2. PDHPE is a key learning area within the New
SouthWales K-6 Syllabus which aims to
encourage and improve student education of
personal development, health and physical
education. It provides students with
knowledge and skills to allow them to live a
healthy and active lifestyle and adopt a
productive role within their community and
society.

4. Helps students build positive interpersonal
relationships using emotional and cognitive
skills.
Teaches students about values, attitudes,
basic and/or necessary skills and knowledge
to pursue and maintain a active and healthy

5. Students will be encouraged to participate in
class physical activities such as: Dance,
Sports, and games or activities; to improve
on their gross and motor skills.This will also
demonstrate the benefits of these activities
and make links to a healthy lifestyle.

social skills and learn the differences between
safe and unsafe environments.

6. Students will learn about the function of the
Human Body and the benefits and
disadvantages of a healthy and unhealthy
lifestyle.

7. Tasks, activities and the information that will
be taught to students must be explained and
taught according to their age and stage of
development.This will then allow the
students to adopt a clear understanding of
the topic to further enhance student learning.
Individually, each student will adopt and
depict different needs and these will be
catered to, through educational materials in
this key learning area.
