1. Equipment
The equipment we used to produce our film opening was a camera, a tripod and a
microphone. The camera lens was 18-55mm. This allowed us to ensure that the film capture
was outstanding and of a high standard quality. We used a tripod to keep the camera
fixed and secured whilst the filming took place. This also allowed us to have control of the
camera when carrying out the different camera shots and angles, so it was stable and gives
the audience the best experience when viewing the film opening in the post-production stage.
We experimented with the microphone by taking recordings of dialogue from different
distances and came to the conclusion that we preferred the microphone that was built in the
camera over the separate microphone.
Props
Some of the props that we will include in our film production is:
A Ouija board
At least one tent
A bus/mini bus
The main prop in our film opening will be the Ouija board. The use of the Ouija board acts as
a signifier to symbolise an evil object. This prop refers to a tool to supernatural spirits so the
prop itself lets the audience know that the genre is horror.
The characters will also have other props such as blankets, a tent, backpacks and other items
just to show that they're going on a camping trip.
We also needed to have a minibus to film the characters on, and we needed to film the bus
moving to show the change of location from the school to the woods. To do this we had to
ask for permission from the school, on two different occasions to allow us to get all the film
footage we need of the characters in the minibus. We also needed a panning shot of the bus
moving so we also had to ask for one of the school caretakers to drive the bus a small
distance so we could achieve this shot.
