mount
Moriah, laid him on the altar and at the last minute God told him not to execute Isaac, but instead
gave him a ram to sacrifice. Abraham's faith had been tested and proved, by believing and listening
to God. It wasn't that he was a superior man than others, yet simply that he was faithful in his

In the beginning of the good place, Eleanor was an awful person when she was alive on earth. She

Eleanor did not think of herself all the time, she started putting people before her and this is what
makes Eleanor a good person and belong in the good place. There are many examples Eleanor gave
that she was a good person, three of the most important are, one, she started to care for Tahani. Two,
she wanted to change, she started learning how to be an ethical person. Lastly, Eleanor started to

is a bad person, she continuously complained about her soul mate. The second reason, she went

that she was last on the goodness list. When in the good place, everyone has a soulmate. Out of all

Extreme Altruism...
INTRO 500words
For my Personal Interest Project I have chosen to study extreme altruism, people who risk their for
the good of another person. The reasoning that got my attention at choosing this topic was that of a
personal family death which involved Altruism that occurred when I was younger.
My links to the course are conformity and non conformity, continuity and change and how people
behave in groups, also what aspect of identity or self encourages some to care to the extreme and
express a willingness to risk their life while others do not. My link to continuity and change focuses
on past generation and whether people were more or less likely inclined to help others.
My research methods include interviews, data analysis and a questionnaire. I used interviews to
create three case studies about people who have risked their life to save other people. Data analysis
was used to analyse the nature of recipients of the 2015 bravery awards in Australia and to establish
any trends in the nature of the altruistic behaviour. My questionnaire involved 540 respondents,
chosen from a variety of workplaces, schoolmates and family and friends in a provincial city, I
chose this technique as it allows me to get a more accurate first person response and gives me an
access a range of opinions.

Was Hitler A Good Person
I would like to discuss the possibility that Hitler was acting on his own "morality." I don't know too
much about the man, but I would like to discuss a few points in terms of whether he was a "good
person" or "bad person." ...Basically, how you should judge him or look at him. I think most people
would say immediately that Hitler was evil, bad, screwed up, crazy, a lunatic. However, as far as I
know, Hitler spent a lot of time studying philosophy and ideas and didn't really do much until after
he was 30 years old. So, while it would be easy to just judge the guy as a "lunatic," there were
probably real "reasons" for his actions. Here are a few points I have heard and I could be wrong. As

It was something to prepare the way for Christ. Because how would people know they needed a
savior from their sin, if they were not aware they were sinners. So, essentially, people were given a
law that they were unable to follow "perfectly" and they became aware of their guilt when breaking
the law. Hence, the idea of a conscience. I'm sure the idea of a conscience preceded the Jews and
probably went along with any group of people that had any kind of social rules. However, the Jews
introduced a complex series of laws that would regulate nearly every aspect of your life, so the idea
of "sin" became bigger, so the conscience would take on a larger role. So, one point is that Hitler
didn't like to idea of a conscience. So, he targeted the people that propagated these ideas. And in his
view, these people were evil. Of course, this doesn't mean that Hitler was "justified" in his actions.
However, there are some implications about his thinking. If it was Hitler's desire to obliterate the
concept of a conscience, then it would be easy to see how he could "unfeelingly" assist in the
destruction of millions of people, without it bothering

Prejudgment Reflection
A prejudgment is a form how people interpreted information from other persons even though
sometimes they don't any evidence that can prove what they are saying about the other person, they
only have assumptions that are created in their mind. These people tend to criticisms people either
because of physical appearance or stereotype. It's obvious that sometimes these individuals used
prejudgment because they perceive something wrong with some persons that transmit
uncomfortable sensations, so in some cases the prejudgment it's useful to prevent or avoid some
dangerous situations. As, the author of the book The Messages the Communication Skill Book
states, "Since first impression are so important, it's equally important to become aware of some of
the most typical of prejudgment" (pg.192). Basically, the first impression it is important because
that's how people perceive others either by a good sense or bad senses. Then, perpetuating illusions
is when individuals create imaging in front others either because they are afraid because they don't
want to be rejected it or even sometimes they are looking for affection. Most of these people suffer
low self– esteem or they don't accept themselves the way they are, so they need to use perpetuating
illusions in their mind to feel secure in front of others. These delusions that these person
arrangements around them start creating uncomfortable situations, instead of building a healthy

Macbeth: What Makes A Good Person?
First of all, what makes a good person? What are the beliefs or principle as to what makes a good
person. Is it someone who brings justice, honor, or one who does good deed? Could it be someone
who is intelligent, spiritual, and calm like Siddhartha? Or someone who is as noble as Macbeth? Or
someone who is loyal, brave, and has superhuman strength be considered a good man? Although
there are many traits that describe a good man, but the traits I consider are the most important are
intelligent, loyal, and brave as to what makes a good man. In the book of Siddhartha, in his journey
to reach enlightenment he had to overcome many obstacles and distractions that came his way.
Siddhartha once said "It is not for me to judge another man's life. I must judge, I must choose, I

The king labeled him as a fine gentleman "for brave Macbeth–well he deserve that name"
(Pg.38,XVI) He fought side by side with his leader and did not every once show any signs of
disloyalty. He was a nobleman, Thane of Glamis, and soon to receive the title of Thane of Cawdor
for fighting against Macdonwald. He was just a man who turn from good to bad because of the
pressure from the witches and his wife. Signs that show that he is naturally a good person was when
before killing Duncan, he tried to resist the temptation. But the pressure from his wife was too
much, all he wanted to do was to please his wife. "Yet I do fear thy nature; It is too full o' the milk of
human kindness, To catch the nearest way."(I.V.14–16) Lady Macbeth knew that her husband was
too weak and too kind to ever kill anyone. So she insulted his manhood to get to the dark side of his
heart. Here Macbeth is clearly pressured into doing evil. He was never a ruthless person, until his
wife whipped him until he had done it. Even a good person can be destroyed by evil if he/she is

Slavery Frederick Douglass Analysis
The Wonderful Life
In Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, Frederick Douglass mentions
that slaves do not have the privilege to have an education. In "Nicomachean Ethics," Aristotle
explains that without happiness, doing something good will not really matter because you will not
be happy. In "Slavery," Jean–Jacques Rousseau mentions that war is not the key to end slavery
because war is only for states not against man to man. In "Thinking in Education," John Dewey says
that thinking is another method in learning because it will help students reflect on things. Life can be
wonderful if people learn to find ways to keep that happiness in them.

