3. Introduction
• Electric Vehicles basically use an electric motor which is powered by
electricity from batteries.
• These batteries can be charged through plugging in a charger at a
charging port just like you charge your mobile phone or your laptop.
• This is contrary to the normal combustion engine which generates
power through burning fuel and gases, hence the “pollution-free” tag
that electric vehicles get.
4. Why EV ?
• Zero emission
EVs can also reduce the emissions that
contribute to climate change, improving public health
and reducing ecological damage. Charging EV on
renewable energy such as solar or wind minimizes
these emissions even more.
• Better Acceleration
electric motors react quickly, EVs are very
responsive and have very good torque.
• Comparatively cheaper
comparatively cheaper specially on
smaller routes , which is 75% travelling of
average population
7. • BEV
Battery as only energy source
Charging via plug and braking
• PHEV
Battery + Fossil Fuel as energy source
Battery charging via braking + plug
14. BEST OF THE BEST ( ie TESLA
MODEL S )
EV CAR CAN TRAVEL
MAXIMUM OF 300 MILES IN
SINGLE CHARGE
15. • Improvements For range extension is possible but before that lets
see what is key factor to improve.
• EV including tesla
16. In struggle for improve range of traveling
• Concept adopted by tesla
• DC Motor
Less life time
Resistance , loss of energy due to
carbon brushes No brushes
Longer life time
19. Tesla
• Tesla, Inc. (formerly Tesla Motors, Inc.) is an American
electric vehicle and clean energy
• Tesla ranked as the world's best-selling plug-in and
battery electric passenger car manufacturer in 2019,
with a market share of 17% of the plug-in segment and
23% of the battery electric segment.
• Musk, who has served as CEO since 2008, said in 2006
that "the overarching purpose of Tesla Motors.

21. Lucid
• Lucid Motors, Inc. is an American
automotive Some of Lucid's 500 employees
as of 2016 had previously worked at other
car companies such as Tesla and Mazda,
including Peter Rawlinson, the former VP of
Engineering at Tesla
• A prototype of the Lucid Air fully electric car
was unveiled in December 2016, with
production expected in 2017.it was
designed with a combined 1,000 hp (750
kW). Lucid later planned to start production
in 2020.
• but at the production unveil in September
2020 announced a delay to spring 2021.
22. Tesla vs Lucid
• Tesla maximum range is
300 miles
• mode AIR car go up to 500
miles in single charge !!!
23. • Tesla motors ( Induction motor )
• Electron flow + rotor windings = rotation of motor + loss of
energy due resistance in winding in form of heat
• Lucid motors ( permanent magnet synchronous motor )
• having permanent magnet as rotor winding thus having no loss of
energy and less wastage of battery capacity
24. Applicability in Pakistan
Jolta Electric is the EV technology provider, designed key
components of electric vehicle kits for two, three, and
four wheelers. been through five years of product
designing, development & manufacturing experience in
China with special reference to EVs.
Distance covered in one full
charge UP TO 40KM
Top Speed on plain road: 45
KM/Hour
Charging Time (To full Battery
Bank): 6 hrs
Parts easily available.
25. Karakoram Motors came into existence in 2003 and
has emerged over the years as one of the leading
automobile assemblers and importers of Chinese
automobile in Pakistan.
• The company is also planning to
introduce the first locally
manufactured electric passenger car in
Pakistan; we have already acquired the
sole-production rights of a Canadian
firm DYNASTY and have started
manufacturing these vehicles.
26. • Some other upcoming companies
• Chongqing Changan Automobile Limited has signed an agreement with
Master Motors of Pakistan to assemble and sell their cars in the country.
Jinbei has collaborated with Zenith Automotive (Pvt) Ltd. to distribute
and sell its Electric vehicles across the country.
• Al Haj Automotive Private Limited recently signed an agreement with
Proton as the exclusive authorised distributor and assemblers of Proton
vehicles in Pakistan and have plans to launch their Electric vehicles in the
country.
27. Factors Affecting Electric Vehicle Adoption In
Pakistan
• Road infrastructure in Pakistan, especially in the lesser developed parts of
the country, does not suit EVs which are expected to be sophisticated and
light weight vehicles.
• No vehicle retirement policy is in place in Pakistan and older vehicles in car,
bus and truck segment are source of emissions.
• EVs are a costly option. The battery cost constitutes significant share in the
total cost of an EV. Battery life is normally five years and the customers in
Pakistan may not be attracted to pay the upfront cost in advance.
• Non-availability of Charging Infrastructure is the biggest challenge. The
investors in charging infrastructure and quantum of investment are to be
worked out.

30. Conclusion
• Technically the world has progressed enough to fully accept EV.
• In 2-3 wheelers segment, pure electric vehicles has slowly been
adopted whereas in 4-wheelers and heavy vehicles advanced
technologies like hybrid also exist However, for any kind of EV to have
a market acceptance, asizeable market development effort is
required. Moreover, batteries are an integral part of EVs and their
development also requires incentives otherwise these will have to be
imported at initial stage. Similarly adequate charging infrastructure is
also needed to eliminate anxiety amongst EV owners.
