1. Compare and Contrast
By: Davis
Ali Baba and Aladdin have many similarities and
differences. Ali Baba is a story we read in class, Aladdin is a
movie from the early 1990’s produced by Disney.
Here are some similarities of Ali Baba and Aladdin.
Number one, both folk tales come from Arabia. Arabia is a hot
dry desert area, it is very, very warm, I would think that it
would be hard to live there.
Another similarity is that both have some kind of hidden
cave. In Ali Baba the cave is hidden in the rock, you say open
sesame and the rock would slide open. In Aladdin the cave is in
the desert, when someone gets close to it turns into a lion made
of sand.
One last similarity is that Aladdin and Ali Baba aren’t
greedy. Ali Baba wasn’t greedy because when he found the
riches of rugs silk and money he didn’t take it all, he only took
a bit. Aladdin wasn’t greedy because he only wanted the
princess.
Ali Baba might have a lot of similarities, but they also
have a lot of differences. One difference is that there is a king
in Aladdin and there isn’t in Ali Baba. The king in Aladdin
ruled the city and was a big part of the story. Ali Baba didn’t
mention anyone that might rule the city.
Another example is that Ali Baba has forty thieves after
him because they found out that he took some riches. Aladdin
has palace guards after him because he steals food because he is
poor and cannot afford to buy any food.
2. The last difference is that there is magic in Aladdin but
not in Ali Baba. In Aladdin you can control people’s minds,
there are genies, and the sand lion that creates the cave can talk.
Both Ali Baba and Aladdin were great stories, but I liked
Ali Baba better because I think that it is better to read than to
watch a movie.
