8. Words of advice….
• Apply for every program that interests you. That strategy leaves your options open. If you
are offered a spot and decide you don’t want to go there, you can always say ‘no, thank
you’.
• Go where you feel like you need to go, not where your friends go or want you to go. You
have no guarantee to be in the same classes as your friends and would likely see little of
each other throughout the school day.
• Try to decide what school is right for you by early March. 8th Grade Transition Day is
March 7! That is the day when all 8th graders are invited to visit their high school during
the day. You can only go to one because they are all happening on the same day at the
same time. If you have applied for one of the Early Colleges or Academies, but don’t yet
know if you are in, visit your plan ‘B’ high school that day.
• Keep your grades up, come to school every day that you are able and keep working on
good study and learning habits. If your grades are low, work hard to raise them so your
report card shows your potential.
