2. MEDIUM SHOT: WIDE ANGLE LENS
This shot type captures the whole of
the scene, including the athletes
surroundings and movement.
I will have to consider what camera I
use to capture fast movement of my
athletes, during editing I may have to
slow this down to achieve a better
effect. Another option is to use a
tracking device to follow the athletes
movement.
3. CLOSE UP/ REACTION SHOTS:
Close ups will add a dynamic feel to
my trailer and add a sense of
intimacy with the target audience.
This shot type would be successful
when zooming in on the muscles
types used by the athletes or
possibly a runners feet, ect.
A close up reaction shot is
interesting here, and may be good
to use in my trailer when the
doping statistics are read out by the
voiceover.
4. EXTEME CLOSE UP’S
DIFFERENT SHOT IDEAS
An extreme close up is exciting,
mysterious, intimate and dramatic.
The audience get a sense of
emotion or strain on the character
(athlete). This shot would be
interesting to use when an athlete
is heavy breathing and sweating.
I saw this shot in a short
documentary I watched on Youtube,
I liked the idea of showing the role
of the internet in doping and how
easy it is to access these drugs
online.
5. Over the shoulder shot : In film or
video, an over the shoulder shot
(also over shoulder, OS, OTS, or
third-person shot) is a shot of
someone or something taken from
the perspective or camera angle
from the shoulder of another
person. I think this would be a key
shot to use in a documentary film as
this would challenge the
conventions of this genre.
Match on Action: Match on action
(or cutting on action) is an editing
technique for continuity editing in
which one shot cuts to another shot
portraying the action of the subject
in the first shot. This technique is
used all the time in films however is
very successful in sport films to
make the sport/action seem
