Treatment
For my main task I am creating two advertsfor sportswear under the
nameof a company, which I have designed, named Infinitesports.
The main purposeof these advertsis to generate sales in the
sportswear advertised, however makingthese advertswould also
mean increased brand awarenessand brand reinforcement. Advert1
will be advertising runningtrainersand advert2 will be advertisinga
runningjacket. It is importantfor the products to look practical and
hard wearingso that they seem like they would be beneficial to the
audience. I have decided to not use narrativein either of my adverts
as I feel showing the productsin use alongsidemusic, will allow the
audienceto see the benefits of the productsthemselves in a simple
manor without muchexplanation.
Within my footage for both of the advertsI am going to create, I will
be showing the productsin action outside in order to show how they
perform in a real life everyday running environment, rather than on a
runningtrack as the audiencewill be morelikely to use the products
in naturalsetting. I am going to usevariouslocations of different
surfacetypes such as, grass field, concrete road, dirttrack and
forestation to show how the productsperform acrossdifferent
surfacesand terrains, whilst putting emphasison the fact that these
productscan be used by the average everyday person in their local
environment. Throughoutthe shots for advert2 I will pointout the
qualities of the runningjacket through brief title screens, for example
as one of the shots in advert2, I will shoot the jacket as the actor
takes it off and folds it into itself, to show off its practical qualities to
the audience, this will be pointed outin a simple way by a brief cut-in
to a title screen saying PRACTICAL. Thepurposeof these title screens
will be to reinforceany qualities of the jacket that are being
presented to the audiencethrough the footage. In advert1 I will
show shots of the runningtrainersbeing used for other areas of sport
besides running, in order to widen the target audienceslightly by
expandingthe potential benefits of purchasingthese trainers, these
sports willincludefootball, basketball and longjump. Showingthe
audiencefirst hand how these productsperform rather than just
showing them the productsalone, will capturetheir attention more
as they may picturethemselves in the position of the actor seen using
the productsin the advert.
Shots
Advert 1:
 Shot(s) 1 - First of all at the start of my footage I will use
various brief still shots of the locations which I am planningto
use in my advert, these being a filed, a forest dirt track, a
concrete road, a outdoor basketball area, a football goal, a
runningtrack, a tennis courtand perhaps a sand pit
 Shot(s) 2 - Within the first shots of the advertI may also
includebrief close up shots of a basketball, football and
perhapsa sandpit, this will give the audiencean ideaof what is
to come within the footage
 Shot 3 – This shot will show a quick close up of the male runner
in my video puttingon the runningtrainersand lacing them up,
this implies that he is about to go running
 Shot 4 – Long shot will show a fullbody view of the male
runner leavingthe frontdoor of a house in his runningclothing
and trainers, he will then jog off past the camera as he closes
the frontdoor, this shot will suggest that he has just left his
home to go on a run
 Shot 5 – Tracking shot will follow the runner, ashe runsdown
a concrete road, the focus on the camera will be on the runners
trainers, the shot will be filmed from the right side of his body,
this will show the trainer to the audiencewhich is the main
focusof the advert
 Shot 6 – long pan shot will show the male running pastthe
camera frontthe left side of his body, the location will of
switched to a stony typeroad
(Next I willuse a quick succession of still shots)
 Shot 7 – This shot will show the male wearingthe trainers on a
runningtack (either on grass or track material) as he prepares
to set off whilst he bends down in the runningstart position,
again the focuswill be on the trainers the malewill be shown
from no more then the neck downwards,
 Shot 8 - The second of the still close upswill show the male
from the top of the leg down to the trainers as a basketball
bouncesnext to his feet, implyingthat he is bouncingthe ball
with his hands, as a follow up to this I may show a shot of the
male tacking a shot at the basketball hoop and scoringa basket,
the male runner willbe the only oneof the court
 Shot 9 – This still close up willshow the males feet as he kicks a
football
 Shot 10 – As follow up to shot 9 this shot will show a still
medium longshot of a football traveling fast into a football goal
from the frontof the goal, there will be no one in the shot
implyingthat this wasthe ball kicked by the male in the
previousshot
 Shot 11 – This will be a still close up of the male jumpingfrom
the jump mark at a sandpitfrom a side view
 Shot 12 – Medium shot will show the male in the air as he
jumpstowardsthe sandpit, this will be shot from the front
angle facing the runner
 Shot 13 – Close up shot will show the males feet as he landsin
the sandpit, again this will be shot from a side view to
concentrate the action on the males trainers
(After the succession of still shots to show how the trainers
perform in other areas of physical exercise and sportbesides
running, Iwill then focusthe action of the footage back to the
male running)
 Shot 14 – Still long shot will show male runningacrossopen
field
 Shot 15 – A zoom out willbe used to show the male running
towardsthe camera across the open field, whilst the camera
focus’son the legs and feet of the male
 Shot 16 – A zoom in will be used as the male runsthrough a
forest dirt track typearea with his back to the camera, the
focuswill be on the males trainers on his feet as he runs
 Title shot 1 – This title towardsthe end of the footage will be
on a black background with blue writing (as to symbolizethe
colour of the InfiniteSports logo) in bold capitals, which reads,
WHATHOLDS YOU BACK?