Dewey says that people "have dwelt especially on the negative side" because we let our minds think
that there is a specific way of thinking (6). As people keep growing, their knowledge keeps
developing. While people keep learning, they have to learn to accept somethings. One of those
things is by simply being able to accept that if a paper is wrong is wrong but at least they tried.
Looking at a paper or project that is wrong sometimes frightens people but it should not be that way
because those who have bad papers become the best ones. Even though, people are wrong that
should not stop with their education because of that. Meanwhile, Douglass was doing his chores, he
was able to take bread from home and share with the little white boys "who, in return, would give
[him] more valuable bread of knowledge" which was able to help him with his reading and writing
(2). Being wrong does not mean that this is the end, instead is a way to motivate yourself to do the
best as you can to achieve something better. People should not be letdown when they do something
wrong because no one is perfect. People just find ways to learn even if I some cases they do thigs
wrong. The whole point of this is to be able to learn and be wrong. People should not be
disappointed if they do a paper and they do not pass. They will just keep in mind their mistakes for

Why Is Charles Kane A Good Person
I believe that Charles Foster Kane could've been a good person, but ended going down the wrong
path. He was given a large sum of money when he became an adult, but in return basically had his
childhood stolen from him (Hughes). His mother wanted him to live the rich life instead of in a little
town where she was living and to eventually inherit her recently found fortune (Hughes). When he
was given this money, he let it take over his life and lost sense of how he should behave. Because of
this, I do not personally like Charles Kane due to how he let the money affect his decisions.
I believe that the author portrays Charles Kane as sort of an evil man through the things he does, but
shows that Kane doesn't realize how he is behaving is wrong. One example of this would be how he
ran his newspaper company the New York Inquirer (Citizen Kane). He presented the news in the
best way possible to get as many people as he could to read it. Even if he had to lie a little bit in the
title or in the actual stories, all he cared about was being everyone's main source of news. This
however was the opposite of what he originally wanted to do which was to present only honest and
true news. One time he lied about the news was in relation to his second wife Susan Alexander. She

the baking business in an attempt to get back at Thatcher for taking him from his family (Citizen
Kane). This shows that Kane wasn't a very good person because Thatcher tried his hardest to get
Charles to like him, but was never successful in doing

Socrates Is A Good Person
In an effort to spread the word of Socrates to a larger audience, Plato often wrote down the
discussions he held in the form of dialogues. In these dialogues, Socrates continuously makes an
effort to define that which is not easily defined and addresses questions in which the solution is not
always straight forward. Reading through Plato's dialogues, such as, Euthyphro, Crito and The
Apology, readers can ponder the claims Socrates makes and receive a particular insight into his
point of view. It is known that Socrates is sentenced to death after being charged with corrupting the
youth and denying the existence of the gods, as he presents his defense in The Apology. However,
the debate as to whether or not Socrates is a "good person" is left up to interpretation as he never
clearly states that he believes himself to be one. Nevertheless, his actions reflect that he is indeed a
good person because of his constant pursuit of the complete truth in all matters, his lifestyle choices
and unconcern for material objects and lastly his lack of fear in the certain face of death. In Plato's
Euthyphro, Socrates' innate need to reach a certain "undisputed truth" or the most "accurate truth" is
abundantly clear. In this dialogue, Socrates is summoned to court by Meletus on charges of impurity
while Euthyphro must prosecute his own father who is charged with murdering a hired hand.
However, the dialogue is quickly veered toward uncovering the complete definition of "piety", as

therapy clinics where a professional may perform complimentary therapies on an individual to help
them relieve stress or anxiety.
There are many different factors that affect access to complementary therapies. An example of this
is a person's disability. If they are physically disabled they may be unable to attend certain treatment
or if they are in any other way disabled the person may be unable to attend treatment.
There are also religious factors that may affect an individual's access to

Good Reputation Research Paper
A reputation is the recognition or impression of a person without getting the chance to meet who it
is. Reputations are important because it shows the respect others have for someone whether that is a
stranger or a friend. It also affects how an individual is judged through first impressions. Overall, a
reputation is an expectation of what a person is known to be, and how one opinion can have a drastic
effect on someone else's life.
To me, reputations are people's expectation of what an individual is as a whole. Whether the
characteristic a person embodies is good or bad, others are quick to judge. For example, I have the
reputation of being responsible. To most of my friends, I'm known for getting my work done on time
while getting a good night's rest. What they don't know, I'm scrambling to get my work done
because of procrastination, to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Therefore proving, people expect me to
be a certain way when they don't know the whole truth. Overall, a reputation is a way to see how ...

Socrates, the famous Greek philosopher, said, "The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to
be what you desire to appear". In other words, a person receives a good reputation by searching a
way to feel comfortable with how they want others to perceive them. Yet, another's judgment can
affect the outcome of how someone wants their reputation to be. Without the respect of others, a
person can be in solitude, shying away from social contact.
Therefore, a reputation is just an opinion of what someone is supposed to be and the effect their
respect can have on another person. I believe a reputation is just a way to file someone under a
category to distinguish who that person is as a whole. Along with that, the respect or opinion to an
individual has the ability to change how others perceive them. Although reputations aren't reputable
themselves, they can affect lives for better or

Characteristics Of Good People
The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for
its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about
Garp, Jenny, and the other main characters: are they good people? Writers often portray main
characters as flawed, yet ultimately ethnically good human beings; however Garp and Co constantly
walk a moral line. My conclusion: no, they were not good people, but they weren't horrible people
either.
If I were to ask people on the street if they considered themselves to be a good person, I am almost
positive most people would say yes. Nevertheless, the fact remains that statistically people are
predominantly average human beings. Still, I do think it says something that people, in general,
want to be kind–hearted. They want to help people in need, or stand up for animal rights. They
speak out against discrimination, or stick up for a friend. Sometimes, yes, people harbor selfish
incentives; nonetheless, a good deed is still a good deed.
Defining a good person is difficult because I don't want to put constraints around it. To be morally
good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own
definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing
so, he/she can make an effort to remedy them.
With such a vague definition, it is tough to ask specific questions. A potential question could be

Modern America and the Diminishing Individual
In his essay "Modern America and the Diminishing Individual", Peter Cooper talks about how today
there is an absence of genuine compassion for one another. Copper opens his essay by stating "The
impudence, indifference, self–centeredness, evidenced by some Americans are symptomatic of
contemporary national malaise" (70). Which basically means that our attitude for "self" is like a
sickness in our society today. He goes on to say "Individual significance in society commonly
diminishes in direct proportion to the number of people" (70). He expresses that the reason for this
being is that "Human behavior deteriorates when many people are crowded closely together,

