Natural Anti-Bacterial Products That
Are Specific to Target.
Intralytix, Inc. is a biotechnology company focusing on
development and commercialization of bacteriophage-based,
natural “green” antibacterial products. Intralytix, Inc. platform
technology is based on using naturally occurring
bacteriophages for developing a series of “green” commercial
products for a variety of food safety, environmental, industrial,
veterinary, cosmetic (including oral health), and human health
applications. The platform technology – and phage-based
products - represents one of the most, if not the most,
environmentally friendly, “green” technologies for future
generations of antibacterial and “probiotic” products.
BACTERIOPHAGES FOR PROMOTING HUMAN HEALTH
AND ADVANCING ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
NATURALLY
Bacteriophages, or phages, are viruses that kill bacteria. They
are the most ubiquitous microorganisms on earth. Phages are
found in the soil, water, all fresh foods we eat and in our
bodies. Because of two remarkable characteristics, phages
can be used to safely and gently control disease-causing
bacteria in a variety of settings:
• Phages have very potent bactericidal activity against their targeted
bacteria and
• they are also very specific: a given phage will kill strains or subgroup of
strains (usually within the same bacterial species) without affecting other
bacterial species or mammalian cells.
Phages are “Nature’s way” of controlling bacteria on this
planet, and they have played and continue to play a critical role
in maintaining (via a well- balanced predator-prey relationship)
microbial balance in every ecosystem where bacteria are
present.
Intralytix is using its core bacteriophage technology to develop
novel natural products for use in food processing,
environmental clean-up, sanitation, consumer products, and
clinical settings:
• Making the world’s supply of fresh foods safer to consume and by
reducing wastage due to recalls worldwide;
• Use of bacteriophages in place of antibiotics and other antimicrobials in
food, food processing environments, and agricultural and veterinary
applications can lead to a reduction in environmental contamination with
harsh, environment-damaging chemicals and/or antibiotics.
• Use of bacteriophages in a clinical setting has the potential to reduce
the development of antibiotic resistant bacteria and bacteriophage
preparations can be used in human therapeutics to directly eliminate
existing antibiotic resistant bacteria.
• Bacteriophages are by nature a probiotic or “phagebiotic,”and help
naturally maintain a healthy balance of microflora in our environment
and our bodies.

Bacteriophages are a very powerful natural tool for managing
infectious diseases (and potentially some non-infectious
diseases as well) in a variety of settings, in the most
environmentally-friendly manner imaginable.