 Title shot 2 – This title again will be on a black background
with capital blue writingas the wordsread, THERE IS NO
LIMIT, which is the title name of the campaign for my company
InfiniteSports
 Shot 17 – Finally this shot will simply show the trainersplaced
as a pair without anyonewearingthem, on a concrete road
location, this will give the audienceonefinal view of the design
of the trainerswithin the advert
 Title Shot 3 – This title shot will be in bold capital blue writing
on a black background sayingthe nameof the trainer, perhaps
INFINITE RUN 1
 Title shot 4 – This will be the final shot of the advertas the title
screen will show the Infinite Sports company logo
Advert 2:
This footage will be shot on a day when it is not sunny so that the use
of the runningjacketlooks justified, if it is sunny theaudiencemay
wonder why the runner needsajacket as the denotation of it being
sunny isthat it is also hot.
 Shot 1 – Still long shot from in frontof the male runner will
show him stretching briefly on the pavementwith housesin
the background, suggestingthat he is about to start runningas
he is wearingrunningclothing
 Shot 2 – Close up of the male doingup his runningjacketto the
neck, which was already unzipped whilsthe wasstretching in
the first shot
 Title Shot 1 – This title willbe on a black background with blue
capital writingto symbolizethe colours in the company
logo,(branding)and will read STYLISH DESIGN
 Shot 3 – Tracking shot will follow the runner at a side view
from his waist to his head in order to show a good view of the
runningjacketwhilst it is in use, the location for this shot will
be a concrete road, the surfacewill have to be fairly level in
order for the tracking to be smooth
 Shot 4 - I will usethe same location as the previousshot to
shoot a long shot pan as the male runner runspastthe camera
in fullbody view whilst wearingthe jacket
 Shot 5 – Next I will use a still longshot from a side view of the
male runner ashe runsacrossa open filed location, giving the
audiencea fullbody view of the male as he runswhilst wearing
the jacket
 Shot 6 – This shot will be taken from the hand of the male
himself as he runswith the open field location in the
background, he will face the camera towardshimself (looking
past it) whilst runningin order to show the amountof effort he
is putting into his run, this willalso give the camera wobbly
effect indicating running
 Title Shot 2 – Again will be black background with blue capital
writing, this title shot will say LIGHTWEIGHT
 Shot 7 – This shot will be a long shot which pansround asthe
male runson a dirt track through a forest location and over a
log, concentrating moreon the upper half of his body rather
than the lower half
 Shot 8 – This shot will show the male as he lands from climbing
over the log in the previousshot, this will be a medium long
shot showinghim from the waist upwardsashe catches his
breath, he will then put his hands on the jacket zip in order to
symbolizethat he is about to undo it
 Shot 9 – Cutin shot will show the action of the male undoing
the zip to his jacket slowly
 Shot 10 – From the frontangle of the male a medium shot will
show him taking off the jacket
 Shot 11 – A short series of close up jump cutswill show the
male foldingup the jacket and turningit into a bag, as the
insideof one of the jacket pockets will have a shoulder strap
insideit
 Title shot 3 – Title shot with black background and bluecapital
writing will show the word PRACTICAL
 Shot 12 – Still Medium longshot from the frontangle of the
male will show him still in the forest location, as he has
finished foldingthe jacket into a bag and begins to run again
 Shot 13 – A zoom in from behind the male will happen as he
runsinto the distance whilst by a river location
 Shot 14 – A zoom out willshow the male from the frontangle
whilst he runsby the river at the same location used in the
previousshot
 Shot 15 – Tracking shot from the right side angle of the male
will show him as he runsdown aconcrete surfaceroad
 Shot 16 - A low angle still shot from behind willshow the male
as he slowsdown and stopsrunningfor a second whilst he
takes of the jacket which is still folded up into a bag
 Shot 17 – Front low angle shot will show the maleas he unfolds
the jacket and putsit back on and zipsit up to his neck
 Title Shot 4 – Black background with blue capital writing will
read COMFORTABLE
 Title Shot 5 – Again the same colour regime as the other title