Today you would be lucky to even know your neighbors names. The term "love thy neighbor as you
love yourself" is not really relevant anymore. Why? You see in today's society we only feel the need
to associate ourselves with people that can potentially help us. We are so focused on what we can
get out of people that we no longer value each other.
We have become so self–indulgent that it has this have become the norm, so much that for us we are
unaware of when we are doing it. Recently my Uncle called me and asked me how I was doing, as
we further ventured into our conversation, he asked me if I could ask my coach to let him rent the
gym. Although he called me, he really did not want to know how I was he wanted me to do a favor
for him. He only asked how I was doing because it was the "polite" thing to do. Oddly enough you
would think that the one group of people who are supposed to honestly care for you would be your
family. Even your family is not exempt from this behavior. They find ways to use you for things
rather than to see how you are doing, and getting to know you. Often times we are victims of this,
we do things like this unconsciously, and we use people rather than building a relationship with
them. We neglect what we are actually doing and we continue to operate with selfish motives and
are blind to the fact that we are actually doing it.

According to Maritain, the individual is a complex entity that holds the desires and wants of the
human being, and is willed to the universe for its own sake and stability. The person requires
community to manifest dignity, and seeks acknowledgement for who we are, and what we are, as
humans, and it allows for preferences of each being as it evolves. Because people have inherent
good in their essence, and, according to the encyclicals, are created in God's image, the good is
capable of transcending anything a political system has created. The good of the human being is
above the combined good of the physical universe because God became us, and so our goodness is
above anything and everything else. This inherent goodness that is within the being

I Am A Soldier And A Good Person
The army has taught me so many great things. It taught me how to be a disciplined soldier and a
good person. I was inexperienced of life before I joined the army. Therefore, I was overwhelmed of
life lessons when I came to basic training. However, I learned the seven army values which were
loyalty, duty, respect, selfless–service, honor, integrity and personal courage; I experienced every
value throughout my training process. They help me to discipline myself to be a good soldier and a
good person. The value that I honored most was integrity. I was taught that integrity was doing
what's right, legally and morally. However, throughout my training experience, I understand
integrity as fearless, to tell the truth, responsible for your own action, and hardworking.
Integrity means the courage, to tell the truth. In the beginning of my training process, I was told to
study the seven army values by heart. I didn't understand why my drill sergeants made such a big
deal about those values. The seven words were easy to remember, and we all knew the meaning of
them. However, I changed my mind when I witness Lopez's situation. Lopez ate a Twister bar and
left its wrap in the trash can. My drill sergeants found out about it and questioned the whole platoon.
Lopez was fear of the punishment, so he didn't admit his wrong action. Lopez was considered
having no integrity by the whole platoon. However, Lopez wasn't the only one who was accused of
having no integrity; my drill sergeants were

Odysseus says, "Their I sacked the city, killed the men, but as for the wives and plunder, that right
haul we dragged away from the place we shared it round so no one, not on my account, would go

woman with is a lot worse than just cheating. Just because odysseus is a good leader does not meant
that he gets to do whatever he wants. Odysseus thinks that just because he is very liked means that
nobody will ever find about his affairs. Even if odysseus did not rape woman he still cheated many
times before. When calypso was talking with odysseus you could tell that she was really in love with
him she said,"Ah what a wicked man you are, and never al a loss. What a thing to imagine, what a
thing to say." (5.203–204). This shows that they both have chemistry for each other and that she
really wants him to bring her to bed. It is kinda like odysseus forgot that he had a wife which he had

What Makes A Good Person? Essay
If you asked a random person on the street "what is a good person?" or "what is the good life?" you
would likely receive a different answer from everyone. These answers would be different because
everyone has their own ideas and opinions of what the answers should be. For many, a good person
is someone who lives a good life, is a Christian, or someone who helps other individuals. For some,
a good person might be someone who puts others first and someone who is reliable. The same
applies to the answers you would receive from "what is the good life?" Just like everyone had
different opinions on what a good person is, they will also have different opinions on what the good
life is. You might get answers ranging from spending time with one's family to having a lot of
money. These answers vary depending on the individuals values and world view. For some
individuals this desire for money can cause them to act on it, driving them to steal in order to gain
happiness. Bronk supports this idea by stating, "Our answers guide our actions, influence our
decisions, and inspire our dreams" (2008, p.713). This paper will discuss how philosophers believe
everyone should live and what kind of people we should be, what a good person is, what the good
life is, and what the relationship between goodness and human reality is. How Ought We to Live and

The Importance Of Being A Good Person
What does it mean to be a good person? This question has been asked millions of times since the
beginning of time, which is why it is one of the most discussed topics in everyday life. Individuals
that delve into the art of philosophy find themselves seeking the truth about the morals and values
one should have in life to be considered a good person. Morals are the fundamental standards of
right and wrong in society such as the Ten Commandments in the Bible. Values, on the other hand,
are an individual's perspective on what is right or wrong. In the book Values in Thought and Action,
David Lipe sheds light on the idea of moral value. He states that "if one were to follow all the rules
and principles perfectly he would probably not be judged as a morally good person," moreover "we
desire that one possess such qualities as friendship, love, and loyalty" (Lipe 123). Being a good
person is not merely knowing right from wrong but rather, it is having dignity, devotion, and
sincerity in all that you do. Rudyard Kipling exemplified these traits best in the poem "If," which is
centered on the values one should have in order to be regarded as a moral individual. When
attempting to make a definitive list of the values one must obtain to be considered moral, it is
important to remember the universal virtues handed down through history that have influenced the
characters of men today. In the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, there are four main 'Cardinal
Virtues' "which all

