On National Teacher Day, meet the 2024-25 Kenan Fellows
AS Media Evaluation - Q7
1. Q7. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. In the prelim video, the lighting is too strong which makes the footage look grainy and not as professional as it
could. In the opening sequence I filmed outside so there is natural lighting, which was what I wanted as the trees
obscured the light in some scenes, making it look eerie and dark at some points.
In the prelim, the over the shoulder shot wasn’t accurate, it was to the side instead of behind the character.
When I filmed the opening sequence, I took this into consideration and tried to see how I could improve it, the
image on the right is a screenshot of an over the shoulder shot in my film.
3. In the prelim, I changed the focus mid shot which makes it
difficult to see what is happening on screen, I tried to avoid
repeating this mistake in the final cut as it made the
preliminary feel unprofessional.
I thought that this was an interesting shot as the camera
zooms and blurs (deliberately) before fading into the
next shot.
After completing questions 1-6, I feel that I have a better understanding of the components needed to make a film. I
have a clearer understanding of how certain audiences affect how the film is seen and received and how well it does.
Because of question 6, I have a better understanding of the technologies needed to produce a media product and the
methods of collecting feedback and information too. Question 2 has made me think more about the development of
characters and how they represent particular social groups such as different age groups, classes, gender stereotypes
and races.
4. Feedback
I put my finished film onto
Facebook and asked for feedback
on it. The feedback I received was
positive with some people wanting
to know why Kate hasn’t turned
into a zombie; which shows
interest in the film. Another person
commented on the last clip where
the camera zooms in on Kate’s face
and described it as “mega scary”.
Overall, I’m pleased with the
feedback.
I also put the
film on
YouTube and
received 149
views.