What Are Qualities Of A Good Person?
Description of Text Set The following books is a collection intended for a kindergarten through first
grade setting. The collection includes problems that each main character needs to resolve through
their good qualities. For this text set my question I would like to include in my class room is; "What
are qualities of a good person?" I believe that this set of books will help students gain qualities to
better themselves. This text set will allow young students to see positive role models and what
makes them positive role models. The books themselves will appeal to young students through the
story lines, high quality illustrations, relatable events, along with receiving the message/"Question"
of the text set. I chose this topic because I believe every individual can better themselves, but also
embrace the good qualities that it has. For young students I believe it is important to help influence
how they treat others and look at themselves in a positive manner. Since my text set is for younger
students I will be reading most or all the books aloud to the class. I believe the books will capture
student's attention, teach them a lesson, all while they enjoy the books. I also plan on including these
books in a class room library. Beaty, A. (2013). Rosie Revere Engineer. ANRAMS A fictional story

as evidenced by the following text. Zayd Ibn was a slave who was given as a gift to Muhammad
(Stewart, 37). After Zayd Ibn came to Muhammad's home the boy's biological father located him
and asked Muhammad to let the boy return to his home (Stewart, 37). Zayd Ibn rejected his father's
wish and asked to stay with Muhammad's family because he loved it there (Stewart, 37).
Muhammad was so pleased by Zayd Ibn's admiration for his family that he freed the boy from
slavery and formally adopted him (Stewart, 37). Muhammad had also freed his slave Baraka and
even arranged a marriage for her (Stewart, 37). After the death of Baraka's husband she returned to
Muhammad (Stewart, 37). Muhammad and his large family welcomed Baraka into their family
(Stewart, 37). Earlier the preceding text discussed the mistreatment of slaves by the rich in Mecca.
Muhammad's kindness is evident in the fact that his freed slaves wanted to remain in his household.
Muhammad often sought out solitude in the hills of Mecca. During the month of Ramadan
Muhammad would sometimes spend all of the days and nights in the peaceful solitude of the hills
(Stewart, 39). It was on Mount Hira in Mecca that Muhammad experienced a

Why Is Gladiator Considered A Good Person
Society always judges people on their actions, thinking about how moral or immoral. In the movie
"Gladiator" by Ridley Scott, they explore the wrongs of man. The protagonist, Maximus Decimus
Meridius is portrayed as a good person because of his honorability. On the other hand, Commodus is
portrayed as "bad" or evil because of the way he treats the "good" person. While stories usually have
good and bad characters, there's a sign on how we know which one is bad and which one isn't.
People usually get attracted to the protagonist rather than the antagonist. In "Gladiator," Meridius is
shown as a good person because of his honorability and pride. " Three weeks from now, I will be
harvesting my crops. Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. Hold the line! Stay with me! If

Commodus, the antagonist from "Gladiator," is considered a bad person because of the way he treats
other characters. "If you're very good, tomorrow night I'll tell you the story of emperor Claudius

went out late at night and conspired and conspired but the emperor Claudius knew they were up to

looked at her and he said, "Tell me what you've been doing busy little bee or I shall strike down
those dearest to you. You shall watch as I bathe in their blood." And the emperor was heartbroken.
The little bee had wounded him more deeply than anyone else could ever have done." This quote,
said by Commodus, is when he is talking to his nephew while his sister sits across the table. While
he is talking to the kid, he wants to tell his sister that if she doesn't tell him everything, he will

Good Oral Hygiene For A Persons Overall Health
Good oral hygiene plays an important role in a persons overall health. Also, it can help a person to
be more confident, which in turn leads to better success! Some people do not realize the
consequences of poor oral hygiene on their overall health. The consequences are not just bad teeth!
For example: you may end up with an infection of the blood, heart problems, respiratory problems,
etc. While some know this, many do not think it affects their ability to succeed in school and career.
If a person has bad teeth, they will be more likely to be self–conscious. Therefore, they might not
smile or seem as friendly. Friendliness and a smile is very important in any job because that is what
builds trust. It is very hard for most people to trust someone who never smiles. Because of poor oral
health, parents are missing more work and children are missing more school. Also, it is harder to
concentrate when oral health is bad. Children with tooth pain maybe distracted from learning
valuable information because they are so focused on their tooth pain. As a result, parents miss work
because they have to take their kids to the dentists or tend to a sick child when teeth get infected.
Then, if the parents themselves need care, that only adds to the struggle. Dental care is not cheap.
Especially, if a person does not have insurance. A concern is that people might put off important
dental work because they cannot afford dental care or insurance. As a result, they may battle

The Importance Of A Person Has A Good Work Ethic
In America some jobs are more sought after than others, and to hold these positions without having
it taken away requires experience and a good work ethic. There are many ways to show that a person
has a good work ethic. Some are going to college and graduating with good grades. Others are
getting and holding a job in or after high school or doing internships. However, there can be
complications when a person is trying to show their interviewer that they have a good work ethic.
Without a previous job or internship there is not much information about the individual applying for
the job. Thus the employer might choose another worker. Even if the person without a previous job
or internship is a harder worker with a better work ethic, they cannot show this until they are hired,
and that is a risk that several companies do not take. Impressing potential employers requires the
ability to show that one can receive and hold a previous job, or have been an internship that give the
intern with experience in the work field. One way to make a resume impressive is to have prior
work experience. Not only does this show that a person can hold a position at a place of work, but it
also gives the potential employer a source to contact and receive more information about that
individual. Having a prior job can make you appear to be a better candidate for the prospective job
than someone with the same education and work ethic, but has not had a job. In fact, college
students may

throughout the Holocaust to survive. There are three important quotes from the memoir that are
significant and poignant that am going to be talking about.
Hows your faith? Because the Jews lost faith throughout the Holocaust because of mistreat and of
what they would see. The Nazis made the Jews lose their faith because they treated them as slaves

I don't think so he just made chaos around. Hitler made so many promises to the Jews but never
actually did none of them. All his promises were just a lie. He was a fraud, cruel to innocent
people."I have more faith in Hitler than in anyone else. He alone has kept his promises, all his
promises, to all the Jewish people" (70). In this quote Elie is saying he doesn't believe in anyone but
Hitler because he does keep his promises. But soon later on when they realized that none of his
promises and notice the kind of things he would do they right away knew he was no good. Although
the Jews were told a bunch of lies by Hitler they soon realized the type of person he was.
All three quotes were important because it showed us what the Jews went through. The Holocaust is
a very important period of time because many innocents died and because it was a harsh time. Elie
was a lucky survival because none of his family made out alive. These people suffered a lot but no

Good People In 'Timbuktu:' A Good Person?
A "good person" is a person who is willing to show the world all of the kindness and generosity that
everyone needs to come across so the world will be a very positive place for future generations.
Willy G. Christmas, a dying middle– aged poet in the novel Timbuktu, is a man who talks to his dog
Mr. Bones and wishes to find his beloved teacher in Baltimore with Mr. Bones by his side.
Throughout his life, he has done drugs which made him seem like a terrible person and all of the
drugs that he did overtook his life when he was very young. However, he has done some good deeds
such as saving a couple of people from getting shot or stabbed and that displayed how he put others
before him. Willy is a good person because he truly does care for the well– being of others,
including his beloved dog who he advises to run and be free after his life slowly fades away from
this world. Everyone deserves to live in a world full of positivity and gentleness, which is how the
world should always be. To be considered a "good person", people must be willing to put others first
before themselves. There may be times where another person's problems might affect another person
where they might want to lend a helping hand. Sometimes, personal satisfaction is not always what
matters because nowadays, it comes across as selfish because it seems like people only want to do
something for themselves instead of noticing those who need help more than they do. Not only is it

Summary Of Jacquelynne Eccles 'The Sports Taboo'
People are always making judgements on who a person is just by looking at someone. They take in
what that person looks like and starts to make judgements on who he or she is. In "Who am I and
What am I Going to do with my Life? Personal and Collective Identities as Motivators of Action",
Jacquelynne Eccles explains her view on a person's identity: "I am defining collective identities as
those personally valued parts of the self that serve to strengthen one's ties to highly valued social
groups and relationships–such as one's gender, race, religion, social class, culture and family" (web).
She believes that these characteristics listed above are what make up a person's identity and those
make an impact on what people will look at to make judgements on that particular person. I agree
with her statement; however, I believe most people define identity according to race, interests, and
gender, which emphasizes how we categorize different people into social groups. ... Show more

We are constantly using race as a judgement factor on who a person is in everyday life. In "The

allowed to acknowledge black athletic success as long as they feel guilty about it. What you're not
suppose to say is what we were saying in my track days–that we were better because we were black

another race. This is just one example on how different races are used to determine who a person is

I Am Not A Good Person

  • 1. I Am Not A Good Person The Beginning of my Story Tattoos have long been seen as flaws on the body, the signs of a delinquent, and a painted on sign saying, "I am not a good person". For years, my own parents butchered my love for the art. They told me I'd regret each and every one I got. Their words always just went in one ear and out the other. I always told them I'd prove them wrong and the stereotype of tattooed people wrong. I am twenty years old now with seven tattoos on various regions of my body. I have two large tattoos on my left arm, three smaller tattoos on my right arm, one large one on my back, and one small one on my chest. Those are just the ones I already have, by the end of all my glorious tattoo sessions; I hope to have approximately twenty–five to thirty tattoos covering my body. As Johnny Depp once said, "My body is my journal and my tattoos are my story", that is the motto I live by regarding my present and future tattoos. It was cold and the air was crisp as I awoke for class at six in the morning on November 24th, 2014. I slowly awoke from my deep sleep while throwing the nearest clothes on and getting my backpack together for math class. I trudged through my house and out to my car like a pig through mud. Looking at my watch, I realized I had only 25 minutes to get to class. I sped out of my driveway like a racehorse out of the gate without hesitation. Cars on the road were bright orange cones I had to pass with quick precision and timing. With three minutes to spare, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. An Example Of A Good Person In Tree Girl Good Person In society today, we need more people who are supportive and loyal because without those kinds of people in our world today there would be no wonderful people. People who are loyal are people who you can trust and have your back, I know this because Tree Girl in this book gabbai (The main charter) must go and find a refugee camp so she won't be killed be these horrible people and she takes her little sister Alicia with her so she can be safe too, so as they travel on the way to find it gabbai stayed loyal to Alicia and never left her side and that shows a true loyalty and it's a wonderful example of how people need to act and how friends and good people should never leave your side ever though it may be difficult for both of you ... • 5. It Has Been Said That First Impressions Are Almost... Some people said that first impressions are almost impossible to change. while others said first impression are able to change when we get through it. In this time it hard to judge people by just looking. we can't tell people whether they are good or bad by their physical appearance, or we can't tell about their personality by their first impression. This the time people don't trust each other and love each other. In my position i completely disagree by the ideal thinking of that first impressions are almost impossible to change. I believe that first impression is possible to change . There are some examples we could proof it such as, the more you get to know somebody , the best you can evaluate his/ her personality, other is we have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my personality I have a hard time to get to know with people. such as when i came first to Wakefield i had a hard time of getting peoples feeling and there personality. I couldn't tell by my first impression because i have found it that the person i thought is going to be bad turns to be good. And all I seen come different. So we can't tell a person with inaccurate assumption. It is hard to tell by first impression but it is important for the next step. To analyze my idea that first impression isn't good enough to judge a person. some people might agree with the ideal assumption of first impressions are almost impossible to change while some of us disagree. In order to know someone better and to be a true and honest friend we have to get to know each other with certain amount of time. The you get to know somebody, the best you can evaluate them. • 7. Defining A Good Person In Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austen The definition of "being a good person" is different to everyone. You won't be able to find an exact definition that everyone will agree upon. Most definitions fall along the same lines as some may say a good person is good because of the meaningful gestures they contribute in life, such as having a kind heart, caring for others who don't even care about you, cherishing the little things, gently to children and who will help out an elder. Others often say that it's a bit more complicated than that. Regardless, there isn't an accurate response to this vague concept. With this said, how do we determine who is good and who is bad? Who is right or wrong, and who deserves the benefit of doubt? Are we put in the position to judge them on their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the introduction, he affirms that there isn't enough to characterize actions as good or evil, but that there should be something about the action that makes them accustomed to moral nature. Within the second chapter Mill gives his definition of Utilitarianism which is a theory based on the principle that "actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness." He defines happiness as pleasure with the absence of pain. The existence of pleasure and the absence of pain are both viewed the core basis that people desire. He gets to the point by saying that morality is imposed by the greatest happiness principle and that moral action increases the total amount of utility that is in the ... • 9. What Is A Good Person? Essay Taylor Burroughs Dr. Craig Jones Philosophy Online 1 December 2016 Final Paper: What is a good person? What is a good person? This is perhaps a question that can be answered in many ways and by many different opinions. A good person is defined differently by everyone. I chose this subject because I am very interested in knowing how people would define "a good person." Many people are not necessarily concerned with their behaviors. Our behaviors define who we are as for how people view us as individuals. To be a good person is a very difficult task, especially in the world that we live in today. There is so much hate, hostility, and just pure evil everywhere that you turn and good people are becoming a dying breed. In House and the Life of a Reason, it states "From what we've seen so far, and especially where House is concerned, these properties have nothing to do with God, the soul, or the afterlife. They may however, have something to do with how one feels about one's life, as long as those feelings match up with what we ought to care about, what we out to feel is important." (332) How ought we live, and what kind of people should we be? To be a good person you must act like a good person. Our actions affect the way that we think, the way that we are, and the way that we view things. We should wake up every day and try out best to serve others. In my own code of ethics, a good person is someone who displays compassion, love, care, joy, and goodness of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. What Makes A Person Good Or Evil? What makes a person good or evil? Why are some people labeled as good and some evil? Why do some people have traits or characteristics of both good and evil? Are people truly evil or do they just make bad choices? Throughout our lives we are faced with making decisions about our lives and often the choices we make can determine the path we follow. Depending on our life choices we can be labeled as either good or evil. Good and evil are relative; one person can be good while another evil. Some people can possess a combination of both good and bad traits. But even those who are considered bad can be rehabilitated to display good qualities such as empathy or kindness. According to neuroeconomist Paul Zak, 95 percent of people studied release oxytocin when they received a positive social signal. Oxytocin is released when we watch an emotional movie, are touched by someone, or trusted with someone else's possessions. About 5 percent of the people studied did not have a release of oxytocin after stimuli, resulting in the conclusion that these people possess psychopathic traits (Zak). People who are evil genetically lack receptors for oxytocin and tend to display the psychopathic traits. They do what they want will little or no regard for the safety or wellbeing of others. They tend to be loners and many have suffered from some form of abuse during childhood (Zak). Stress can cause good people to have moments when we act badly. This occurs because stress inhibits ... Rebecca Long, a Christian philanthropist writes that a righteous person is morally correct while a good person is a liberal and unselfish. Although no one is perfect there is a distinct difference between a righteous person and a good person. Rebecca long writes that a righteous person is being right for God, while a good man is being right with humanity. "Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die" (Romans 5:7). A man can be defined as righteous if he is morally correct and have perfect obedience of the laws God demands and faith, a man who is distinguished simply for honesty and sincerity of conduct, one who has no remarkable claims for amiability of character or for kindness. As much as this person is admired and respected, he has no characteristics which anyone would accurately die for. By 'a good man', it signifies a man whose attributes kindness, friendliness, tenderness. A liberal and supportive man, who is helpful in his distributions to the poor and compassionate, who unselfishly helps others. This man would be much more likely to appeal to ... INTRO 500words For my Personal Interest Project I have chosen to study extreme altruism, people who risk their for the good of another person. The reasoning that got my attention at choosing this topic was that of a personal family death which involved Altruism that occurred when I was younger. My links to the course are conformity and non conformity, continuity and change and how people behave in groups, also what aspect of identity or self encourages some to care to the extreme and express a willingness to risk their life while others do not. My link to continuity and change focuses on past generation and whether people were more or less likely inclined to help others. My research methods include interviews, data analysis and a questionnaire. I used interviews to create three case studies about people who have risked their life to save other people. Data analysis was used to analyse the nature of recipients of the 2015 bravery awards in Australia and to establish any trends in the nature of the altruistic behaviour. My questionnaire involved 540 respondents, chosen from a variety of workplaces, schoolmates and family and friends in a provincial city, I chose this technique as it allows me to get a more accurate first person response and gives me an access a range of opinions. However, as far as I know, Hitler spent a lot of time studying philosophy and ideas and didn't really do much until after he was 30 years old. So, while it would be easy to just judge the guy as a "lunatic," there were probably real "reasons" for his actions. Here are a few points I have heard and I could be wrong. As far as Hitler's "hatred" for the Jews, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was something to prepare the way for Christ. Because how would people know they needed a savior from their sin, if they were not aware they were sinners. So, essentially, people were given a law that they were unable to follow "perfectly" and they became aware of their guilt when breaking the law. Hence, the idea of a conscience. I'm sure the idea of a conscience preceded the Jews and probably went along with any group of people that had any kind of social rules. However, the Jews introduced a complex series of laws that would regulate nearly every aspect of your life, so the idea of "sin" became bigger, so the conscience would take on a larger role. So, one point is that Hitler didn't like to idea of a conscience. So, he targeted the people that propagated these ideas. And in his view, these people were evil. Of course, this doesn't mean that Hitler was "justified" in his actions. However, there are some implications about his thinking. If it was Hitler's desire to obliterate the concept of a conscience, then it would be easy to see how he could "unfeelingly" assist in the destruction of millions of people, without it bothering ... • 27. Prejudgment Reflection A prejudgment is a form how people interpreted information from other persons even though sometimes they don't any evidence that can prove what they are saying about the other person, they only have assumptions that are created in their mind. These people tend to criticisms people either because of physical appearance or stereotype. It's obvious that sometimes these individuals used prejudgment because they perceive something wrong with some persons that transmit uncomfortable sensations, so in some cases the prejudgment it's useful to prevent or avoid some dangerous situations. As, the author of the book The Messages the Communication Skill Book states, "Since first impression are so important, it's equally important to become aware of some of the most typical of prejudgment" (pg.192). Basically, the first impression it is important because that's how people perceive others either by a good sense or bad senses. Then, perpetuating illusions is when individuals create imaging in front others either because they are afraid because they don't want to be rejected it or even sometimes they are looking for affection. Most of these people suffer low self– esteem or they don't accept themselves the way they are, so they need to use perpetuating illusions in their mind to feel secure in front of others. Is it someone who brings justice, honor, or one who does good deed? Could it be someone who is intelligent, spiritual, and calm like Siddhartha? Or someone who is as noble as Macbeth? Or someone who is loyal, brave, and has superhuman strength be considered a good man? Although there are many traits that describe a good man, but the traits I consider are the most important are intelligent, loyal, and brave as to what makes a good man. In the book of Siddhartha, in his journey to reach enlightenment he had to overcome many obstacles and distractions that came his way. In "Slavery," Jean–Jacques Rousseau mentions that war is not the key to end slavery because war is only for states not against man to man. As people keep growing, their knowledge keeps developing. While people keep learning, they have to learn to accept somethings. One of those things is by simply being able to accept that if a paper is wrong is wrong but at least they tried. Looking at a paper or project that is wrong sometimes frightens people but it should not be that way because those who have bad papers become the best ones. Even though, people are wrong that should not stop with their education because of that. Meanwhile, Douglass was doing his chores, he was able to take bread from home and share with the little white boys "who, in return, would give [him] more valuable bread of knowledge" which was able to help him with his reading and writing (2). He was given a large sum of money when he became an adult, but in return basically had his childhood stolen from him (Hughes). His mother wanted him to live the rich life instead of in a little town where she was living and to eventually inherit her recently found fortune (Hughes). When he was given this money, he let it take over his life and lost sense of how he should behave. Because of this, I do not personally like Charles Kane due to how he let the money affect his decisions. I believe that the author portrays Charles Kane as sort of an evil man through the things he does, but shows that Kane doesn't realize how he is behaving is wrong. One example of this would be how he ran his newspaper company the New York Inquirer (Citizen Kane). He presented the news in the best way possible to get as many people as he could to read it. Even if he had to lie a little bit in the title or in the actual stories, all he cared about was being everyone's main source of news. • 37. Socrates Is A Good Person In an effort to spread the word of Socrates to a larger audience, Plato often wrote down the discussions he held in the form of dialogues. In these dialogues, Socrates continuously makes an effort to define that which is not easily defined and addresses questions in which the solution is not always straight forward. Reading through Plato's dialogues, such as, Euthyphro, Crito and The Apology, readers can ponder the claims Socrates makes and receive a particular insight into his point of view. It is known that Socrates is sentenced to death after being charged with corrupting the youth and denying the existence of the gods, as he presents his defense in The Apology. However, the debate as to whether or not Socrates is a "good person" is left up to interpretation as he never clearly states that he believes himself to be one. Nevertheless, his actions reflect that he is indeed a good person because of his constant pursuit of the complete truth in all matters, his lifestyle choices and unconcern for material objects and lastly his lack of fear in the certain face of death. In Plato's Euthyphro, Socrates' innate need to reach a certain "undisputed truth" or the most "accurate truth" is abundantly clear. In this dialogue, Socrates is summoned to court by Meletus on charges of impurity while Euthyphro must prosecute his own father who is charged with murdering a hired hand. Reputations are important because it shows the respect others have for someone whether that is a stranger or a friend. It also affects how an individual is judged through first impressions. Overall, a reputation is an expectation of what a person is known to be, and how one opinion can have a drastic effect on someone else's life. To me, reputations are people's expectation of what an individual is as a whole. Whether the characteristic a person embodies is good or bad, others are quick to judge. For example, I have the reputation of being responsible. To most of my friends, I'm known for getting my work done on time while getting a good night's rest. What they don't know, I'm scrambling to get my work done because of procrastination, to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Yet, another's judgment can affect the outcome of how someone wants their reputation to be. Without the respect of others, a person can be in solitude, shying away from social contact. Therefore, a reputation is just an opinion of what someone is supposed to be and the effect their respect can have on another person. I believe a reputation is just a way to file someone under a category to distinguish who that person is as a whole. • 43. Characteristics Of Good People The first book I read in English class this year was The World According to Garp, a book known for its forward thinking and provocative material. During a conversation in class, a question arose about Garp, Jenny, and the other main characters: are they good people? Writers often portray main characters as flawed, yet ultimately ethnically good human beings; however Garp and Co constantly walk a moral line. My conclusion: no, they were not good people, but they weren't horrible people either. If I were to ask people on the street if they considered themselves to be a good person, I am almost positive most people would say yes. Nevertheless, the fact remains that statistically people are predominantly average human beings. Still, I do think it says something that people, in general, want to be kind–hearted. They want to help people in need, or stand up for animal rights. They speak out against discrimination, or stick up for a friend. Sometimes, yes, people harbor selfish incentives; nonetheless, a good deed is still a good deed. Defining a good person is difficult because I don't want to put constraints around it. To be morally good, to me at least, a person needs to try to be moral, by whatever standards fit his/her own definition. He/she also needs to understand the personality traits that set him/her back, and in doing so, he/she can make an effort to remedy them. With such a vague definition, it is tough to ask specific questions. A potential question could be what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These answers would be different because everyone has their own ideas and opinions of what the answers should be. For many, a good person is someone who lives a good life, is a Christian, or someone who helps other individuals. For some, a good person might be someone who puts others first and someone who is reliable. The same applies to the answers you would receive from "what is the good life?" Just like everyone had different opinions on what a good person is, they will also have different opinions on what the good life is. You might get answers ranging from spending time with one's family to having a lot of money. These answers vary depending on the individuals values and world view. For some individuals this desire for money can cause them to act on it, driving them to steal in order to gain happiness. Bronk supports this idea by stating, "Our answers guide our actions, influence our decisions, and inspire our dreams" (2008, p.713). • 59. The Importance Of Being A Good Person What does it mean to be a good person? This question has been asked millions of times since the beginning of time, which is why it is one of the most discussed topics in everyday life. Individuals that delve into the art of philosophy find themselves seeking the truth about the morals and values one should have in life to be considered a good person. Morals are the fundamental standards of right and wrong in society such as the Ten Commandments in the Bible. Values, on the other hand, are an individual's perspective on what is right or wrong. In the book Values in Thought and Action, David Lipe sheds light on the idea of moral value. He states that "if one were to follow all the rules and principles perfectly he would probably not be judged as a morally good person," moreover "we desire that one possess such qualities as friendship, love, and loyalty" (Lipe 123). Being a good person is not merely knowing right from wrong but rather, it is having dignity, devotion, and sincerity in all that you do. Rudyard Kipling exemplified these traits best in the poem "If," which is centered on the values one should have in order to be regarded as a moral individual. When attempting to make a definitive list of the values one must obtain to be considered moral, it is important to remember the universal virtues handed down through history that have influenced the characters of men today. In the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, there are four main 'Cardinal Virtues' "which all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For this text set my question I would like to include in my class room is; "What are qualities of a good person?" I believe that this set of books will help students gain qualities to better themselves. This text set will allow young students to see positive role models and what makes them positive role models. The books themselves will appeal to young students through the story lines, high quality illustrations, relatable events, along with receiving the message/"Question" of the text set. I chose this topic because I believe every individual can better themselves, but also embrace the good qualities that it has. For young students I believe it is important to help influence how they treat others and look at themselves in a positive manner. In order to understand what a truly good person Muhammad was the reader must know the true depth of his humanity and benevolence as evidenced by the following text. Zayd Ibn was a slave who was given as a gift to Muhammad (Stewart, 37). After Zayd Ibn came to Muhammad's home the boy's biological father located him and asked Muhammad to let the boy return to his home (Stewart, 37). Zayd Ibn rejected his father's wish and asked to stay with Muhammad's family because he loved it there (Stewart, 37). Muhammad was so pleased by Zayd Ibn's admiration for his family that he freed the boy from slavery and formally adopted him (Stewart, 37). Muhammad had also freed his slave Baraka and even arranged a marriage for her (Stewart, 37). After the death of Baraka's husband she returned to Muhammad (Stewart, 37). Muhammad and his large family welcomed Baraka into their family (Stewart, 37). Earlier the preceding text discussed the mistreatment of slaves by the rich in Mecca. Muhammad's kindness is evident in the fact that his freed slaves wanted to remain in his household. Muhammad often sought out solitude in the hills of Mecca. In the movie "Gladiator" by Ridley Scott, they explore the wrongs of man. The protagonist, Maximus Decimus Meridius is portrayed as a good person because of his honorability. On the other hand, Commodus is portrayed as "bad" or evil because of the way he treats the "good" person. While stories usually have good and bad characters, there's a sign on how we know which one is bad and which one isn't. People usually get attracted to the protagonist rather than the antagonist. In "Gladiator," Meridius is shown as a good person because of his honorability and pride. " Three weeks from now, I will be harvesting my crops. Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. Hold the line! Stay with me! If you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Commodus, the antagonist from "Gladiator," is considered a bad person because of the way he treats other characters. "If you're very good, tomorrow night I'll tell you the story of emperor Claudius who was betrayed by those closest to him, by his own blood. They whispered in dark corners and went out late at night and conspired and conspired but the emperor Claudius knew they were up to something. He knew they were busy little bees. And one night he sat down with one of them and he looked at her and he said, "Tell me what you've been doing busy little bee or I shall strike down those dearest to you. You shall watch as I bathe in their blood." And the emperor was heartbroken. The little bee had wounded him more deeply than anyone else could ever have done." This quote, said by Commodus, is when he is talking to his nephew while his sister sits across the table. While he is talking to the kid, he wants to tell his sister that if she doesn't tell him everything, he will murder his nephew, hence the audience knowing he's a bad/evil ... • 69. Good Oral Hygiene For A Persons Overall Health Good oral hygiene plays an important role in a persons overall health. Also, it can help a person to be more confident, which in turn leads to better success! Some people do not realize the consequences of poor oral hygiene on their overall health. The consequences are not just bad teeth! For example: you may end up with an infection of the blood, heart problems, respiratory problems, etc. While some know this, many do not think it affects their ability to succeed in school and career. If a person has bad teeth, they will be more likely to be self–conscious. Therefore, they might not smile or seem as friendly. Friendliness and a smile is very important in any job because that is what builds trust. It is very hard for most people to trust someone who never smiles. Because of poor oral health, parents are missing more work and children are missing more school. Also, it is harder to concentrate when oral health is bad. Children with tooth pain maybe distracted from learning valuable information because they are so focused on their tooth pain. As a result, parents miss work because they have to take their kids to the dentists or tend to a sick child when teeth get infected. Then, if the parents themselves need care, that only adds to the struggle. Dental care is not cheap. Especially, if a person does not have insurance. A concern is that people might put off important dental work because they cannot afford dental care or insurance. As a result, they may battle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. The Importance Of A Person Has A Good Work Ethic In America some jobs are more sought after than others, and to hold these positions without having it taken away requires experience and a good work ethic. There are many ways to show that a person has a good work ethic. Some are going to college and graduating with good grades. Others are getting and holding a job in or after high school or doing internships. However, there can be complications when a person is trying to show their interviewer that they have a good work ethic. Without a previous job or internship there is not much information about the individual applying for the job. Thus the employer might choose another worker. Even if the person without a previous job or internship is a harder worker with a better work ethic, they cannot show this until they are hired, and that is a risk that several companies do not take. Impressing potential employers requires the ability to show that one can receive and hold a previous job, or have been an internship that give the intern with experience in the work field. One way to make a resume impressive is to have prior work experience. Not only does this show that a person can hold a position at a place of work, but it also gives the potential employer a source to contact and receive more information about that individual. Having a prior job can make you appear to be a better candidate for the prospective job than someone with the same education and work ethic, but has not had a job. In fact, college students may ... • 73. How Is Hitler Really A Good Person To Society? " Humankind struggles with collective powers for it's freedom, the individual struggles with dehumanization for the possession of his soul" (Saul Bellow)." Night" by Elie Wiesel was published in September 1960. This memoir was about Elie's family and all the other Jews taken to concentration camps. Also about his experience in the the camps of how he struggled and got treated throughout the Holocaust to survive. There are three important quotes from the memoir that are significant and poignant that am going to be talking about. Hows your faith? Because the Jews lost faith throughout the Holocaust because of mistreat and of what they would see. The Nazis made the Jews lose their faith because they treated them as slaves and were treated very cruel. The Jews had no faith at all anymore, everything was just hopeless for them. Some were just tired of it that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I don't think so he just made chaos around. Hitler made so many promises to the Jews but never actually did none of them. All his promises were just a lie. He was a fraud, cruel to innocent people."I have more faith in Hitler than in anyone else. He alone has kept his promises, all his promises, to all the Jewish people" (70). In this quote Elie is saying he doesn't believe in anyone but Hitler because he does keep his promises. But soon later on when they realized that none of his promises and notice the kind of things he would do they right away knew he was no good. Although the Jews were told a bunch of lies by Hitler they soon realized the type of person he was. All three quotes were important because it showed us what the Jews went through. The Holocaust is a very important period of time because many innocents died and because it was a harsh time. Elie was a lucky survival because none of his family made out alive. These people suffered a lot but no matter what the Nazis did to them they never wanted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Summary Of Jacquelynne Eccles 'The Sports Taboo' People are always making judgements on who a person is just by looking at someone. They take in what that person looks like and starts to make judgements on who he or she is. In "Who am I and What am I Going to do with my Life? Personal and Collective Identities as Motivators of Action", Jacquelynne Eccles explains her view on a person's identity: "I am defining collective identities as those personally valued parts of the self that serve to strengthen one's ties to highly valued social groups and relationships–such as one's gender, race, religion, social class, culture and family" (web). She believes that these characteristics listed above are what make up a person's identity and those make an impact on what people will look at to make judgements on that particular person. I agree with her statement; however, I believe most people define identity according to race, interests, and gender, which emphasizes how we categorize different people into social groups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are constantly using race as a judgement factor on who a person is in everyday life. In "The Sports Taboo", Malcolm Gladwell writes about how different race have an impact on what sports a person should be good or not good at. He reflects on his old track days when he says, " ... whites are allowed to acknowledge black athletic success as long as they feel guilty about it. What you're not suppose to say is what we were saying in my track days–that we were better because we were black ..." (Gladwell 175). In his early years, they were saying that a certain race is better at a sport than another race. This is just one example on how different races are used to determine who a person is in ...
